EXACTLY LIKE THE PICTURES

We enjoyed our stay. Great location. Diane was fantastic to deal with. The only thing I would recommend is perhaps a BBQ on the patio. That would have made it 5 stars. We look forward to book again.

Paradise Found

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Diane's wonderful condo. The unit is beautiful and well equipped with everything you need, with all the comforts of home. We made our breakfasts there, the kitchen had everything we needed to make our meals. The grounds were stunning and we enjoyed the communal pool, usually to ourselves, which we loved. Everyone we encountered at the Resort were very nice and helpful. We saw some wild life including coati, which was an added bonus. Yes there's mosquitoes but hey, you're in the jungle, it's to be expected. The location was perfect for trips to Akumal, PDC and Tulum. We will definitely stay here again when we return to the Yucatan. Thank you Diane for making us feel at home!

Last minute escape

I took a last minute vacation this week (writing this review while waiting for a shuttle to the airport). The property was very nice, almost full kitchen with easy parking in front on condo, very quiet and lots of privacy. I will say that the 'private pool' is shared by Wtvr other condo guests are in, and it not being that big or warm can be a problem for some. Also, while the jacuzzi is massive and jets work great, the house didn't seem to have enough water to fill it--we had to stop, wait for water heater to heat up another batch, fill and repeat---took approx an hour to get it going. Overall I think I would strongly consider another visit to this property and would recommend to my friends, so long as they knew what to expect.

Beautiful property. Had everything we needed!

We spent 3 nights in this lovely condo. We took advantage of the all-inclusive option 1 full day. Worked well for us. We ate out the other days. We chose not to rent a car & were able to get around just fine. It was a bit of a walk some days after 4pm to return from the front of the resort property back to the condo. However, we viewed it as our daily exercise. If for any reason (age or circumstances), someone is not able to walk (.25-.5 mile) each way you might want to rent a car as suggested. Also may want a car to visit other locations in the area. We took the collectivos & a taxi upon leaving to visit Tulum. The shuttle service from the condo is very helpful to get to all of the pools, beaches, restaurants & front lobby. FYI it runs from Quetzal to front lobby of Sian Kaan from 8am-4pm. From front lobby you can take other shuttles all around the property (they are labeled). They run later. But after 4pm you would walk from Sian Kaan lobby back to condo (.25-.5 mile mentioned earlier). All of the staff are very friendly & make you feel right at home. It is nice to practice or learn a few Spanish phrases if you're not fluent. We enjoyed meeting so many kind people. The condo had everything we needed. It is clean & extremely practical. It was also easy to find. We used USA-transfers from airport to Bahia Principe (main entrance of Quetzal). Diane provided very detailed instructions & answered any questions we had promptly. We can't wait to return!

Loved it!

We spend 9 nights in the condo and loved it. What you see on the pictures is what you get. The bed is very comfortable and we liked that the bedroom had its own air-condition. The kitchen had everything you would need including a drinking water dispenser to fill up water bottles. We did not cook a lot but bought some groceries at the super market in Tulum to make sandwiches and have snacks and drinks for our daily trips. Loved the porch but could not enjoy it in the evening due to the mosquitos. If this was my place I would install some fans and maybe screen in the porch to enjoy the evenings out there. Everyone in the complex was very nice, especially the security guards. On our last day we had one come up to us to show us that there were deer on the golf course right behind the condo. We enjoyed the pool at the condo every evening and were usually by ourselves. We did go over to the Bahia Principle hotels and they are very nice but we do not like crowds and laying in the sun all day, so they were not for us. We had a rental car (be aware of the extra insurance and fees, it will double you estimated car rental cost, make sure you do the research). We did day trips to Tulum, Coba and Chichen Itza on our own and booked a boat trip through the hotel Sian Kaan (you can find the tour planer in the lobby of the hotel). We eat out most of the time and all the meals we had were excellent, from the small hole in the wall restaurant in Tulum to the must have seafood platter from La Cueva del Pescado in Akulum. Thank you very much Diana for letting us use your condo it is just lovely!

Beautiful Condo Located at a Fabulous Resort Setting.

