About the host
Hosted by Owner/Property Manager
I am a retired author and lawyer in land use and and environmental law. My wife and I are both avid readers of history and culture. We attend the musical festivals here in Queretaro as well as the symphony concerts. My wife is a great cook, she hosts gourmet dinners, and the kitchen we built for her, when we built the home, and which you can see at is equipped for her use.
Why they chose this property
We have traveled extensively in Mexico and, from our point of view, Queretaro is the most interesting and safest place in the country. We had thought of living in San Miguel de Allende with its larger American community; but Queretaro has more culture, music, restaurants, shopping, spas, theater, schools, museums, universities, and historical places of interest than San Miguel. The vitality of Queretaro and all it has to offer can be savored at We built this property in 1991-1993 to our taste for our retirement. We built a Colonial Hacienda style home, but to American electrical and plumbing standards. We selected the site for its panoramic views of the city, the vast array of city lights below, the ancient aqueduct, the mountains, and the sunsets. The location is also near the historical center, restaurants, and tennis and swimming and exercise clubs. Three private schools that emphasize English are just at the bottom of the hill. As an author, I also found it convenient to have the three international private maillers, DHL, FedEx, and UPS all together at the bottom of the hill. We have quick access to the major highways that lead south, to Mexico City and beyond; north, to the US border and south-east to the Queretaro International Airport.
