Comfortable and peaceful. I did not like that dishes I used were dirty and some trash was let behind.

Hi Evaline,
Thank you for your feedback — we’re so sorry to hear about the dishes and trash. We’re currently out of the country, and under normal circumstances we would never let something like this happen. Without being able to personally double-check the home before your stay, we unfortunately missed this and truly regret the oversight. We deeply appreciate you bringing it to our attention and will make sure it’s addressed immediately.
Safe travels,
Kassidi and Clayton
The hosts were great and accommodating. The location for our activities made this property great. It was a bit challenging to find the road to the property and we had no cell coverage. The only other issue was the water at the property was on a well and had a very high iron content. My wife and I cooked the entire trip and the kitchen supplies were basic but worked.
Our stay was, overall, pleasent. It was a good location for the things we wanted to do. Check in and directions were easy enough. Our kids enjoyed being able to explore the hills around the house. Please be sure to read the description, THOROUGHLY. This is a basement rental, not the whole house. While the host was very respectful and you wouldn't really know they were there, you can hear the dog walking around above you. And, there is no temperature control on your floor. The host was very responsive, but it got very warm in the early morning and we were unable to get the temperature turned down. Would be nice to have control of the temperature yourself. The rental was very clean, however the hot tub was not. I do not admit to being a hot tub expert, but the water was filmy and there was lots of sitting residue on the seats and bottom.

Thank you for staying with us and for sharing your feedback! We’re glad you found the location convenient and the space clean and comfortable for your family’s visit. We appreciate you pointing out that this is a lower-level unit—it’s clearly listed in the description, but we’ll make sure that detail is even more noticeable for future guests.
Regarding the temperature control, thank you for mentioning that as well. We’re looking into adding a more direct way for guests to adjust it themselves to make stays more comfortable. As for the hot tub, we’re very sorry it wasn’t up to standard during your visit. It is cleaned and maintained regularly, but we’ll be addressing the issue immediately to ensure it’s spotless for every guest moving forward.
We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back in the future!

First thing I noticed Was that it was decorated and a groovy Brady Bunch 70s Vibe which was super cool. It was a cool week, weatherwise, and the thermostat was down, but a call to Kassidi resulted and quick service by Kevin, the maintenance guy. this property is newly built, and some small details were unfinished, but the location was incomparable. Central to all of the Black Hills area, parks and attractions with easy access to Highway 385. The lush sod was put in place on our last day and the fire pit lined. The fire pit was available and awesome on cool evenings. Lots of long evenings and nights up talking and no disturbances. Kassidi and her crew were cool and easy to deal with.
I can’t imagine a better stay anywhere.
Good central location for everything we wanted to do in South Dakota. The 4th “bedroom” is a nook off the main area with bunk beds, so that wasn’t ideal. We had expected the two story home in the picture, allowing ample space for the 7 of us, but it’s just the basement of the main home (none of us read that far into description, lol).
I am from Hill City, a nearby small town. I enjoy skiing, rock climbing, hiking, reading, drinking wine on the patio. My fiancé Clayton is a co-host. He is a Fireman/EMT for the Rapid City Fire Department. We enjoy hosting because we enjoy traveling together. One of our favorite things is finding unique and interesting vacation rentals to stay in when we travel, and we wanted to provide that for people as well.
Why they chose this property
We chose it because it is not a neighborhood. We love being in nature and not having to worry about neighbors or people around. Waking up to the trees and the birds every day is far superior. Having your morning coffee in peace outside is one of life's small treasures.
What makes this property unique
We have locally thrifted most of the pieces of furniture in the rental either from estate sales, thrift stores, auctions, or antique stores. Everything was meticulously picked to fit a certain vibe and aesthetic. We hand painted the mural in the living room and truthfully poured our heart and soul into building this home and making it feel as warm and welcome as it does.
