About this property
Charming 3BR Rowhouse in Shaw/Bloomingdale
Light-filled, historic Victorian rowhouse. Comfortable and stylish with solar electricity. Original hardwood floors and woodwork, renovated kitchen and bathrooms, laundry, private backyard w/grill and firepit or stock tank pool. Centrally located between Bloomingdale, Shaw & downtown, less than a mile to two Metro stations—NoMa-Galludet U/NY Avenue (Red line) & Shaw/Howard U (Green & Yellow lines)—and a mile to Amtrak at Union Station. Easy access to Convention Center, US Capitol and the Mall.
The space
1907 Victorian rowhouse with 94 Walk Score. Comfortable and stylish furnishings. Wrought iron porch, tree lined street, and walkable to many top DC restaurants and bars make this an ideal location.
U street, H Street, Shaw and Bloomingdale neighborhoods adjacent. The Capitol, Union Station, the Mall, monuments, museums, convention center and White House all easily accessible. Perfect for an educational, culinary, or cultural tour of the city! Easy access to 395 off New York Avenue for day trips to Virginia historical sites and wineries--street parking passes included for your stay (just need vehicle information prior to arrival).
Original refinished hardwood floors throughout. Most woodwork also original in this updated beauty. New solar array will make for a low carbon footprint.
Modern kitchen with new stainless steel appliances, microwave, air fryer/toaster oven, Instapot, crockpot, juicer and blender available for guest use. Tea and coffee (Keurig) provided. Propane grill and string lighting in the back courtyard, with ample seating and privacy fence. Firepit with wood or stock tank pool available during summer months (upon request!).
Full dining area with table seating six, plus four additional bar seats. Two original decorative mantles. Pocket door between dining and living areas.
Half bath on the first floor. Stackable washer and dryer (detergent and laundry sheets available). High speed Wi-Fi throughout. 65" flat screen HD TV with Netflix/Disney+/Hulu/HBO Max/Peacock. Record player with speakers. Karaoke machine.
Wrap around staircase and skylight upstairs. Three bedrooms, two full baths (main bedroom en suite and second bathroom with shower/soaking tub). Shower supplies included. Primary bedroom has exposed brick accent wall and memory foam bed, as well as a large flat screen TV. Large garment racks for hanging clothes in 2nd and 3rd bedroom.
Queen size inflatable air bed available for larger parties.
Hall closet and basement secured for personal items—drawers and hangers available for use during your stay.
Guest access
With the exception of the (unfinished) basement and two closets upstairs, the place is all yours. Check-in is via a combination lockbox on the front porch.
Other things to note
During the summer the stock tank pool takes up a large part of the back yard. Please let me know if you'd like it drained and stored or available for use during your stay.

About the host
Hosted by Nathan Hamme

President of a charity in Washington DC that celebrates workers in nursing homes, hospitals and senior living communities. I love travelling to new places. Interested in meeting people, having adventures, visiting historic and cultural sights, eating local cuisine and enjoying the nightlife.
As a host I do my best to provide guests with a wonderful stay. I'm proud of the work I've done on my home--a Victorian DC rowhouse in the Truxton Circle neighborhood--and always try to make people comfortable while they're visiting the nation's capital!

Why they chose this property
Very accessible to DC sightseeing areas (the mall, Capitol and museums) and easy access to Virginia and Maryland. It's a vibrant neighborhood with a lot of nice restaurants and amenities nearby. Some great music venues within walking distance and others an easy ride away. Bike-able and walkable.
What makes this property unique
This is not a corporate rental or management company--it's my home and I take great care of it! Original fixtures and charms with modern updates (particularly in kitchens and bathrooms). Solar powered. A little outdoor reprieve. Guests often remark how "comfortable" it is. All the kitchen and other amenities of a home. If you need anything during your stay, just ask--I can often have it delivered within a day or two.
