Everything was like what was listed. The place was very clean. The host was very responsive and respectful. The host even repaired the screen door to the deck when we arrived

Thank you Emily , glad you enjoyed your stay , best regards .... Jeff
Communication was great. The home was cozy and clean. Sunrise across the lake every morning was beautiful and sunset on Lake Michigan 6 minutes down the road was nice!
For the price the cabin is very fine. The place gets better as you learn to enjoy all that the "fishing cabin" has to offer. The view from rthe deck overlooking the lake is very peaceful.
Nice quiet safe neighborhood. Just was very helpful with location, having fire wood, he also told us about a hidden gem to check out. We already have our next stay booked.
Jeff (the host) was super responsive and helpful, and the cottage was great. Cottage is definitely older and "quirky" but clean, comfortable, right on the lake and close to all the area attractions. Would absolutely stay here again.

About the host
Hosted by Jeff DuPilka
The cottage and surrounding property have been in the DuPilka family since 1957 when my parents, Joseph and Doris purchased it. Over the year they were able to acquire some additional lots for the property is protected from development.
I have been coming to Bear Lake since I was 5 years olds. If I had my way, I would be here all the time but, hey, a guy has to work, right. I do try to come up as many weekends during the summer season that I can and I also am up quite a lot in the winter. The area is beautiful with a fresh, clean snowfall.
Why they chose this property
I was five years old when my folks purchased the property in 1957. The original purchase consisted of 300 feet on the lake which included two cottages and a garage. The cottage you are in now and one other which we called the Bunkhouse. The bunkhouse was remodeled into the house next door in the early 1970’s. This cottage was originally as big as the kitchen area and was actually moved here on two very large cedar logs approximately 36 feet long. The logs are still in place under the structure today.
What makes this property unique
Lake frontage, proximity to cities, both big and small in in Michigan, Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Detroit, Manistee, Holland, Big Rapids, Flint. I have had quite a few renters from Indiana over the last couple of years as well as a couple of people from Florida. Bear Lake is a draw for people from all over that want to be able to unwind, relax and enjoy themselves.
Bear Lake is an all sports lake and activities on the water include, fishing, boating, skiing, swimming, jet skiing, kayaking, canoeing and just about any water activity you can think of. Lots to do in and around the water. The cottage has boat dock access. As me about pontoon and kayak rental if you have an interest in either of those activities.
Fire pit and fire wood available on the property for your enjoyment.