We picked up our rental car at the airport and headed south along Route 307 towards Akumal. When we arrived at the entrance for the Bahia Principe Resort, we knew this place was going to be something special, just by the looks of the impressive entrance. After passing through the entry gate, it was just a very short drive through a beautiful manicured park like scene to the condo. This is a four-plex unit and the property is on the ground floor. After obtaining the key from the lock-box by the front door, we opened the it with great anticipation and were greeted first off by the sound of pleasing music emanating from within. Our eyes were immediately drawn to the polished marble flooring and a sliding glass door leading to the rear patio. Glass so clean, my wife at first thought it had been left open, revealing a private outdoor seating area. As we toured the condo, we were impressed over and over again. The bedroom is spacious, with plenty of room for clothing and personal effects. A comfortable king size bed takes center stage and provides a great place to rest after enjoying the day. It is directly connected to the modern and efficient bathroom, with great use of glass, porcelain, and marble in the decor. The kitchen is so fully stocked for preparing meals, that you will struggle to find anything that is missing. Appliances include microwave, blender, coffee maker, toaster oven, and more. We went to the grocery store and fully stocked up with everything we wanted, knowing we had all we needed to prepare great meals. The living room TV is modern with satellite, but the number of English channels is limited. There is also a TV in the bedroom, but it is not connected to anything. There is an HDMI cable though, so it could be used for connection to computer or other streaming devices, I suppose. The WiFi and internet is great. There is a full size washer/dry setup for laundry, and it works very good. Gas water heat and kitchen stove is also very nice. The patio is great for relaxing and we enjoyed using the tub in the evening. The owner's local rep came by to check on us, and make sure we were happy. He was very polite and not at all intrusive. During the evening there are shows at the resort hotel with live music. The gift shops are very good and the prices are very competitive with local shops in Tulum. The resort is so nice, I feel like we barely scratched the surface. This would easily be a place we would visit again.

SIMPLY AMAZING!!

We came here for a few days and were simply blown away by the results. The amenities were spectacularly clean and modern. Even though we had neighbors immediately next to us, we never heard them once and don't think we ver bothered them either. The pool in our neighborhood was practically empty and ours for the taking. The main resort area was a bit of a walk, but considering you pretty much have to drive everywhere else in the city, a little walk is more than welcome (watch out for the friendly sunbathing iguanas though!). Diane's help on the property was extremely friendly and nice, and even stuck around to make sure he welcomed us after he missed us on our first stop by the condo. In short, I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Come and enjoy a nice, relaxing stay before it's too late!

First time condo experience and can’t wait for the next one.

Property is quiet but you do hear distant traffic. Shuttle from condo to lobby slow but if you like exercise it was good for us. We took shuttle to beach and took our own food and drinks which worked well. Washer and dryer a big plus! Would return for sure.

Beautiful place!

We stayed at Diane’s beautiful condo for two weeks and loved it. It’s very clean, and peaceful. Being people who love to swim and snorkel we enjoyed the beach near the Tulum complex.the reef is easy to swim to and we were lucky enough to see some rays. It may be helpful for others who are not renting a car to know that it does take about 45 minutes to get to the beach from the condo residences. This is because it’s a 10 minute walk from the condo to the tram pickup at the Sian Ka’an and you may wait for 10 - 15 minutes before one comes, then it stops at several locations at the resort before you get to the Tulum lobby and then have to walk another 5 minutes to the beach from there. In high season they will likely run a shuttle from the condo to the tram pickup, but it wasn’t running when we visited. We had breakfast & lunch at the condo but chose to go out for dinner to Akumal or Puerto Aventuras, which are about 10-15 minutes north by car. There was also a little beach restaurant located about 5 minutes walk up the beach called Beached Bikini that we enjoyed. We used colectivos to get around, explore & do our grocery shopping, which was easy and inexpensive. Just bear in mind they stop running at 10pm. They only suggestion for improvement is to have a gas barbecue at the condo. ( if there was one in the past it wasn’t there when we visited) There was only a charcoal BBQ grill at the pool area for residents but we didn’t want to deal with buying charcoal & lighter fluid etc. Thanks Diane!

Nice condo on the golf course.

We spend three nights in this place. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was really nice and the bathroom was clean. During our stay we rented a car and visited places form Playa del Carmen down to Tulum. This condo was in a nice central location, and because it is inside a gated community it was quiet and relaxing. We did not get the chance to play golf or enjoy any of the things that the Bahia Principe resort offers. This is a nice place for a great price.

We hit the jackpot with this rental!!!

