About this property
Historic registry farmhouse w/country feel, but close to Notre Dame!
This home has history, space to spread out, modern comforts and the peace of being secluded in a wooded haven, yet restaurants are within walking distance! And, it's all yours! This is NOT a primary or shared residence. Its sole purpose is to provide you with a relaxing getaway without having to worry about host belongings or clutter! A modern kitchen with granite counter tops and amazing appliances greet you upon entry. The large formal dining room will take you back to the 1800's and feels more like a ballroom with its 11' ceilings. The stair landings will make you say "awww!" The parlor and living rooms provide main floor gathering spaces, while the former office provides a main floor bedroom. There is also a full bathroom on the main floor. We are excited to tell you that the sun room has been converted into a spa room, complete with a hot tub and sauna (separate access fee)!! The upper level has 4 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths. The lower level has a more rustic feel like a pub, with natural wood beams overhead, and stone walls. The lower level also has another large bedroom as well as a full bathroom. Outside, if you didn't see it when you came in, you will find an amazing patio, complete with gas grill. That cute little cottage beside it has a queen bed, full bathroom, and kitchenette (separate access fee)! The rest of the farmstead has a large garage for our maintenance equipment. Check out the old silo beyond the parking area! The back pasture is more of an orchard with apple, cherry and other fruit trees that grace the property, and we have grape vines there, too.

Delightful historic quirky old home near Notre Dame, with easy access on game day. Plenty of beds for our group, which was a mixture of friends and family. Kitchen with its sitting area and the dining room were great for gathering and visiting. We loved sitting around the fire pit outside after the game. Hope to be back in the future!
The place was spacious enough for our Bible retreat group of 12,loved the long table for group discussions and setting down eating together.lights went out while sleep was glad you sent me a email letting us know when to expect them back on.Every room was nice and clean. Our 2nd time staying here and will be back next year.
The farm house suited our needs perfectly for several families and children. The description on VRBO accurately described the property. The property also has a large open grassy yard that was unexpected but enjoyed by the kids. Close to town with anything you may need from groceries, pharmacies, hardware store and Walmart is close by. We used as home base for a wedding at Ferwiod gardens
The house was very neat to visit! The historic nature of the house was cool for the kids to see and even learn about. The house was well stocked with all amenities. The hosts were super helpful and even bought a sprinkler for the kids to play with because of the hot heat during our stay. The property was also very close to many places - grocery, shopping, activities, Notre Dame, etc!
My sisters and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay. Kitchen is fabulous, we cooked many of our meals. We each had out own bedrooms! Excellent country feel, but close to local stores/shops. We especially enjoyed the closeness of "The Chief" Ice Cream!
The historic farmhouse was fascinating! This was great for our family reunion with ages ranging from 10-80. We appreciated the number of rooms and the option of the cottage and spa. The large dining table was perfect for us all to eat together and to play games. The outdoor space was great for yard games and hanging out around the campfire in the evening. David is a very prompt responder and gives very clear instructions. This is a great place to stay!
THE WONDERFUL: We had a spectacular time at this property! We were struck right away upon arrival by just how beautiful this listing is. The fresh snowfall added an extra air of charm and warmth to this gorgeous historic home. From the original wood flooring and metal hardware to the antique furniture and historic photos around the home - it felt like a true step back in time. But not without the comforts of modern times! It boasts a beautiful kitchen with a wide range of tools and appliances. With a large group reunion, it tends to be difficult to find accommodations with a comfortable variety of living spaces, bedrooms, and restrooms. This home stood out with ample options for all three, allowing us space to spread out, relax, and catch up - and dining room space for us to all eat at the same table! The cherry on top was the attentive, kind host, who send prompt responses to any and all requests, proactively sending reminders with helpful information for check in and check out. An absolute pleasure to interact with!TO BE AWARE OF: With our stay in January in a historic home, a bit of uneven heating is to be anticipated. There is an easily accessible thermostat and plenty of blankets around the home to keep cozy in any chillier rooms! Some low banisters or uneven flooring can come with the age, just be aware. We had a wonderful time and would stay again in a heartbeat new year!
Big farm house with plenty of beds; nice kitchen, great Country Table and outdoor Patio for large groups. Clean and property well maintained. Overall communication with owners excellent - note, water pressure not the best but okay. Spa and Cottage featured in photos are extra costs above and beyond advertised fees (only noted in property detail write-up).
The property was perfect for our group! The pictures do not do the property justice! The yard is great for outdoor games and the place is perfect for a large group in the beautiful home!
We had a really nice time at this spacious and clean property. Big group with 14-16 people and kids included. The kitchen was well set up and stocked for a big group, the huge dining room table is perfect for gathering everyone together, the property has a lot of room outside to play, plenty of rooms, beds and bathrooms, and the host is very polite/responsive. Everyone loved their stay and we hope to book this place again for future trips.
We stayed here to attend our daughters wedding at Saint Joe’s farm. It was a great place to gather after all of the festivities wind down. Nice large area to sit and talk with family. Would definitely stay here again!
Great experience. Clean inside and out. Utilized the spa which had plenty of towels etc. Management was easy to work with and they accommodated reasonable special requests. Easily handled our group comfortably.
We enjoyed our stay at this historic home. David was very helpful and thorough in communication. Definitely a five star recommendation for this property.
Our extended family stayed here for a Notre Dame Football weekend, and it had everything we needed. The beds were all made, and there were towels for everyone. Supplies were stocked precisely where they should be. Check-in and check-out were straightforward. Grocery stores, restaurants, etc., are nearby. We will likely choose this house every year for our family gatherings.
Fun property, open ,lots of room , fun to explore close to everything but out of the way, store close restaurants close parks and pickleball close, big table. Game rooms. Sleeping areas. Great for large group or family
This quaint, historic house had everything to offer for a cozy stay, whether visiting the Southbend area or going to the game. We enjoyed: the spacious scenic property, huge dining room table, large kitchen, ecletic decoe & pictures, 3 minute walk to the Indiana-Michigan border, and so much more. There were plenty of cozy bedrooms, bathrooms, hottub & sauna, great patio, big screen TV to watch the games, etc. We loved this beautiful property, had a great time, and would definitely stay again.
Great central location. Large enough to have multiple families stay together. Everyone had a bed (mattresses could stand an upgrade) and plenty of bathrooms. Cottage was cute and perfect for extra privacy. Plenty of space for cars and kids enjoyed playing outside. Loved, loved, loved the long table for the family to gather!
We stayed at the farmhouse with our adult children and grandchildren. The house had plenty of space for all of us! The beautiful dining room was perfect! The hot tub and sauna we’re definitely a hit and the large patio and grill were great as well! The kids loved playing games in the large yard. We will definitely come back!
