The 50m of the beaches of Leopoldina and the wine and sand beach, 1.5 miles of cafes, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, post office, shopping, banking, health services, health club and many other services, 25km from the airport of Ponta Delgada .

The municipality of Vila Franca do Campo is located on the South coast of the island of San Miguel.
The Azores archipelago is composed of nine islands and is located in the Atlantic Ocean. It is formed by the islands of San Miguel and Santa Maria in the Eastern Group, Terceira, Graciosa, Sao Jorge, Pico and Faial in the Central Group and Flores and Corvo in the Western group.
Wanaka is rich in monuments, gardens and beaches as the D'Amora, Lower d 'Sand, beach Leopoldina, D'Vine Sand, Corpo Santo, of High Water and Prainha.
There is also an islet in Wanaka which is regarded as nature reserve For the local crafts, this is composed mainly by olarias. The village displays pieces of china clay in red. There are also, rents, the embroidery, rattan and work on the dolls in cloth or scales of fish.
As for the typical desserts, the famous cheese from Vila today are manufactured in secret by two families.

As soon as we walked out the doors into the deck we were blown away by the view of the Volcano directly off shore. There is an almost 180 degree view of the ocean and the setting is superb.

Stunning Ocean views

Our host Roberto was very attentive at check in and also helped us get car rental from a local company. The villa is well equipped and had ample space for our 7 guests. The property is in a quiet neighborhood and close to grocery stores and several restaurants. This is a great base location for seeing the entire Island.

Beatiful location with a nice view at the sea. It was great. We didn’t had any contact with the owner but not a big problem for us. The dishwasher doesn’t work good, it stays dirty. All other things where good.

Beautiful home and wonderful host!

Family of 7 enjoyed our stay here for 5 nights- the home is beautiful, clean, and spacious in a safe neighborhood with parking. Lovely location and view! The town of Vila Franca was perfect for a home base to explore the entire island- quaint town, and marina just a short 10 minute walk away. Can book whale watching from this marina too. Huge grocery store just a 3 minute drive- we picked up delicious breakfast and sandwiches for picnic from the cafe inside. Really great restaurants near by- Caloura Bar, Casa do Abel, and Atlantico- all recommended by our most gracious host. Loved having the pool, but too cold for us to swim in late May. Will have to go back! Would strongly recommend this home! Obrigada Robert!

Absolutely Wonderful

The location of the property is amazing. The view of the ocean never gets old. We were able to walk to town and the beach quite easily. Beware that it is hilly and some of the streets lack sidewalks. The inside of the house is more than adequate. It is a bit dated, but we didn't go to the Azores to sit on a designer couch. There are three bathrooms and 5 bedrooms. No one had any complaints about the beds.The kitchen has plenty of equipment although we used very little. The pool was great. Very clean.

Fantastic Family Vacation

We have travelled to many places and stayed at many resorts but this was by far the BEST place ever, especially for 7 family members. Roberto went out of his way to make us welcome, meeting us at the airport, showing us some sites on the way to the villa, and gave us tips on where to eat and what to see. The villa is exactly as shown, the pool was awesome, and the ocean views were spectacular. The property was within walking distance of the village of Vila Franca do Campo and 2 local beaches. There was plenty of room for 7 adults and more to spare. The house was well stocked, we only needed food and clothing. Roberto was readily available when we needed him. We would highly recommend this villa and hope to return again in the future.

Dinaree - destination wedding event

The house was perfect for our large group. The kitchen was very well equipped for cooking. We loved the pool area and it was nice having all the lounge chairs to layout. I would like to mention that there is no dryer in the home and you have to hang your clothes out to dry. It was a bit of an inconvenience given the length of our stay but we made it work. Also, there is only a wall AC unit in the downstairs living room. It cooled the majority of the 1st floor but the upstairs bedrooms were very warm at night. I would recommend they put instructions in English on how to run the dishwasher, washer, microwave and oven as that was a struggle and probably very inefficient when it come to one’s time and the electric bill. On the last full day of our stay there were 3 strangers that showed up and didn’t come to the door to introduce themselves. It was very concerning because they had a key fab to open the gate but didn’t let us know why they were there. We would definitely consider going back as overall the property was amazing but knowing some of the above details would have been nice to know again given our length of stay and that we were there for a destination wedding. Karla the housekeeper was so accommodating and always available and certainly went above and beyond to get us what we needed. Communication with the host was a struggle as he always responded in Portuguese and we only spoke English.

Unfortunately I have to say there was a little "Bait and Switch" going on. On arrival I met with maybe the wife of Roberto, and was informed that we had been placed in a different house than the one we rented, apparently they thought it was better suited to our party. The house we were put in was not anywhere near the image of the one we rented, to add to that there was broken glass all around, mold, broken screen doors, sliders that where almost impossible to open, windows all etched and not clean. The pool wasn't very clean. Although Roberto had said we could enter early and leave late (which I found very accommodating of him (whom we didn't meet at all) our overall expreiance was not the best.

