Ask a questionAbout Louann Kohlbeck
Owner Photo is of Louann and her Mom on the "Sunset Bench". Our home holds volumes of precious family memories. All of us have special times here with our individual families, extended families, and friends. 'Girls week' at Christmas and in the summer draws 3 generations of moms-daughters-cousins for boating, hiking, cooking and general relaxing together. Couples weekends are also a treat as we frequently entertain friends for an activity and a meal.
Louann Kohlbeck purchased this House in 1993
Why Louann Kohlbeck chose Northport
Our parents attended The Leelanau School (near The Homestead in Glen Arbor) in the 1940's when Leelanau County was a remote and hidden jewel. As our family grew up we visited Glen Arbor for vacations and then attended camp at Leelanau-Kohahna now located on Pyramid Point - just down the shore. The county has been 'second home' for three generations now but remains 'first' in our hearts. Our home on 'Big Blue' is a true retreat where peace and tranquility abides. For those of us who enjoy 'garden therapy' we have a large and lovely place to commune with the soil and flowering plants. Our home is located on a certified 'Natural Beauty Road' just a 2-mile walk from a favorite local bar & grill on M-22 - the now famous state highway that winds its way around the perimeter of Leelanau County. Mom and Dad fell in love with this place because it was a bit off the beaten track of the tourist crowd which tends to stay closer to the National Park, and it offered a peaceful and quiet retreat.
What makes this House unique
The unique architectural design of this home combined with the sense of seclusion yet convenient distance from both Northport and Leland (10 mins either direction) make this place perfect for extended stays. It is a family home - not just a typical vacation rental property - and offers the comforts and conveniences of a year-round home. Come and enjoy!
