Our families loved this house. I was staying at Chapel in the Hills and led a retreat with families. The close proximity and well maintained property was perfect.
Family gathered from several states to visit the South Dakota National Parks/Mt Rushmore/Crazy Horse. This location was fantastic - the house was clean and well laid out for family & kids. There is a playground just across the driveway and the lake is nearby. It was also a great home base for day trips out to the nearby parks (Black Hills, Mt Rushmore, Custard State Park, Crazy Horse), which we toured during the day.
The check in process was smooth. The home was quiet and in good repair. It was a great spot!
All of our family except for one meet there for the weekend. Rapid City is about half way for everyone so we planned for a fun weekend. We all enjoyed our stay at the house. The deck was great in the evenings for barbecues and watching the deer. The guy that checked us in was just great and helpful. The kids enjoyed the playground and the paddle boat. We will be meeting there again.
We were a family of thirteen( including five kiddos (Under the age of 6) and this home met all our needs. Located at the end of the road, the property has spacious back yard and the home is designed with a separate suite upstairs with fully equipped kitchen sitting area and spacious bedroom and bathroom
Downstairs offers theee bedrooms, two which are quite spacious. Living room accommodated us very well. This cabin is very close to the lake and there are areas to fish, which our family really enjoyed. There iare wildlife sightings of deer frequently and we even saw a blue heron! Also storks and an eagle too.
My only suggestions include updating the kitchen pots and pans, as a few were in need of replacement and to add additional silverware and steak knives. Also, the stairway going to the upstairs are open on one side and not safe for little ones to navigate. Offering a baby gate along with adding some type of wall/railing would solve this problem. We were able to block entry to steps with furniture/pillows but kids still managed to sneak through at times. In summary, I would return to this place in a heartbeat and will be recommending to others who are contemplating a trip to this beautiful state! Thank you for making our trip such a wonderful one!
The property was excellent, a great hub for our hiking adventures into the Badlands and Black Hills. It met all of our needs and provided spacious room for our group.
Loved the cabin plenty of room for 3 couples, nice campground, we had deer come to front door! Lots of picnic tables on deck, grill, plenty of room for large group.
Awesome lodge. Spacious - could spend time with each other, or time alone all in the same lodge. 3 full baths make this a vacation dream with people doing all kinds of activities and always on the go. Clean. All ammentities to cook and grill. Recommend to all
When we checked into the property the gentleman at the desk was very friendly was amazing at giving Information about places to go and things to see. The owner Stopped by the cabin to make sure everything was Ok. very very friendly. We had 10 adults and 6 kids and there was not one of us that had any complaints at all. Will definitely be our go to location for future family get togethers... would give 5 stars above the top rating!!!
We had a wonderful time celebrating my husband's birthday there.
House was very clean and spacious. Deer were seen many times which my grandchildren loved. Scott and staff were very nice and only a phone call away if we needed anything.
We were in town for my son’s college graduation. This house was perfect for our extended family of 10 with room to spare. The south side deck was amazing for our gathering. The grill worked amazing. We had plenty of room to spread out and plenty of bathrooms! Plus, added benefit was all the wildlife. I would highly recommend this lodge. It’s adorable!
Loved the location, short trip into town and easy walking to lake, park, and Rapid Creek.

Beautiful Space
The space was gorgeous. There were plenty of places to sleep and hang out. We had issues finding the place on GPS and so did others when we received deliveries to the address. Overall it was great. We were there for a bike event, and a few bikes staying in other places broke down so on the day we left those people had their bikes taken back and rode home with me. That morning I was accused of having 20 people staying there the whole time which was not true and left a sour taste in my mouth on an already stressful day.
This cabin had plenty of room for our group of 11. We loved the area, the lake, the deer going through our front yard. We enjoyed supper on the nice large deck. And I loved that it was right in Rapid City, close to so many things. We would definitely stay here again.
4 couples from Arkansas enjoyed the spacious, clean lodge! It was wonderful! Big rooms! Sherry in the office was so sweet and accommodating! Best ever vrbo!
We were a family of ten including 6 adults & 4 children from 2-5. The cabin worked well for us all. Plenty of room yet cozy. Nice quiet area. The kids enjoyed the playground & wildlife on the lake. Close to many attractions. Would definitely love to stay here again.

We have lived within 200 yards of Deer Glen Lodge since 1992. We loved the location then and we continue to love it now. We raised both our children here and one continues to work in the family business, Lake Park Campground and Cottages.
Why they chose this property
When Deer Glen Lodge became available in 2001 we jumped at the chance. The Lodge sets next to our home and family business, Lake Park Campground and Cottages. It has been a perfect fit.
What makes this property unique
Deer Glen Lodge gets its name from the many deer that make the surrounding meadow and hillside their home. Many visitors get to see a variety of wildlife at Deer Glen.