Wonderful house and convenient location, just a couple of minor issues

Outstanding spacious house, lovely pool and yard with picnic tables, grill, view of ocean and nearby island. Walkable to beach, town, and harbor, though roads are narrow and some areas have no sidewalks. Glitches--2 days there was very little, then no hot water (and we didn't all shower at once!) and no response from owner. Grass mowing and weed whacking didn't need to be done one afternoon, annoying noise and disruption, and the pool was full of grass clippings--owner did respond when I complained. Little things like no paper towels or shower soap and very little toilet paper and hand soap. We bought all these items but expected they would be provided. Three bedrooms streetside--unexpected traffic noise and barking dogs during the night and early morning, just be aware. Washer but no dryer, small clothesline. Overall, a GREAT place, and i don't like to complain--but sometimes the devil's in the details. We would consider returning, so the issues weren't that bad! Awesome trip for 9 of us!!!

trÚs belle situation géographique mais contrat non respecté

Notre surprise a Ă©tĂ© grande puisque nous nous sommes retrouvĂ©s dans une autre maison que celle que nous avions louĂ©e, maison deux fois plus petite et moins bien agencĂ©e pour recevoir 5 couples (rĂ©fĂ©rencĂ©e sur ABRITEL ID 6222008a au lieu de notre contrat ID 409020. Nous avons Ă©tĂ© contraints d’accepter cette situation car nous n’avions pas Ă©tĂ© prĂ©venu et nous risquions de nous trouver sans logement dĂšs le 23 mai au soir. Notre mĂ©contentement porte sur le fait que le contrat que nous avons signĂ© avec ABRITEL n’a pas Ă©tĂ© respectĂ© de la part du propriĂ©taire, celui-ci nous louant une autre maison avec un standing et des caractĂ©ristiques diffĂ©rents. Les Ă©changes avec le propriĂ©taire ont Ă©tĂ© difficiles car il n'Ă©tait pas sur place au dĂ©but de notre sĂ©jour. Les deux maisons sont trĂšs bien placĂ©es mais l'une fait 400 mÂČ et l'autre 200. La prĂ©sentation photos des deux propriĂ©tĂ©s est savamment prĂ©sentĂ©e sur le site avec un mĂ©lange des deux maisons. Les chambres de la maison que nous avons eu sont plus petites, moins bien exposĂ©es, fenĂȘtres de mi-hauteur donnant sur un mur (Ă  la place de vues sur mer dans l’autre maison) et sans aucun rangement. Les Ă©quipements de la maison que nous avions sont disparates au niveau du matĂ©riel de cuisine. C’est propre, mais la vĂ©tustĂ© des peintures et des meubles commence Ă  se faire ressentir. Nous Ă©tions 10 personnes avec une table de sĂ©jour de 6 places! Le mobilier de jardin est vĂ©tuste. Attention Ă  bien verrouiller votre contrat avec le propriĂ©taire!

Renter Beware!

We booked this large home for 10 nights, over 6 months before our family trip. There were 9 of us and we wanted space to relax and a base to enjoy Sao Miguel. This home provided a good amount of space, the yard with pool was beautiful and the location was great. Those are the good points. However, I gave it two stars for several reasons. The biggest reason is that the landlord/renter cancelled our last night only 3 days before our arrival. We were left with no place to stay for our last night since all of our flights were booked the following day. That left us with having to find lodging on very short notice. Needless to say, we were not happy at all. The owner reimbursed us for one night. But one night’s reimbursement was not nearly enough to cover the costs for lodging for all of us. The owner found an apartment that “slept 5” but that was it. He said he couldn’t help us otherwise. Apparently, after doing some research, we discovered that VRBO allows hosts to basically, do whatever they want and that the relationship is between the owner and renter and that VRBO does nothing to help secure services, alternatives or even take action against owners that cancel people’s reservations. . So, please beware. The house was lovely, in general
but it did not have a washer and dryer, as was stated on the VRBO website. It only had a washer. And, with the amount of rain that Sao Miguel gets (and we got) , it is difficult to dry clothes on a clothesline. It also advertised 3 bathrooms, including 3 showers. Unfortunately the 3rd bathroom only had a toilet and sink, not a shower, as listed on the website. We were aware that there was no air conditioning in the house and that , in general, many rentals do not have AC. However, there were no fans in the home, neither overhead or freestanding. And, since we were there in Sept with temps in mid to upper 70’s and high humidity, it got very warm. We needed to open all sliding doors and there were no screens. In general, there were not a lot of bugs, but at night, several of us got numerous bug bites during our stay. Lastly, the website says it is walking distance to the beach and to main town which it is not. A recommendation is to put in overhead fans and at least some screens to help with airflow. We loved our experience on the island, just were disappointed with our renting experience.

Amazing views

Spent a week at this property with family and friends - 7 in total. Plenty of space all the amenities needed, great location to town and beach. Pool and views were absolutely spectacular. Roberto was gracious and very helpful. Loved our stay here and look forward to returning again.

Perfect family getaway

We loved our time here and Roberto was super helpful (even when our flight home got canceled and we were scrambling for a place to stay an extra night). The house is beautiful, I loved falling asleep listening to the waves. The pool was great to have for the kids and plenty of space for my husband, our kids, my parents and our nanny. The house was very peaceful, near a couple pretty and Sandy beaches as well as the marina for water activities and easy to drive to other parts of the island. Given our group size we ate most dinners at home and the kitchen was fully stocked. We were there in mid July and the ocean breeze was perfect (didn’t miss having air conditioning). Thanks again!

Wonderful trip

We loved how accommodating and friendly Roberto and his son, Bruno, were on our trip. The location of the property and the spectacular views were amazing. The grounds were lovely and the pool made the place a recommended place to stay. The house was very spacious and modern. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Roberto’s lovely house.

Very beautiful and pleasant villa had a wonderful stay

We had a really wonderful stay for 7 days at the villa really lovely and beautiful had everything you needed in the kitchen. Very clean and well organised. Roberto was very accommodating I had to change my dates by a few days he did this no problem we also asked if we could leave later on the day we was flying home and he said no problem very nice man indeed. My boys loved the villa age range from just turn 3 to 10 plenty of space you won’t be disappointed. The property had a washing machine very handy along with smart tv so could watch Netflix and Disney open WiFi had a wonderful time and the island was amazing so beautiful
