RENOVATIONS NOW NOT AVAILABLE, Our home is now available for September 2020 for rental by responsible family wanting to enjoy Lake Hyco. Visitors coming to the Roxboro area for any other purpose should take advantage of local hotels that will should meet your needs.

We have added new features to enhance your vacation experience. Some of the activities and services offered may not be available for the time that you book our home. All of the unique activities should be discussed and arranged separately with the owner prior to arrival. Allowing for sufficient time to arrange activities would help to insure availability.

Our home has not been available much for several seasons but the past comments reflect the experience you should have during your visit. Some of the new features and opportunities include a new stone patio with fire pit for those families who want to enjoy making s'mores. Our large boat dock is the perfect lake location to catch a wide variety of fish. If members of your family would like fishing instruction, we would be happy to arrange an experienced outdoorsman to assist you with hands on instruction and tips. large selection of movies for entertainment. The pictures we show does not accurately reflect the beauty of our cabin. My view is that it is that you will be pleasantly surprised. Everyone has been thrilled. I want to be sure our home is the right property for your visit. Our place is very unique property. Please share a bit about your group and ages so I can share details that may be helpful. If you are planning a visit to the lake, this is an awesome home to rent. However, if you are coming to the area for work or participating at the race track, this is not the property for you. The Hampton Inn is a much more convenient place for all non lake visitors. Our lake home is located in high water and on the lake. Prior to booking I always like to discuss our home with our future guests to be sure it is the right fit for your visit to Lake Hyco.

Our home is a Gorgeous, large three-floor log cabin (built from the logs of the American tobacco barns) that has been professionally renovated, decorated and completely modernized. Nothing like it on Hyco. Never available before! Available for weekly rent. We have a 4 day minimum rental period. This luxurious, secure home is located at the end of a mile-long private road away from the main road. The cabin has three bedrooms and three full bathrooms (one bathroom has an original Victorian claw foot tub). Fully equipped modern kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances opens up to a large living/dining area that boasts a wood burning stone fire place. However, the fire place is only available during colder weather. Balcony / deck off living room makes you believe you are sitting in a tree house away from the rest of the world. Huge master bedroom suite with King bed opens up to private outdoor sitting area overlooking the lake. Elegant stone walkways surround the cabin and stairs lead you to a 140' long boat dock w/ lift in deep water. Private and quiet cove conducive to water sports, swimming kayaking, and more. Gas grill available for simple summer bar-b-ques, as well as fire pit for toasting marshmallows. Perfect for adults, kids and pets. This season 2021 we DO NOT have high speed internet but we have Apple TV. No internet provider can serve us do to our location and trees. Break away from the TV and internet for your time here..Recharge your batteries in what nature has to offer not the computer. However, If you have a data plan with your phone carrier, your phone can be used as a hot spot and the internet will work great. Please bring your own Net Flick, Hulu or Amazon Prime account information so you can log on to watch movies but remember you must have a data plan to access it. Much more to see than what I have described!

Please know VRBO has changed a few things to assist our renters and make it easier for bookings. All my bookings have previously been done via direct discussion with my potential guests. I always want to be sure that our property is the right fit for our future guests. Our home is so unique and at times our home is not the right fit. Though I now have the ability for our guests to book and pay directly using the VRBO platform, I am still working individually with my guests confirming the rental details as well as receiving payment via a check to hold the reservation for those that desire that method. Whatever is the easiest way for our guests. Please note that though the calendar is empty, our home may or may not be already rented. Please call. I am still getting use to the new way VRBO is operating.

Terrific place!

Our family had a fantastic stay at John's cabin. John was very accommodating and checked on us multiple times during our vacation. The cabin is comfortable and unique, the setting is beautiful, and the lake/dock is outstanding for hanging out, fishing, swimming, and boating. Highly recommend!

We'd stay here again in a heartbeat! Plenty of room for three couples, 2 small kids and one baby. Great deck overlooking the lake, the dock is spacious and the swimming is awesome. John was very helpful and made sure everything was right with the property at the beginning of our stay. Great place for a vacation.

For those living in the Triad or Triangle areas of North Carolina, very close and convenient. For everyone, a beautiful, well-appointed cabin on a deep-water lake, great for swimming. Quiet, serene. Owners are very helpful and very attentive. Recommended.

Had a great time!

My wife, twin boys, niece and lab enjoyed our first lake visit to Hyco Lake. The house was rustic and full of neat items and was very comfortable. John and Virginia were very accommodating and our dog enjoyed swimming and handing out with their dogs. We would consider coming back. Thank you again for a great getaway!

