Scrabble House Compound - is a land mark Taos vacation rental home rental - offering a great dining / kitchen open floor plan. This room boasts a 10 foot long copper clad counter and breakfast bar where guests love to gather, visit with the cook and pitch in to chop veggies. Our gracious owner has provided ample cushy seating in the living room including a computer table and chairs for computer buffs. The 3 bedroom main house comes equipped with a 4th full guest bathroom for children and teens sleeping on the Hidde-a-Mat topped cots leaving the 3 King master bedrooms with total privacy. This means 3 bedrooms with "in-suite bathrooms" that do not have to be shared.

Located on 2 full acres, Scrabble House Compound offers wide open landscape with native desert sage and sweeping mountain views north, south, east and west. Situated on Ski Valley Road with an uninterrupted drive to Taos Ski Valley and a short 4 mile drive into town makes this "Taos lodging find" a popular choice for groups going in opposite directions for vacation fun (golfing, rafting, hiking, painting, skiing, dining, exploring, biking, fishing, researching or shopping). For your streaming pleasure enjoy the newly installed Fiber-Optics wi-fi.

For our Texas audience who believe summer lodging must include air conditioning - Scrabble House comes equipped with an "Evaporative Cooling" system - designed specifically to function in dry desert conditions. In addition, there are 3 ceiling fans and 4 large portable fans to insure cool conditions for our "very few" hot summer days.

Great place to spend Christmas with the family!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Family Celebration in Taos

Property in Disrepair!

Upon arrival, the keypad on the front door did not work. There was trash and cigarette butts throughout the outside grounds of the property. There were a number of maintenance issues as follows Main House: Missing plastic shower curtain in guest bathroom Dead bugs throughout Spiderwebs throughout Broken sink & shower drain in front bathroom Broken towel rack in back bathroom No kitchen sponges to wash dishes Loose doorknob in 4th bathroom, unable to open/close the door Casita: No kitchen garbage can Broken window in the casita door,shattered glass shards Broken window crank in kitchen & bathroom window Leaking Fridge Dead bugs throughout Broken Lampshade in bedroom Loose doorknob to bathroom Broken light switch in main living space In addition to the above, the following items are advertised though did not work: TVs did not have cable access as advertised, Casita swamp cooler was barely able to provide some cool air in the main living space Main House swamp cooler can only cool kitchen/living space, not entire home While attempting to remediate during our stay, we learned that nearly the entire list of issues were KNOWN prior to our arrival. As shared, I had hoped to remediate with the homeowners and unfortunately, it took well over a week after check out to receive a two sentence response that “They (homeowners) also feel that Terra (house manager) has given a valid explanation for each of the items.”
