Liked: Cleanliness, check-in
The house was cute, beds were comfortable, loved the nice new bathrooms! Cozy living room, kitchen was nicely layout and had most of the things you would need to prepare a meal. Only a few negatives, one the river behind the house was extremely low due to the damn that was being repaired. We picked this house for the water excess for fishing. We still managed to fish but in a water source that was more like a creek than a Rough River. The other downside was the distance to the cave was a lot further than we anticipated. But all in all we still had a great time and would love to come back when the damn is fixed. It’s a beautiful area.
Nice house on a quiet piece of land, but the host forgot to mention that there is no river in March. I knew the Army Corps drains some lakes and rivers in Kentucky, so I specifically asked the host about the river level since my 13-year-old son loves to fish. Unfortunately, she didn’t tell me the truth. When we arrived, we found only a dried-up creek, which was a big disappointment for my son and for us. We could have rented a house for a better price and much closer to the national park, but we feel we were misled by the host.We won’t be coming back, even though the property itself is nice.

We are so glad the house met your expectations for your trip.
Per our conversation before your arrival, I reported the river being low for the winter, it is never "dried up", and I reported the docks were NOT floating. If that information was misleading, we sincerely apologize.
Beautiful home and the lake access / lot is fantastic. Impressed and every family member from 17-60 enjoyed themselves. The owners attention to detail and luxurious touches were appreciated!!
This is a really nice home on a beautiful piece of property. The large deck is a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy the view. The living area gave the kids plenty of space to play. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Our granddaughter is already asking to go back!
Wonderful views of nature from the deck, screened-in porch, and all the rooms of the house, really, especially from the living room with its big windows. There's a nice walking trail going down to the water. The house was very nice with contemporary touches such as an electric fireplace, dual shower, and live-edge wood furniture. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable. I recommend this place and would stay here again.
Great location. Few things that could’ve made the trip more enjoyable. Fire alarm randomly went off at night while sleeping and the beds are absolutely hard. Will probably not plan a trip back unless these items get fixed.
the house was very clean and cozy.the location was great in a quiet neighborhood.we enjoyed the river being so close for fishing and relaxing.the view from the deck was perfect.we are very much looking forward to going back.
Nice clean new house. River was really high and it rained most of the weekend so we didn’t get out and do as much as we would have liked. Screened in porch was wonderful and fire pit made plenty of s’mores!!!
Our family really enjoyed our stay at this rental. The house is very nice - was secluded, clean, and had all the essentials. We saw deer and lots of birds. We definitely recommend this house to anyone visiting the Leitchfield area.
Great property, water views on 3 sides. A grill would have been nice but over all would highly recommend, especially since we were able to bring our dog with us to enjoy as well. Home was beautiful.
The host was so accommodating for us.. Unfortunately we had t go to a funeral that was not expected.. they made it happen for us and set us up quick and made ou stay as well as they could given the circumstances would highly recommended this place and we will definitely stay there again
The property is new and well-equipped. The location was quiet and spacious, in a great tucked away area right on the lake. There was an easy gravel path access to a fairly secluded, quiet rocky beach area, with public beaches located within a 20 minute drive. Communication with the host was responsive and friendly. The accommodations were well-equipped and well-thought out with pretty much anything one could need for a pleasant stay. The screened in porch was an added bonus on buggy nights. My favorite spot for a morning coffee.

The porch is our favorite thing too. Thanks so much.
The house was supplied with most everything we needed from cooking supplies, cleaning, and showering. Very beautiful and clean home with nice open living room area. The master bathroom had a Jack and Jill shower very modern! Wi-Fi and even a record player was supplied. They had some basics there including coffee and butter. The backyard fire pit and chairs were perfect. The view was amazing. The river was good too look at but definitely not to swim in. You could jump off the dock but you don't want to touch the bottom it was very mucky. We tried to fish but with no luck.. We were told to go around the bend a little bit for better fishing. The nearest gas station or store was about a 15 minute ride. Dollar General and Walmart were our main grocery and liquor stores. Mammoth Cave was one hour ten minutes away. The woods were beautiful and cardinals were everywhere!
We enjoyed the peacefulness and seclusion of the property. Liked watching the squirrels and chipmunks and deer in the woods from the deck. There are other houses nearby but it was quiet and we still felt like we were alone. Spent a lot of time in front of the fireplace on the very comfortable couch just watching TV or on the porch enjoying the fall breeze. My only feedback would be that it would be nice to have an end table on both sides in the master bedroom, more hooks or storage in the master bathroom, and a sponge or even dishrags in the kitchen so we could wash dishes. Just small things but overall we were very happy with our stay and would recommend!

Disliked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
This property is ill equipped to be a VRBO. It lacks cupboards to store any of your groceries. So you have to leave everything out on the counter. This was hard for me as I am a clean freak. The downstairs bedroom bath room has no place to keep your toiletries. There are no shelves or medicine cabinet. Empty bottles of dove soap had to removed to make room for my shampoo and body wash. The fire alarm went off early one morning and continued to reset then go back into alarm. I called the host but no one ever came to the house. Now the host is accusing me of smoking in her home.
Great place to stay on Rough River! The house was clean, with plenty of room for our family to spread out, sit on the sectional and talk, sit at the table to play games, or sit out in the screened in porch to eat and enjoy the view. We had beautiful weather to enjoy the beach area just a short 2 min walk away. My mother-in-law did have a bit of a hard time with the walk to the lake. There's a path, it is a little steep. Just something to keep in mind if you have anyone with mobility problems. My husband ended up driving her down and back with a side path and that worked out well. The firepit is a great place to unwind at the end of the day. There is no outside grill. They do have a George Foreman grill inside. This wasn't a deal breaker for us as we brought a small charcoal grill with us. You do hear some road noise, it's not constant, but you can hear if from outside on the deck and firepit area and down at the lake. Again, this wasn't a deal breaker for us. The beach area is rocky. We used our water shoes and it worked out great. We did a lot of fishing; however, they just weren't biting much for us. We saw lots of fish in the lake. We brought our paddleboard and our son enjoyed using it on the lake and taking it out to fish. There's lots of spots to fish from the shore, but it is very rocky. The house feels very secluded. Our family gave it a 2 thumbs up and would definitely stay here again if/when we visit Rough River, KY.
