2 Bedroom Bungalow, Sleeps 4 ideally situated to explore the Jurassic Coast
About Claire Mills
Tony and I have lived at Hawkern House since 2003 having moved from South Devon. We have three children and a lovely dog called Biggles. Fortunately when we bought the property the old stable had been converted into a County Bungalow which is Hawkern Cottage. It has its own private garden and parking area. I enjoy the the cottage being close because I like to meet and help my guests as best I can.
Claire Mills purchased this Bungalow in 2003
Why Claire Mills chose Otterton
We choose Hawkern because of its peaceful location and wonderlful countyside views and it has the benefit of only being a 10 minute walk to the coastal path. A week in low season is £395, Mid Season £450 with high season being £650. It can also be rented out for a minimum of 2 nights at a cost £125 per night.

Very clean property and Claire was very welcoming and accommodating
Lovely property with amazing views and plenty of space
Beautiful views, ideal spot to explore.
Cottage lovely, clean and fresh. One issue was the shower, difficult to work and not very powerful.
A lovely place in a beautiful part of Devon.
A great place to stay ideal for a short or long visit in Devon
The cottage was light and airy with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Claire was very welcoming and helpful with advice on various walks around the area.
Relaxing and peaceful location
Our second trip to Otterton, just for a long weekend very relaxing. Lovely location, nice and peaceful. Cottage is fully equipped and comfortable. Would recommend.
Perfect place to stay to explore Devon and the countryside
We had a wonderful stay here. When we arrived we found a lovely card, biscuits, chocolates and plenty of tea and coffee waiting for us which was a lovely suprise. The place was very clean and tidy and very welcoming. The decor was lovely had a nice cottage feel to it. We stayed with our two teenage children and our dog. There was plenty of room for all of us. All the beds were very comfy, so much so that the kids wanted to take them home! The outside garden and patio area was lovely with a great view. It was fully enclosed so we didn't need to worry about the dog escaping and he could potter around whenever he wanted. The kitchen facilities were really good (probably better than ours at home) they had everything you could possibly need to make sure you could cook or bake whatever you wanted. The bathroom was lovely with a selection of soaps to use if we wanted to. The only small thing in the whole place which could be improved was to install a more powerful shower as the existing one was a bit weak, but the bath was lovely and made up for that. The place was ideally located and we did many walks from the cottage along the cost and the river otter. We had a lovely meal at the local pub in the village which we thought was quite reasonable in price. Although we didn't get to meet Claire, the communication was brilliant, from directions to the property to the house rules and we felt very welcome right from the beginning.
We would recommend Claire and her property to everyone looking for a warm welcoming place to get away from it all. It was ideal and would love to come back again sometime.
