About this property

Fully remodeled Private Cabin on 60 acres with pond and stream

Used formerly as a loggers cabin in the early 1900's; this cabin is in the woods with privacy, yet only a 15-20 min drive to Penn State University. The cabin features a stone wood fireplace, a half bath and separate shower area. There are two bedrooms on the second floor with three twin beds and one queen in the front bedroom and three twin beds and one double in the back bedroom. There is a TV downstairs with a fire stick. So, please bring your passwords for any and all streaming needs. There is cell phone coverage and WIFI is available. An outdoor fire pit along with numerous hiking trails also exist.
If you're looking for a party cabin, this isn't it! Responsible adult inquiries only. Please no smoking, no pets.
The pond is a short walk and is stocked with large mouth bass, perch, and catfish; and is catch and release only. In the summer, top water lures and weedless lures work best.

The stream that runs through the property is small, but large enough that it holds native trout.

We continue to ask all guests to bring their own bed linens, pillows, toiletries, bath towels, and any blanket / comforters; you may desire.

We had a wonderful stay! The cabin was very clean and the perfect family getaway. We loved fishing at the pond and spending evenings around the fire pit. The location was great, close to Penn State and restaurants. Way Fruit Farm is a must, especially for the cider, and Black Moshannon State Park was absolutely beautiful for stargazing. The host was easy to communicate with. We would definitely stay again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The cabin’s seclusion provided a much-appreciated retreat. Its location was convenient for visiting state parks, and the local restaurants offered excellent food with friendly service.The host’s directions and instructions were thorough and easy to follow.

Craig and his family maintain a beautiful place and are a joy to work with. For the second year in a row, we've stayed here to participate in a wrestling tournament in State College and again it was easy, smooth, fair, and a pleasure to stay. I highly recommend this cabin as it is in a great location, quiet and off the road, and an easy process from beginning to end.

Great spot. Quiet and clean. The grounds had lots to offer. Used as a jumping off point for some fishing and the Little J was pretty close. Bit more of a drive to Penn Creek, but perfect PA landscape to take in the whole time. Thanks!

Father/son Fishing Trip

Craig’s cabin was a perfect quick getaway for a visit to see our son at Penn State. Quiet and remote but only 1/2 hr from campus. It had all the amenities we needed. The steps were a bit steep but not a problem. Loved the outdoor areas (firepit, trails, porches). Would absolutely stay here again. Thanks Craig!

Short family getaway

Enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the cabin! Our teenage boys enjoyed being able to fish in the pond and we all loved sitting by the fire and catching up in the evenings!

My wife and I purchased this property as a recreational property to escape to. Our family uses the property to hunt, fish and enjoy the outdoors. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting on the front porch or sitting around the fire pit on a crisp morning enjoying our coffee and company, while watching all the wildlife. It is our hope that you enjoy it as well.

Why they chose this property

Being a graduate of Penn State, we fell in love with the area and all it has to offer. We were looking for property close to Penn State, but also offered privacy in the woods, surrounded by an abundance of wildlife.

What makes this property unique

We have created a forest stewardship plan and are constantly tending to our forest and numerous food plots around the property. There is an active sawmill on the property that helps put to good use the renewable resource of the forest. In the winter we enjoy tapping our maple trees and making syrup. We live nearby and are blessed that we can use the cabin all year long.
