We had a fabulous time in the lake. My only recommendations would be cleats on the dock, ceiling fans in the other bedrooms, and possibly paving the driveway. It was difficult when we had the boat tied up getting in and out of it cause you were having to step over ropes each time. Also got very toasty at night in the rooms. And that steep driveway was hard to get luggage down. I fell coming down it the first time. Otherwise the stay was fabulous. Would recommend.

For the price quite a disappointment
The temperature was close to freezing the night we spent here and the gas fireplace was not functional. In addition, there was no mention in the listing that the TV only worked as a means to view videos--there was no cable or satellite TV available.
Not worth anywhere near what we paid.

In this case, like any where we can accommodate, we allow early check in and late check out to add value. We love for you to get your money's worth.
Please note that while we have a fireplace we do not list it as it is not operational at the moment. Our home does NOT depend on the fireplace for warmth. We have a new central heating and air condition unit as well as a new heating/AC/dehumidifier dedicated to the lower floor. This unit is above the stereo and the remote control is marked.
We don't advertise cable and we never will. Leave that stuff behind when you come to Hyco Lake. You can watch Family Feud reruns when you get back to the real world!
We hope this helps.

If you want a getaway next door to a junkyard, with bugs in the showers, cobwebs everywhere & mold growing on the pots & pans, then this is the place for you! From the moment you pull up, you’ll be wowed by the junk cars, falling down fence & overgrown weeds surrounding the property. Then as you step into the caked dirt on the porch & dodge the spiderwebs to get the key to unlock the door, you are greeted by the stench of mildew & mustiness. It literally slaps you in the face. Don’t lose that key though, because you’ll need it to also lock & unlock the door on the inside! (Hope you don’t have an emergency!) Moving into the house, you’ll notice stained rugs, dirty (and I mean DIRTY!) surfaces & sticky floors. There were bugs crawling in the bathtubs & none of the garbage cans had bags. On the upside, we felt confident that the dishwasher & dryer both worked because the previous guests’ dishes & laundry were still in them! (It was just crazy!) When we opened the fridge, we found a stranger’s old, rotten food & when we pulled out pans to make dinner, they were covered in mold. There was also mold growing on the ceiling over the stove. All electronics were about 20 yrs old, so forget streaming movies (no smart TV) & the WiFi was terrible. We tried working with the owner to make it right, but he refused. Totally ridiculous. Get a tent or a teepee or a blanket to sleep under the stars, but WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING RENTAL! See pics!
The house is amazing! Big bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms, huge kitchen with all the amenities, and comfy furniture in the family room. It’s nice that the house is on a quiet part of the lake, so relaxing to just sit on the dock and listen to the water and nature. But can we talk about the back enclosed porch….it is the best part of the place!! Loved sitting out there every morning with my coffee and breakfast, so peaceful! I highly recommend this property and would definitely love to go back again some day! The hosts were quick to respond to any questions I had from the time of booking all the way through our trip. Five star propery and 5 star hosts!!
The inside of the house felt clean, and the couches and beds were very comfortable. The house was well stocked with anything and everything you might need. Our only (very minor) complaint was that once you went outside, it was spider web city. Granted, its the middle of summer on a wooded lot, so there are going to be eight leggeds all around. But a little more time spent cleaning up the web mess might help with the 'creapy-crawley' factor. Just for awareness - the lane that goes to the house is a gravel road (we thought we'd made a mistake when we were turning in for the first time), and there is no cable or means to get TV - not that we could find anyway. There are DVD's and a video game system, but my preference - bring a good book or two and enjoy the incredible peace and quiet! Beautiful lot, and beautiful lake and view! Sitting on the dock in the morning was magical!
This was our 2nd time renting this property. We loved it so much last year we decided to rent again. Stay was great! New mini fridge at the boat house was a great upgrade from last year. Lots of floats and towels. The screened in porch is my favorite and qhere we spent alot of our time. All the comforts of home. My guests were pleased with the property as well. We had a great time and made lots of memories. Will definitely rent again.
Rented this home while attending a wedding at Hyco. Was fully stocked and prepared for us upon arrival. Had plenty of sleeping space of which we needed for guests. Nice quiet relaxing home on Hyco.
My sisters and I had a great get away here. We spent most of our time on the dock or in the screened in porch. The warning about the driveway is true. The driveway is a little treacherous and steep. We parked at the top and we were very careful walking down. We enjoyed our stay.
Property in middle of no where...absolutely perfect for a great price!!
Only issue we had was the fact that we couldn't enjoy the peace and quiet more than we did. Nothing to do with the property, but rather due to being away from it the majority of each day of our stay because of previous commitments. We talked about looking into booking a week sometime next year with no plans other than just relaxing. This property is top notch with all needs supplied at an extremely affordable price.
The house was everything it was presented to be online. Spacious and clean. The screened in porch was the most used room by far. The balcony off the master was nice as well. Kitchen was fully stocked. Bathrooms were fully stocked as well. All you need is your personal items. We cooked all our meals on the gas grill. The dock was great for fishing and swimming. Plenty of bath and beach towels. Easy clean up before checkout. Recieved an email from the owner with all the details needed for check in which was a big plus! I would definitely rent this property again in the future!
The house is in a great location - very quiet and shallow cove with not a lot of boat/car traffic. The driveway is steep so only drive down it if you have a 4x4 vehicle but it’s a short driveway so not a bad walk to load/unload. All of the bedrooms were clean and they all had lots of room and space, especially the master bedroom! The kitchen/living room area is in the basement and also had lots of open space and room. There isn’t any cable which is fine because we just watched DVDs the whole time. There are some DVDs there but bring some if you want more choices. Also, I brought an Amazon Firestick hoping to play Netflix but the service/WiFi isn’t the best so we couldn’t use it but we were fine without it. The kitchen is fully stocked and everything you need is there. We LOVED the screened in porch and spent almost all of our time there. There is a nice grill to use if you need it. The dock is nice and there were some HUGE floats there that were perfect, there’s a shop vac to blow them up quick. We brought a boat and the only bad part about the dock is there’s no cleats on the dock to tie off a boat but we made do and tied a rope around a post. The ladders on the dock are not the best either, especially the one on the deepest part so be careful using them. But we took the chairs from the porch and sat on the dock one night which was peaceful. Overall, amazing place and very comfortable. Lots of room and space and had everything you needed. Amazing time and the lake is gorgeous!
First time here. Had a great week. The property is on a mostly isolated cove of the lake so we could get out and float off the dock without worrying about boats too much. The place was fairly well stocked as far as the kitchen (could have used a decent frying pan and an indoor dining table). Beach towels, chair and floats were a bonus. Perfect for a family with adult children.
This is a beautiful secluded property on beautiful Hyco llake. We enjoyed our stay at this generously stocked house. We were commuting to Burlington for a baseball tournament we only wish we had more lake time.
Located in a very quiet and serene country setting, the drive to the property prepares you for a relaxing, comfy time away from the routine. The home is very spacious and the surrounding environment inviting to explore. Or, the multiple patios afford just staying put and enjoying the beautiful lake and natural environment.
