Casa del Sol is the lower unit of a brand-new build that you and your entire party will have access to. The unit itself has a private entrance that is easy to find. Enjoy the yard, outdoor patio, and hot tub which your party will have private access to. Surrounded by trees, you are sure to have a peaceful stay in our unique bungalow. You will be a 30 minute drive from everything the Black Hills have to offer: 30 minutes to Deadwood, 15 to Rapid City, 15 to Hill city, 25 to Mount Rushmore, 25 to Sturgis. The Centennial Trail runs close by, and it is less than 5 minutes from Pactola Lake. Kayaks, paddle boards, and UTV rentals are available at the campground just down the road (No Bad Days).
Our home is a big space with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, washer/ dryer, a kitchen, and fast WiFi. Each room has a smart TV and there is one in the living room as well. We offer the convenience of self check in-but we are always just a few minutes away if you need anything! The quiet surroundings makes for a calm, comfortable and convenient stay.
Casa del Sol is a spacious, mountain home offering panoramic views of iconic, majestic Black Hills mountains. The home is located on a scenic drive that goes to Pactola Lake. It is very quiet as we are nestled on 5 acres in the middle of forest service land.
You will love our fully equipped kitchen! Plenty of space to prepare a meal from simple to gourmet. There is a BBQ grill on the back deck as well.
Relax in from of the fireplace in the living room, which is perfect for chilly evenings together. Play the games located in the family room. Go for a hike just out your front door. And you must try the hot tub located on the lower patio which offers exquisite views.
Don't want to be inside? Perfect! There is a covered patio offering optimal outdoor living spaces. Hiking is incredibly accessible, and you can be at any of the main attractions in minutes. It is a wonderful place to take a walk in the morning or at dusk, when you are most likely to run into our most populous neighbors- the elk, deer, & squirrels. They're beautiful, majestic & look harmless, but it is not advisable to try to pet or feed them.
Charming historic Deadwood is a quick drive from the house where there are ghost tours, hiking, gambling, and lots of history. Dining options are a plenty there as well as bars. If you visit over New Years, Halloween, Mardi Gras, or St. Patrick's Day, there are huge festivities happening. If you visit over the winter, there is a ski hill called Terry Peak that has all the terrain from greens to double blacks.
Fifteen minutes East is Rapid City which will be the easiest to do all of your grocery shopping, or shopping otherwise. There are even more restaurants there and if you are interested in any nightlife, this is the place you will want to be. There are tons of breweries and some of the best restaurants are Tandoor Bocado, Delmonico Grill, Tally's Silver Spoon, and the Independent Ale House for something more casual.
Just up the road toward Rapid City is Johnson Siding gas station. They have a beer and liquor selection, basic gas station foods, and a small pub. A bit farther is Mexico Tipico. These are the two closest places to get food and gas. No Bad Days Campground just west down the road has a tap wagon featuring 24 local beers, local wines, firewood and ice for sale.
Less than five minutes away is Pactola Lake where the views are endless and the water is crystal clear. Enjoy hiking, swimming, paddle boarding, boating, kayaking, fishing, or just hanging out on the beach. If you are here during the winter there is ice skating and ice fishing.
Please note that traveling in the Black Hills in the months of November through April you may need 4 wheel or an all-wheel drive vehicle.
Cleanliness is our highest priority! In between each group we mop all floors, vacuum all carpets, scrub all surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom, wash all bedding and towels, and make sure everything is back in its place before our new guests arrive.
The owners will be available 24/7 during your stay! We want to make sure that all of your needs are met while you're in the home, so you will be able to call or text us any time of the day or night. The owners live on site with their friendly golden retriever, Margot.
Feel free to message us at any time if you have any questions and we'd be happy to assist you! We're so excited to have you here and to experience the Black Hills!

About the host
Hosted by Kassidi Martinez

I am from Hill City, a nearby small town. I enjoy skiing, rock climbing, hiking, reading, drinking wine on the patio. My fiancé Clayton is a co-host. He is a Fireman/EMT for the Rapid City Fire Department. We enjoy hosting because we enjoy traveling together. One of our favorite things is finding unique and interesting vacation rentals to stay in when we travel, and we wanted to provide that for people as well.
Why they chose this property
We chose it because it is not a neighborhood. We love being in nature and not having to worry about neighbors or people around. Waking up to the trees and the birds every day is far superior. Having your morning coffee in peace outside is one of life's small treasures.
What makes this property unique
We have locally thrifted most of the pieces of furniture in the rental either from estate sales, thrift stores, auctions, or antique stores. Everything was meticulously picked to fit a certain vibe and aesthetic. We hand painted the mural in the living room and truthfully poured our heart and soul into building this home and making it feel as warm and welcome as it does.