This condo unit was everything we hoped for and more! We arrived late at night and the check-in went without a hitch. We could tell from the pictures that it was a beautiful unit but it was when we woke up the next morning when we realized the absolute beauty of the complex, the grounds, the golf course just outside our patio area and the peacefulness of it all! Getting to use many of the Bahia Principe's pools and beach area was such a bonus - it was truly the best of both worlds! We prefer cooking our own breakfasts and lunches, opting to go out for dinner at night. The hotel complex has a small tram system that picks people up at meeting points that take you everywhere within the grounds - quite entertaining in itself to take the tour of the entire complex. We did not rent a car since we like to walk, providing much needed exercise to offset the vacation-time calorie intake increase. We took the local bus (Colectivo, 40 pesos each) nightly to go into Tulum or Akumal for supper and picked up any grocery supplies, which worked very well for us but you may want to rent a car, if you don't want to walk every day. Diane was a wonderful hostess and really looked after us, over cyber space! She always responded to any inquiries within a fast time frame. This was the best VrBO rental that we have used in all of our trips so far. We highly recommend Diane's rental unit if you are considering the Mayan Riviera area. Don't forget the Cenotes and swimming with the turtles in Akumal, which we effortlessly reached by Colectivo.

Beautiful - many surprises - nice but would book through the resort if we ever go again.

Secluded, quiet with daily bed straightening and fresh towels included. It did have a distinct odor ~ a glade candle helped with this. Believe the other reviews. I discounted other reviews. You cannot really use the hot tub/jacuzzi - the hot water will not fill up enough to cover the jets. We tried filling it up and leaving it 3/4 full and then adding hot water to cover the jets - Doesn't work. You really cannot use the jacuzzi- unless you like cold water. Yes, you have ACCESS to all the amenities BUT, if you want to eat on property you must go to the property office (when they are open) and first purchase the meal(s/drinks) as the only place on property that accepts your charge/cash is the golf course or the gift shops. YES, that is correct. If you want to eat, drink or do anything while on-site you have to first pay in the office or you cannot buy food or beverages. (They suggested taking a cooler if we didn't want to purchase a package - well, we traveled from Minnesota and drat, we forgot to bring our cooler from home. You are also a fair distance from any store. They do have "all inclusive" dining/beverage options - again, you have to pre-arrange this when the property office is open. We ended up paying for a 5 day, all meals/snacks/beverages package - which was a good deal and the only option since we did not book through the resort. They will take credit cards and offer a discount for cash payment but when they write your receipt, they take/keep a credit card as "collateral." Your credit card goes in a little box, with a pile of receipts in their desk - NOT A SAFE. The way they keep up with this is by putting a wrist band on you that you (that you must wear for the entirety of your stay) have to turn in prior to leaving (which is why they keep your card so you will be sure to return the band). We paid $$$ - which would have been a good deal if we had booked with the resort initially. Granted, we should have done better research because this is what we learned: If we had booked directly with the resort - all would have been included - even transportation from the airport which was about an hour and a half away. We wouldn't have needed to rent a car. If we had booked through the all-inclusive adult resort our stay would have been less expensive overall. I will say that the owner was nice and prompt to respond. I recommend better instructions regarding "resort access" so prospective clients can make an informed decision.

Private modern condo on Gran Bahia Principe Property

My wife Lorraine and I spent 10 nights at this condo and loved it. The unit sits on the edge of the golf course with a strip of natural jungle providing a private screening from the fairway and providing habitat for tropical birds and the ever present Coatis to visit. Very peaceful setting. The patio as shown in the photo has a hot tub and seating to enjoy a relaxing drink and snacks. There is a full kitchen with new large fridge, gas stove and microwave. All utensils, cups, dishes etc are provided. A five gallon tank of bottled water is also there for safe drinking water. The bed is very comfortable and the living area is nicely furnished. The bathroom is marbled, with twin sinks, walk-in shower, and all toiletries and towels are provided. We used a golf cart shuttle to go to Sian Ka'an resort where we were permitted to use the pools and grounds. Fabulous!!! All staff members were so helpful and pleasant to us both at the condo and at Sian Ka'an resort where we spent the majority of our days. We would give the place a very high rating for an enjoyable stay. Sincerely, Jim and Lorraine Moerschel

Had a wonderful time.

