Charming Private Stay in the Mountains

Cabin was wonderful, just the right size for two people, but could comfortably fit a few more. Shower was spacious, pressure strong, water nice and hot! The scenery was gorgeous, a perfect little wooded getaway. We were in the area for a friend's wedding festivities and didn't get enough time to enjoy the cabin and property to it's full extent, so we'll have to come back another time to check out the hot tub, fire pit, and trails that looked like a lot of fun!The cabin was well stocked with supplies and everything we could need. Lovely propertly, clean, well maintained, and lots to do.We loved our stay, and you will too! Thank you David & Laurie!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND AND ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!

Such a cute and beautiful cabin. Me and my partner loved staying here. Very secluded with hot tub, fire pit, beautiful indoor space, swings and private hikes within the property! Very secluded and you'd barely step out of the cabin grounds as it is very MAGICAL!

A gem in the woods

All the right things made this tiny house stay one to remember. The deck and extra seating areas were perfect, and it served as a great home-base to come back to from our days adventures.

Cute and cozy

This cabin had everything you could need! The pictures are a little deceiving for size but ended up being perfect for our family. Plenty of places to sleep and the kids loved the little loft.

Cozy tiny cabin

Perfect for two people. Hot tub was clean and easy to use. Location minutes to the lake where our friends were staying. Loft was too small for us to use, more for children to play in.

We we’re Celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary. We choose this cottage because it was so Secluded

We totally enjoyed our stay . Even though it rained it was so nice just to set on the deck and watch the birds. Rabbits , butterflies and listening to the frogs. The skies were clear enough to see Millions of stars beautiful. Very comfortable,, clean, well supplied overall we felt at home. We didn’t miss our phones we do want to get back in the fall. Thanks so much for the time we spent in the charming cottage.

Beautiful Scenery

The place is very cozy and really relaxing to come home to after a long day, however it does take about an hour to get up and down the mountain each way, and there are no street lights for nightime driving (its on a mountain so this may be apparent). My friends and I had a very nice time all though we didnt spend too much time in the house itself because of all the fun activities you can do around it! 10/10 would recommend this cabin for nature lovers

Quiet and quaint

We spent 2 nights in the cabin and it was very quiet and relaxing. We made a bonfire one evening and didn't have much success because the wood was pretty damp. The next evening we had dinner in downtown Andrews and watched a movie in the cabin. The first evening we arrived a fuse blew when we plugged in the space heater so be sure not to turn too many lights on at once. Other than that it was a pleasant stay. Water was warm, bed was comfortable and cabin was clean.

We Loved It!

Our family loves going to Nantahala Lake for family reunions. We always seem to find something new that we really enjoy every year. The cliff rock was so fun this year. I don't know of any other place you can do something like that! Our kids went knee boarding for the first time this year, and got their first experience on a Skee-Do. It is so nice to have a quaint place to come home to rest, just down the street from the lake. Great scenery. Affordable. Full kitchen to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner. This Cozy Mountain Getaway allowed us to stay up in the mountains near cherished family. We don't have a four-wheel drive van, and you don't need one to access this place, which is a bonus.

Secluded Views

This little cabin was just cozy enough to provide everything we needed! Big windows bring in the views. Great outdoor space on the deck and property to explore and enjoy. There is an additional building that houses a washer/dryer on site. The drive up was a pretty but curvy mountain road. The driveway is steep but manageable. It's quiet and relaxed but there is zero reception for any kind of communication. You have to drive a few miles if you need that. We stopped at the grocery store about 20 minutes away and stocked up and didn't need a thing! It snowed the entire time, even though it was April but it was beautiful and fun getaway in a nice, comfortable space. We stayed warm and the hot tub was a treat!

Relaxing Stay

The house was small and cozy. It had everything my wife and I needed. It was secluded, it had a small grill, kitchen appliances, and some DVDs to watch. Things to know before booking this home: 1) make sure you check your emails and anything you need internet based before you pass Andrews. My wife and I got to the house and could not pull up the keypad code and we have to drive 20 minutes back to get internet connection. 2) There is a large bee hive close to the entrance of the home. Be careful with the bumblebees. 3) Bring some DVDs if you plan on staying inside the house. Although we enjoyed some of the DVDs there was not a huge collection. Great home for the price!!!

Could have been a great stay.

