The Space:

The pine‑scented air greets you as you step onto the wraparound deck, steam rising from the hot tub while the fire pit crackles nearby. Inside, the wood‑burning fireplace casts a warm glow across the open living area, inviting you to unwind after a day of exploring the woods. Snow‑dusted peaks frame the horizon, and the quiet of the forest makes every moment feel like a gentle pause from the world.

Sleeping arrangements

The loft houses a king bedroom tucked beneath the peaked ceiling, offering a spacious retreat. On the main level, two bedrooms each feature queen over queen bunk beds, perfect for families or groups. All beds are dressed with linens, extra pillows, and blankets to keep you cozy through cooler evenings.

Bathroom & Laundry

A full bathroom with a bathtub and bathroom essentials serves the whole chalet. A washer and dryer are available, making it easy to care for winter gear or longer‑term stays.

Kitchen & Dining

The fully stocked kitchen provides everything needed to prepare meals, from morning coffee to hearty dinners. A dedicated dining table sits nearby, set for shared meals while you watch the forest outside. A smart TV and Wi‑Fi (which may be slower or spotty due to the remote location) support streaming and video calls when you need to stay connected.

Outdoor Living

Step onto the deck to grill, soak in the hot tub, or simply breathe in the crisp mountain air. The private backyard opens to a spacious yard where a natural stream flows just behind the house. Even in cooler months, the fire pit offers a welcoming spot to roast s’mores and gaze at the clear night sky.

Family & Pet Friendly

Children’s books, toys, board games, and children’s dinnerware are provided for younger guests. The chalet welcomes pets, and a private entrance with free on‑site parking makes arrivals simple. Self‑check‑in via lockbox adds flexibility for families on the go.

Neighborhood

Tall Peak Chalet sits on a one‑acre wooded lot in Gerrardstown, West Virginia, a short drive from Berkeley Springs, Harpers Ferry, and Winchester. Local shops, restaurants, breweries, hiking trails, and seasonal outdoor activities are within easy reach, giving you the option to explore or stay nestled in nature.

Practical Details

Cleaning staff sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, though leaves or pollen may appear seasonally. Wi‑Fi is included, and we recommend downloading any important content in advance to enjoy uninterrupted relaxation.

The house has real potential, but also has real problems. It needs some maintenance in a major way. The toilet won’t flush. The faucet in the bathtub fell off. The grill had not been cleaned in so long that it broke out into a fire. When communicated these problems with the host, the response was I’m sorry for the inconvenience. We will have our handyman fix it after you leave. Frankly, I wanted it fixed while we were there. They also did not provide the necessary materials for cleaning dishes. There was no way to plug the sink and no dishtub and no scrubby and no dish towels. we purchased these items ourselves just so we could use the kitchen.this is all a real shame because the beds were very comfortable. The house had a nice fire pit and decks. The furniture was adequate. It just needed some major maintenance.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and this cabin in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
