About this property
Comfy, Central 2Bd, 2Ba Home: medical professionals, retirees, work from home.
My central Redlands home is available several months per year while I am travelling and your hosts are two superb property managers, Alex and Brent. Walking distance to downtown, ESRI and minutes from key hospitals and the U of R. Perfect for 1-3 and for longer term stays.
I am a local artist, known as GretchenArt, living around the world at homeaway and other sharing economy locations. My 2 bedroom 2 bath home in Redlands, California is set up with a master bedroom/bath with a King-size bed plus a 2nd bedroom with a Queen sized bed. Both bedrooms also have a sizeable desk with direct connect highest speed internet. There is a custom extra comfortable LazyBoy double sofabed and desk in the living room as well. The home is fully furnished and in the perfect central Redlands location on a quiet street-- walking distance to the University and downtown, convenient to the freeways, very close to both Redlands Community, Kaiser Permanente and Loma Linda University hospitals, and a block from ESRI, etc. This will be perfect for one or two people who are visiting friends or relatives, traveling or working as a travel nurse/doctor, professor, ESRI, in town for special events or treatments, or looking for a more permanent home to buy in the area... and my home is available primarily longer term where San Bernardino County requires minimum one month and I prefer renting for several month periods, but will rent for one month. Generally, I must rent discrete months, with some exceptions. Note there is no garage parking, but parking in the driveway and on the street. The garage is available as a laundry room and would fit a motorcycle. There is a full length deck with 2 picnic tables, solar umbrellas and house length reading bench on the side as well as 2 chaise lounges and a covered patio with furnished conversation corner. The top of the line chargoal grill means you can have the occasional larger family and friends gathering for Thanksgiving, Christmas, holidays and birthdays etc.

We had a fabulous stay in Redlands at Gretchen’s house. It’s a cozy older home that is in a good location. We walked to Redlands Bowl and downtown. We will book again if possible.

Response from VrboOwner on 10 July 2025
It was great to host you! Please do come again. My place is again available this year starting September. The review from Alex and my end follows: Dorothy and Mark were fantastic guests. They were excellent with communication, left the house neat and orderly, and treated our home with great care and respect. We would gladly host them again anytime!
Accuracy of property listing could have been more clearer. Since we were 3 Adults, 2nd bedroom with Sofa bed was very uncomfortable. Overall stay was good. Since it was our first time renting with VRBO, we didn’t know about replacement of toiletries protocol. Owner said that she was supposed to provide for about 1 week only .We think the price for staying should include for the entire stay. Overall the stay was comfortable. Hope this helps.
Pretty good overall, some things broken, didn't inform about 1-week policy for toiletries/supplies
It was a pretty good stay overall, I was here for four weeks and it’s a nice location that is very close to everything in Redlands and Loma Linda. Loved the artwork that the owner has up all over the house it really brought color to the space!Main things to note are that we weren't told about this 1-week policy of asking for toiletries/supplies until the very end. The printer was out of ink and only 2 dishwasher pods upon arrival. The property manager is very responsive though and regularly provided me with those supplies. Nothing really wrong about this but I wish it was clearer on expectations of their rules before I arrived. There is also a regular insecticide sprayer that comes every few weeks and came in the middle of our stay. We weren't notified about it until after we had already started living there, and when they came, multiple crickets were crawling through the kitchen sink and jumping around the kitchen. Recommend plugging the sink hole before then.A few things like the dishwasher top shelf and a kitchen drawer were loose and kept falling down, but that's not a big deal. There's also a whiny neighboring dog that will regularly yip/whine every minute during the day when the neighbors leave it outside, as soon as you step outside it barks at you until you go back in. That was difficult especially when Im trying to work. But those were the main drawbacks. Everything else was very nice and it's a good place for long-term stays!
Gretchen definitely has created an environment that feels like home. Great accommodations with a beautiful patio and deck to relax. The house is well decorative with Gretchen's beautiful artwork. The location is within walking distance to historic downtown Redlands. A truly comfortable place when traveling.

This was a great spot!
My family of 4 stayed here for a month while visiting family in Redlands. Gretchen’s place was cool, easy and comfortable. It had everything we needed. The front yard is shaded, which was so nice in July. The house isn’t fancy, but cute, filled with Gretchen’s art and we felt right at home! We will definitely consider staying again, as this place was a rare find, safe, close to town and affordable... a great value! Thank you so much Gretchen!

About the host
Hosted by Gretchen
Local "Paint the Town Redlands" artist, I returned to Redlands in 2014 and purchased this cozy home then. I am living around the world at sharing economy homes in the summertime and wintertime and spend the spring/fall in the Redlands area.
Why they chose this property
Redlands is a very family and arts and culture friendly town, somewhat conservative and with a thriving art association, local theatre, plenty of history, and still great oranges and lots of good restaurants. My mother lived in town for 30+ years and I first bought a home here in 2000. I returned from living in Texas and abroad to purchase this property as my second home, with my first home being the world.
What makes this property unique
I have hosted several guests who are visiting professors, people needing longer term medical treatment at nearby Redlands or Loma Linda hospitals, students doing summer internships at Amazon and elsewhere, etc. It is furnished with everything needed for a busy couple, executive, retiree or student, with 2 offices and full furnishings.