Wonderful Family Get Away

What an amazing family get away. The property was gorgeous and nestled into a beautiful, secluded lake. John was more than accommodating in making sure we got everything we needed. The only minor issue was clarifying whether the in law suite was being rented by others while we were there (which I believe the owners is clarifying in the listing). In closing, we simply loved the place and hope to come back soon. The pictures simply don't do justice to how amazing the cabin and the surroundings are.

Peaceful and refreshing

Our family came away refreshed by swimming and fishing off the great deck, kayaking, and delicious food off the grill. Our souls were nourished by the view down the ivy-covered, wooded hillside to the placid lake and quiet conversations on the porch. We enjoyed the amenities of a hotel, but in a rustic, quaint, private setting. Would love to make it an annual tradition.

This home is even more beautiful than the pictures. Our family of 6 spent 4 nights in this Hyco Lake home. The home was immaculate! The bedrooms are large and each has it's own sitting area. A beautiful kitchen that was well appointed with kitchenware, condiments and spices. We spent most of our time on the large back deck overlooking the lake.John was the perfect host. He met us at agreed time and went over all the details that make staying in someone else's home much easier. What a retreat! Can't wait to visit again!

Wonderful Holiday Weekend

We have stayed at this cabin two years in a row on Memorial Day weekend. The area is beautifully wooded, quiet, boasts a wide view of the lake, and the home has been remodeled with modern amenities including a fully stocked kitchen and wifi. Our host has been gracious both stays and went above and beyond to ensure the home was well stocked and that we were comfortable. Would highly recommend!

Home away from home

If you want a quiet, comfortable vacation on the lake, this is the house for you. Our family loved the huge dock and enjoying our meals on the porch. What a view! Indeed it is like a treehouse. Oh, and we loved the house too! We hope to return next year. Thanks for sharing your dream home.

We are a family of five (mom, dad, daughter and two dogs (Zigg and Claude, our poodles). When we moved to NC (about 25 years ago) we decided to buy a second home on a lake. We dreamed about having a cozy log cabin but never believed we would find one, particularly a 19th century cabin! I guess dreams do come true! I am a licensed NC auctioneer with appraisingplus and my wonderful wife Virginia is a designer. Once you set foot in the cabin you will be able to see for yourself our work passions being realized by how the cabin is furnished and decorated. Unlike other renters, we try to enjoy our place as much as possible and rent our cabin enough to qualify for some tax relief. You will not find "rental" furnishings in our home. In the past, we have always had wonderful guests enjoying our place. We look forward to your family becoming our next great family to visit Hyco Lake. Prior to renting feel free to reach out to us with questions you may have. We want to be sure our home is the right fit you’re your family.

Why they chose this property

There are a number of wonderful properties for rent on Lake Hyco but this home is a very unique 19th century cabin that has been modernized and offers a touch of class along with amenities not offered by other owners. Seeing is believing. If you are looking for ordinary, try one of the other fine homes listed for rent. Please remember that this is a 19th century structure that has been updated but cobwebs and other outside "things" may appear from time to time. If you do not appreciate the great outdoors for what it offers, then our place may not be right for you.

What makes this property unique

Everything about this cabin is unique and magical. When you sit on the balcony overlooking the lake, it is like no one else exists in the world except the Blue Heron who sits on the edge of the dock. You can even witness the fish jumping. When you wake and sit up in bed from the master suite, you have a perfect view of Hyco. The sound of rain on the tin roof is soothing and comforting. Soaking in the claw foot tub is a great way to relax. The 140' long dock allows you to swim, picnic and play without being cramped. It is the perfect place to get away. For a small delivery fee, you can get your fridge stocked prior to your arrival (be reasonable owner is shopping for you, that's me) If your family includes children under 18 and you would like them to experience the fun of tubing behind a fast boat in a safe manner, which can be arranged. Because we are living in difficult times, I am offering this mostly free just asking our guests to chip in for the gas. I want your time at my home to be awesome. If you or family members enjoy fishing, the boat dock is the best location to becoming successful. It is not skill it is all out where the boat dock sits. If I can catch a fish, anyone can! There is a picture posted of a recent catch. How about taking a sunset boat ride! Our Bennington is a tritoon. A tritoon boat is the most stable vessel available. It is like having a floating formal living room siting on three separate boat stabilizers. If you sometimes experience motion sickness going out on a boat, there is a high likelihood you will not while boating on this Bennington pontoon! This is mostly free as well. Boating may not be available. If you plan a trip while I am out of town, then those activities. Following an evening boat experience, take advantage of the fire pit and roast up some smores then follow that up with a great movie.
