Hotel Rivel is a unique and special place. It is a non-profit organization run by an incredible team of Costa Ricans. I originally purchased this jungle oasis as a potential future retirement destination but I selfishly experience more happiness from sharing it with guests and family.

Hotel Rivel is a haven where you can relax, rejuvenate, and connect with nature. We feature a full restaurant, private lodges, a fresh water infinity pool, as well as thousands of fruit trees and coffee plants. You can pick your own fresh fruit and eggs from our free-range chickens.

I personally guarantee that you will find the ultimate reset at Hotel Rivel. There’s nothing in your life that can’t be solved by spending a week here.

Why they chose this property

I had never been to Costa Rica before but I had it in my head that I was going to find a property to purchase for an eventual retirement spot. This property was ROUGH in the beginning. No road access, only jungle, no electricity and very isolated. It wasn't until I saw the property had the most incredible views from atop a large rock did I decide "this is where I'll build the house!" - of course.... that was 4 years ago and now the "house" is a full retreat featuring 10+ cabins and a fully licensed restaurant and bar! It does help that this area is actually "Pura Vida" vs many of the coastal cities like Tamarindo that have transitioned to more of a tourism experience rather than a genuine Costa Rican experience - this place is the definition of Pura Vida and the staff are family.

What makes this property unique

It's a non-profit project and all profit is redistributed to the staff that is working there. The longer their tenure, the larger their % of the revenue on an annual basis. They live and die by the reviews so take 2 minutes and look up our reviews online and you'll see the staff make the difference. This different approach demonstrates the importance of taking the staff on the journey and making them partners - they go above and beyond for our guests and treat them like family - that's the whole point and the experience is unlike anything you've experienced before.
