The Space:

The scent of pine drifts through the open‑plan living area as the wood‑burning fireplace crackles, casting a warm glow over the high ceilings. Outside, steam rises from the hot tub while the fire pit flickers, inviting you to linger under a clear night sky. The wraparound deck stretches around the chalet, offering quiet views of the surrounding woods and the gentle sound of a stream just beyond the yard. Inside, the loft‑style space feels both spacious and intimate, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the mountains.

Sleeping arrangements

The loft houses a king‑size bed tucked beneath the peaked ceiling, providing a private retreat. On the main level, two bedrooms each feature queen‑over‑queen bunk beds, comfortably accommodating families or groups. All linens, extra pillows, and blankets are supplied for cooler evenings.

Bathroom & Laundry

A full bathroom includes a bathtub and bathroom essentials for your convenience. A washer and dryer are available, making it easy to care for winter gear or longer‑term stays.

Kitchen & Dining

The fully stocked kitchen holds everything needed to prepare meals, from coffee to cookware. A dedicated dining table sits nearby, ideal for sharing breakfast while watching the forest awaken or enjoying dinner after a day on the trails. A smart TV and Wi‑Fi are ready for movie nights, though service can be slower or spotty due to the remote location.

Outdoor Living

Step onto the wraparound deck to grill, soak in the hot tub, or simply breathe in the crisp mountain air. The private backyard opens to a spacious yard where a natural stream flows just behind the house. The fire pit remains a welcoming gathering spot year‑round, perfect for roasting s’mores and stargazing.

Family & Pet Friendly

Children’s books, toys, board games, and children’s dinnerware are provided, making the chalet welcoming for families. Pets are welcome, and a private entrance with free on‑site parking simplifies arrivals. Self‑check‑in via lockbox offers flexibility for any schedule.

The Area

Located in Gerrardstown, West Virginia, the chalet is a short drive from Berkeley Springs, Harpers Ferry, and Winchester. Local shops, restaurants, breweries, and hiking trails are easily reachable, offering a blend of outdoor adventure and small‑town charm.

Connectivity & Practical Info

Wi‑Fi is included, though it may be slower or spotty at times; downloading needed content in advance is recommended. The cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each stay, but natural leaves or pollen may still be present, especially during certain seasons. Enjoy the stillness of the woods and the comfort of a thoughtfully equipped retreat.

The house has real potential, but also has real problems. It needs some maintenance in a major way. The toilet won’t flush. The faucet in the bathtub fell off. The grill had not been cleaned in so long that it broke out into a fire. When communicated these problems with the host, the response was I’m sorry for the inconvenience. We will have our handyman fix it after you leave. Frankly, I wanted it fixed while we were there. They also did not provide the necessary materials for cleaning dishes. There was no way to plug the sink and no dishtub and no scrubby and no dish towels. we purchased these items ourselves just so we could use the kitchen.this is all a real shame because the beds were very comfortable. The house had a nice fire pit and decks. The furniture was adequate. It just needed some major maintenance.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and this cabin in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
