About this property

Studio for 3/private entrance, bath, WiFi, Netflix/2.5 mi to town/pets

This tranquil garden suite is below our home with private entrance, kitchenette, laundry and bath. The kitchenette has a mini fridge, electric grill, microwave & kettle. We always have coffee, tea, chocolate, and a bottle of wine for our guests. In the main room there are two beds (queen & twin), a dedicated workspace. TV with Netflix and streaming provided.

Outside the yard is surrounded by woods and gardens. We have a fire pit with firewood. Feel free to invite a small group of friends to enjoy the outdoors.

The room is large and set up as a studio. The couch is converted into a queen size bed with a 3" memory foam mattress added. Super comfortable. To the side of the bed is a Serta couch that converts to a twin bed, also with 3 inch foam. The attached bathroom is private with an on demand hot water system, so you will never run out of hot water. The kitchenette is in the laundry room. Laundry room is shared for extended stays.

The 42" Roku TV has streaming channels with Netflix provided. There is a DVD player with a variety of movies available. A small patio is outside the sliding glass door. The yard is available for you with a fire pit and firewood. All doors in the main room are equipped with a lock. The ceiling is the floorboards of the main floor with some exposed wiring. I try to be quiet, but you may hear some footsteps above.

We are less than a 10-minute drive to Ohio University & downtown Athens. Our home sits at the end of a dead-end street in a peaceful wooded setting. We try to accommodate early check-in and late check-out.

Owner is great to work with. Super friendly and easily accessible. The room is simple and affordable. Internet is fast enough to work from the location and I use voice over IP. I use the location to drive in late and drop my kid off at OU. I spend the night and work a 1/2 day in the morning so I don’t have to miss a full days work transporting my kid. A great find I was reluctant to share because I want it only for myself.

Overall lovely stay.

Adorable place with room including everything you would need. Just be mindful that the room is the walkout basement of someone’s home, so you are sharing walls with owner. You will hear activity on occasion. But nonetheless, cozy atmosphere, lots of amenities. Great location to get to places. Fluffy towels. Nice place overall.

This was a perfect overnight stop. …much better than a hotel room. As we travel with a fairly full cooler , we were disappointed to realize there’s only a mini fridge and we had to sacrifice some food. Otherwise they made great use of small space . If handicapped, there is a short walk down to entry.

This is a great property. Exactly as described, in a private cul-de-sac. Our son will be attending OU, and this will be our go-to spot! After a full day of lectures and getting in our steps, we were able to relax on the rockers & enjoy the sunset. Communication & check-in a breeze. Book it!

I've lived in Athens since 1970 while in college and never left. I am now retired from being a secretary, building manager, social worker, and nurse. I mostly loved teaching. I'm graced with two of my children living in Athens and another living in Florida.

Why they chose this property

My neighborhood is idyllic. There are about a dozen homes on my street and the road dead ends by my house. It's quiet and pretty with lots of trees, kids, and pets. My home is a work of art. It was remodeled by a wood worker. I created the studio with his help. I love fixing it up. It's a grown ups version of a doll house.

What makes this property unique

It's quiet here. No cars drive by except for one neighbor. You can hear the highway off to the distance, but that's the price you pay for being less than 10 minutes from town and campus. I often don't meet my guests, but when I do, it is always a treat.
