About Michelle Shelby Spinneweber
My husband George and I purchased this lovely farm in 2014 to compliment our other vacation rental in the area and to have a place to bring our horses when we come up to visit. I go by Shelby. I love to travel and adventure . I also like to write, read, eat really good food in really nice or really unusual restaurants, and listen to all kinds of music (country, jazz, blues, classical, old rock) I appreciate a finely crafted cocktail and prefer 'top shelf'. My husband likes to hunt and spend time in the 'man cave'. My husband and I have 9 horses (mostly quarter horses) and we like to trail ride at the beach and numerous state parks. We are fans of camping. I work full time as a realtor in NE Florida and I specialize in St. Augustine which is the oldest city in the US! My husband is an Agricultural Officer. In early life I grew up on 40 acres in Pennsylvania. I moved to S. Florida in the 80's and now live near St. Augustine, FL. My husband traveled all over the country before calling St. Augustine home. We love having two homes in the Smokey Mountains in NC and are thrilled that we can share the joy of these special places with our guests!

Why Michelle Shelby Spinneweber chose Almond
My husband and I used to walk by this farm regulary when we would stay at our other vacation home and say wouldnt that be nice to have someday. And then one day there was a for sale sign in the yard and the rest is history. We love the acreage, So much room, so much privacy, so much beauty! We enjoy the sound of the creek as it slowly meanders through the property and we love to see the wildlife as it appears. We were also very sold on the easy access and the convenience of the location to all the area's ammenities and activities!
What makes this Cabin unique
Super close to NOC, Lake Fontana, Smokey Mountain Railroad. Super easy access on a paved road and gravel road with plenty of room to park vehicles and or a boat. Really quiet and peaceful setting but so close to so many wonderful things to do!

Vacation was too short!
The property is absolutely beautiful and we enjoy staying there. The property manager has been amazing to work with the last two years we have stayed in one of her properties. Our only issue with this house was some sort of bug that was everywhere inside the house that the people last year had warned us about. We brought our bug spray with us and sprayed while we enjoyed the afternoon on the lake and we had no more problems the rest of the week. And a special thanks for allowing our fur baby to vacation with us. She loves playing on the rolling hill beside the house!
Perfect Base Camp for Tsali
This cabin was perfect for two couples and their dogs for a weekend while we were riding Tsali and paddling at NOC. It's in a scenic community that is easy to reach, but peaceful and remote. It had everything we needed for a great stay.
Quiet and relaxing
Took our grandsons for a few days of tubing and rafting. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and so glad to have easy access, as opposed to a driveway straight up a mountainside! Shelby was totally attentive to anything we needed.
My friends and I throughly enjoyed this air conditioned alternative to summer camping in the Smokies! Very clean and well-furnished. Wonderful place to read and relax.
Property was beautiful & house! We enjoyed our visit!
Cozy and peaceful cottage!
We've visited the Smokies several times and have stayed at many places. This cottage is one of our favorites! The babbling brook was so peaceful. The porch swing is large enough to take a nap (which I did!) The hot tub was wonderful after a day of sight-seeing and mountain biking. The cottage was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed.
The other 2 cottages on the site were a little closer than I expected, but we never had any issues with other guests. I also expected the road in front to be a little less busy. There seems to be some developing going on down the lane, so there were trucks passing by throughout the day. This didn't cause us a problem, but guests should be aware that they won't have complete seclusion here. Children and pets need to stay away from the road because the locals and worksite trucks tend to travel down it very quickly.
Overall, it was a wonderful place for a family get-away. We would stay here again given the opportunity.
The cottage is just 15 minutes to both Nantahayla Outdoor Center, white water rafting, horseback riding, Bryson City, Great Smokey Mountain Railroad, Tsali, and Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Cherokee with it's casino and many activities is only 30 minutes away. Deals Gap and Tail of the Dragon is only 25 minutes away.