My wife and I really enjoyed our first experience in Mexico at your condo. The place was easy to find, and when we arrived it was very cozy and comfortable. The owner made themselves available to us if we had any questions or concerns, and also checked up on us via email during our stay to ensure all was well. For people looking to be a little more self sufficient and wanting more privacy then the hotels area, I would certainly recommend this place. The resort itself is beautiful, and we spent a lot of time walking around and going to the beach. The beach was awesome, with an area where the water is calm and another area down a bit where big waves where crashing through. Outside of the resort we took a collectivo for 30-35 peso's each. Akumal beach has wonderful snorkling (we paid 20 peso's for collectivo cause its so close). Tulum was really interesting, but we paid a little more then reasonable for some drinks in coconuts (so we learned to always ask cuánto? (basically how much?) first. Also, since we did most of our own cooking we took the collectivo and my big hiking backpack to Chadraui the grocery store, about 10 minutes away. I have to say both me and my wife are excellent cooks, and the fruits and veggies here where amazing and perfectly ripe. Also, we got fresh corn tortilla from the bakery. Make sure to stock up on cerveza's and tequila here, because at the resort you'll pay 2-3 times more at the lobby shop (still cheaper than home though). Also if you head towards Tulum about 3 minutes from resort entrance by collectivo (10 peso's or pass) there is a 7/11 and Pemex where I'm sure you can get cheaper deals on liquor and sunscreen (we didn't go though). Sunscreen and sunglasses I would consider bringing from home next time, it is hard enough to find and expensive even at chadraui. Also, I would bring your own mask and snorkel from back home, test before leaving though. All in all, my wife and I had a very positive experience.

Relaxing and satisfying stay

My husband and I stayed at this property for 7 days and enjoyed it thoroughly. This was our first trip to Mexico so we wanted a comfortable place to stay at.We liked that the condo had a lovely open concept kitchen with a spacious refrigerator. The king bed in the main bedroom was quite spacious and comfortable as well, and the washer and dryer was very convenient. We were surprised that housekeeping came in every day to clean and change linens, but this might be due to the fact that we are generally a pretty independent couple. However it was nice to have them come in. We enjoyed having access to the shuttle that took us down to the spectacular private beach within the bahia principe resort and we never had much trouble at all with getting some lounge chairs to sit on. We also enjoyed being able to attend the live music shows at the Dona Isabel building. We did not rent a car, so we had to walk and hop onto the collectivos to do our grocery shopping at the Chedraui- we liked the exercise but would definitely rent a car next time. Diane and Pierre were also very prompt and efficient in answering any questions we had prior to our visit which was very professional in our pinion and which would lead us to return in the future.

Pleasant stay!

My wife and I stayed at the condo for one week and we had a very pleasant stay. Before arriving at the condo we had four days in Playa del Carmen, and we rented a car for our stay at the condo (although only for four days). The condo is just as described on the website and is located in the beautiful but large Bahia Principe complex in Akumal. We had no problems with the check-in procedures. Diane and Pierre, the condo owners, were very helpful throughout the booking process, providing advice on car rentals, etc, and they even arranged for us to have an early check-in time. The kitchen comes well-equipped; however, it would have been nice if there was an oven or BBQ. There were also no spices or general cooking supplies in the cupboards left by previous occupants. The WalMart in Playa del Carmen is a good option for groceries, but we also stocked up at the Chedraui in Tulum after seeing the ruins and spending a day on the beach (El Paraiso Beach Club – very nice!). The Wi-Fi in the condo worked great, and we really appreciated having the washer and dryer. The air conditioning also kept us comfortable, sometimes turning it off at night in the bedroom and using only the ceiling fan. The condo is in a central location to visit pretty much all of the popular Mayan Riviera sites. As the owners suggest you really should have a car to get the most out of a stay at the Queztal condos, but you could get by without one if you don’t mind using the Colectivo bus and/or taxis. Taxis to get to Akumal restaurants are about 200 pesos. It is about a 10 minute walk from the condo to the Sian K’aan resort to catch the BP shuttle that you can use at no additional cost to get to the resorts on the beach side of the highway. The Bahia Principe resorts are very nice. We had the dinner buffet at the Sian K’aan and Tulum resorts (extra cost) and spent three days lounging under the palapas at the Tulum resort beach (no extra cost) with our own lunch and drink “picnic” basket. If you are more of an independent traveler who wants greater control of your vacation and isn’t looking for a lot of pampering, then you will be quite happy with your stay at Quetzal Bahia Principe.

Why they chose this property

My brother and I love to travel. Mexico and the Riviera Maya is one of our favorite place in the world. The people, the climate, the sea, the food and the sun make this part of the world a wonderful place to be.
We decided to buy a condo there in 2015 and hope to give people a chance to discover this magical area!
