Our Host was very welcoming, beautifully decorated and cosy bach. Such a shame we had rain but our first arrival day and evening was absolutely beautiful. The view from the bach is amazing, Cape Foul Wind certainly had us captivated on both days. Thank you

Everything was wonderful! Host was very welcoming, friendly and informative - loved the tip about where to spot the glow worms after dark! The walk to the lighthouse and then the seal colony was amazing. As for the accommodation, it was perfect in every way - cozy, beautifully furnished and a fabulous view - what more could you want? Highly recommend.

In the cover photo is looks like the hut is secluded, but the owners house is just out of the image. No problem for me, but people that were seeking seclusion may not realize this.In the kitchen I couldn't wash some of the dishes easily because of the dish brush. I suggest putting in a brush with a long handle. I could clean the bottom of the coffee cup for example. Otherwise this place would get a 5 star cleaning rating.The place is overall fantastic. It has charm, its presentation was immaculate, and it was beyond cosy. I would hope to stay again.

Rachael and Ron love the rugged beauty of the West Coast of New Zealand. So much so that they have made the investment to move there in 2023 and build a new home on a stunning clifftop location.

Rachael has always had a desire to become a host and so we decided to offer up our character cabin for short term accommodation. We lived in the cabin for a year whilst building and made it a little home full of soul, and a special retreat.

Rachael is also a celebrant who is passionate about ceremony and ritual. Not only does she perform weddings, funerals and baby naming ceremonies, but she also offers Cacao Ceremonies, seasonal ceremonies and more..

Ron work in IT and has his own website development and management business, as well as working for a local game development company.

Why they chose this property

We love the immersion in nature and rugged beauty of the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand.

What makes this property unique

There are no other properties at Cape Foulwind that provide the unique view we have of the ocean, the Steeples rocks and the stunning cliffs. We also have no immediate neighbours, which allows us to enjoy privacy as well as a sense of being secluded without being far from amenities. We also have famous walking and cylcing tracks literally outside our gate, making it easy to enjoy the beach, surf, fishing, walking, without having to drive anywhere.