I will first say all the good things about the cabin RV: the interior was clean and there were plenty of towels, bath products, kitchen amenities and seating for 2 to 4 people. There was plenty of hot water for me and my aunt and the oven worked well. The fire pit was great to sit out at every night, but you will probably need to bring your own wood to start a fire. The grill worked well, but the ignitor isn't working so you'll need matches. Outside of the issue discussed later the location was great! The loft area was generally too hot, as was the house during the day even with the air conditioners on, but for the most part you're going to be adventuring outdoors! Definitely go to the swimming hole listed in the book. Now on to the bad: the owners messaged me at 10:00PM the night before our arrival that they rented the field below the cabin to 100 campers for the eclipse. I was shocked and a little heartbroken, but hoped for the best, as my aunt and I booked the property 8 months in advance specifically for the seclusion. The campers were noisy and it singularly ruined our trip and our peace during the eclipse event. Although the instructions say there is a lock on the gate, there is not...which we found open after the campers arrived and asked for assistance with security, to which a lock was promised, but never delivered. The owners' sons woke us up at 7:30AM our last day to ask to get something off the property, which frightened us at first, having experienced the security issue the day before. The grass wasn't cut around the property like in the pictures, so my aunt and I suffered several dozen chigger bites across our bodies. We couldn't get the stereo to work, but that didn't really bother us. Remember to check the windows, as we found several unlocked before we left the first day. Oh, and the instructions provided will give you an address that doesn't work on GPS. Use the house number given minus six to get there. Overall, this could have been a really great experience. Instead of the owners letting us know in advance they planned to rent out the field to a 100 people, so we might be able to cancel and make more suitable arrangements, they were deceptive and waited until the night before. Requests to ensure our safety weren't dealt with. There won't be an eclipse event with noisy campers below when you potentially stay here, but you should know how the people you are renting from act and respond.

Was going to put 3 stars but I felt that was unnecessary considering we enjoyed ourself greatly.... Some things to consider... The picture with hot tub looking into what appears to be sunrise is false.... Maybe just time of year. Trails with Lakeview is not the truth in the slightest.. One takes you to top of mountain and one takes you to rusted out swings about 100 feet from cabin. Says in listing trails with lake view... Big false. Cabin was nice comfortable I would consider going other than cooler months as we slept on sleeper sofa because bedroom got too cold. Otherwise cabin hot tub were nice and our adventure was blessed otherwise. Just don't expect to go right out of cabin onto a trail that takes you to the lake. That's not reality.

Nice place but No Cell Service

Make sure you screen shot the Wi-Fi password & lock box code before coming to the location. We did have a field mouse get into the house that was eating our pretzels the first night but we did not see him again once we locked up all the open food bags but we left one night early because of the mouse. The field mouse is to be expected because of where you are. The house was VERY clean and very comfortable. I had no contact info for the home owners & felt this issue was not a huge deal to contact them about. I provided 5 stars for communication but did not talk to them. There is cell service if you drive 22 minutes to the closest town. Mine is At&t and one had T-Mobile and we had nothing at the house. Make sure you activate Wi-Fi calling on your phone before going. Driving through the mountains the cell service would drop out for miles so don’t clear your maps application if you have no cell service. There is a paper map option at the rest stop by the BP off of Hwy19 Make sure you download offline maps of the area before coming incase you get lost.

Great Place for a Getaway!

We loved our two nights at Running Squirrel Ridge! The home was comfortable and clean, and described very accurately in the listing. The kitchen is well equipped and we cooked both dinners while there. The hot tub under the stars was a great experience, even on a cloudy night. The host was responsive prior to our visit with questions about the area and some other details. Highly recommend the cabin!

Very thoughtful hosts!

I would absolutely recommend this stay to adults! If you have a toddler I would suggest bring a baby gate for the loft area (my little one was obsessed with the cute little stairs but did fall down them, ONCE) he’s ok! ت WiFi is a little touchy but it worked out for us as we stayed busy on the property exploring and at the near by lake! I’d definitely stay again with my husband and friends!

Relaxing in Peace

This cabin is wonderful! It was clean and welcoming. The views that you get from the many windows inside and on the deck are beautiful. You feel secluded from the world with all of the trees around. I did the short hike up to the top of the mountain and the view was well worth it! You can sit on the bench at the top and see the lake and mountain view. There were even a few benches along the trail that I used to take a break. And to end the day, I relaxed in the hot tub! My stay was relaxing and peaceful. I am looking forward to returning.

Little piece of heaven

This was a wonderful getaway from the world. It is an adorable cabin with a comfy master bed and cute kids' nook, super comfy couches, and a fun movie selection. We loved stargazing from the hot tub, hiking the trails, and enjoying the swings up on the mountain. The quiet mountains and great views let us feel secluded even though town was only 20 minutes away. There was a great hammock spot we enjoyed, and even though I chose to keep my phone turned off, it was an added perk that there was Wifi if I wanted to get connected with the outside world. Thanks so much for sharing your little piece of heaven! We will definitely be visiting again.

Our family of 6 loves unplugging, getting away from our busy lives and connecting with nature! We enjoy renting a pontoon boat, tubing on Nantahala Lake and jumping off a rope swing on Rabbit Island. Our favorite thing is sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows and eating Dads Dutch oven peach cobbler. As a parent it's a great place to really connect as a family.

Why they chose this property

We are conveniently located close to the "Sky Chapel", Glen Choga Lodge, Nantahala Gorge (Nantahala Outdoor Center - NOC), Lake Nantahala, and the "Tail of the Dragon".
This property has been in my family for nearly 200 years. We have Native American roots and named the cabin after my mother who we affectionately call Running Squirrel. Our land boasts wild turkey, deer, rabbits, and of course squirrels! If you are looking for privacy and to disconnect from the distractions of the world, this is the place.

What makes this property unique

You feel secluded surrounded by 20 acres of trees tucked between two mountain ridges as well as the breathtaking mountain top view of the lake. Relaxing in the hot tub while enjoying the mountain views is spectacular. Stargazing with little light pollution is remarkable.
