Peaceful rustic cabin in the country with Views, Hot Tub, and Firwateplace.
This is a peaceful little cabin/house perched above the winding Pedernales River arm of Lake Travis out in the Texas Hill Country. This summer of 2025 watch snowy egrets wade in the creek below and graceful vultures soaring past the deck at eye level. Enjoy expansive sunrise views with morning birdsong and the evening glow of a rising moon in this serene setting. Although the river is not accessible due to low levels, there is still a front row seat to all its wild beauty.
We are across the river from the Blissful Hill wedding venue and down the street from the Cypress Valley Event Center.
There is complete privacy on one side of the home where our two year old hot tub (serviced weekly) is located. Our home has two bedrooms. One bedroom has a king bed and the other has two doubles. There is one full bath and a second half bath. . There is a flat screen TV in the living and each of the bedrooms.
If you start craving action, we are centrally located between Austin and Marble Falls and only 15 minutes to the Lakeway Hill Country Galleria's restaurants, shops and theaters. Or maybe just open a bottle of wine and hang out on the deck on the porch swing. Or take off down to Krause Spring's famous spring-fed swimming hole and butterfly garden a couple minutes a way. Or try some new wines from Stone House Winery, also just a few minutes away. And of course Opies Barbeque and Poodie's Roadhouse, and Angels are famous in Spicewood.
If you have friends or family or an event in this area or just want to getaway from it all, you can't go wrong making this your home base. Send me an email or book online to make a reservation and let me know the nature of your stay and I'll get back with you ASAP.

This stay was everything we hoped for and more. The home was incredibly peaceful, clean, and cozy, the perfect place to unwind. The view was absolutely breathtaking, especially at sunrise and sunset. Every detail was thoughtfully prepared, making us feel right at home. We loved how quiet and serene the surroundings were, and it gave us a real chance to disconnect and relax. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a refreshing escape in nature. We played table tennis and enjoyed a lot. Thanks to our lovely host.
This was a lovely home along the Pedernales River near many wineries, but not on one. The back porch was the perfect spot to watch the river and many bird species. The home was perfectly appointed with multiple sitting areas outside, a porch swing, a hot tub, fire pit, grill, comfy couches, and any kitchen implement one might need. We used it as a base for hiking the numerous state parks in the area. It could not have been better.

Our Stay
Property in a peaceful area ,with nice back porch, and would have been a 4 starvrental, but many lighting issues, burnt out bulbs, and confusing placement of switches. All had dimmer sliders, but only worked if at brightest setting because all lights were LED.Took forever fumbling in dark when we got there to figure out how to turn on. Faucets in shower very wonky. King box spring way too soft on one side, causing bed to sink on that side when sat on, and uncomfortable sleeping on that side. King bed platform too long at foot of bed, and my wife got a nasty bruise on her shin hitting it in the dark. brightest mosetting
We really loved our stay. Waking up in the morning and enjoying our coffee on the deck overlooking the river was perfect. Our host was thoughtful and communicative. The home has everything you need for a short or long stay. The hot tub and fireplace were like icing on the cake!
Very nice cabin stocked with everything you need.
Beautiful back porch overlooking the Pedernales and a large living/dining/kitchen area perfect for gathering.
Easy check in and out and responsive owners.
Would definitely recommend!
The cabin has great views even though sadly the river is almost dry. The a/c works well and the beds are comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked except for spices that are old. I would recommend for an enjoyable vacation retreat.
We had a wonderful time on a long weekend away from Austin. We always look for a hot tub on a listing and this one was hot and ready with working jets. Very much needed after a day of hiking in hill country.I wanted to take the porch home with me! The views were great, we saw deer and all kinds of birds, the breeze was constant and kept the mosquitos away. The windchime is soothing and the neighborhood was so quiet. We took a walk around the neighborhood and imagined a time when the river was high and all of the docks and decks were utilized. Really interesting to look where the water line is in non-drought times. The kitchen is well stocked with most of what you'd need cooking wise. We cooked some everyday and it was easy to navigate the kitchen. Loved the cutting board kitchen island. We brought our own water due to the hard water mentioned in the posting.Close to Marble Falls (and the Bluebonnet Cafe with the biggest lemon meringue pie you've ever seen.) Also nearby: Krause Springs, Reimer Ranch, Hamilton Pool, Pedernales Farmer's Market (where we saw James Vanderbeek and took home some delicious blue oyster mushrooms).Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a low key, rustic and relaxing trip.
My family and I had a great stay. The view is awesome and enjoyed spending time outside.. It was very convenient to an event that we had in Spicewood. The kitchen had everything we needed. Would stay again.
We enjoyed our time at this home…evenings in the hot tub and morning coffee out on the deck! Such a cute house and great location to visit various vineyards, breweries and Krause Springs! The owner was prompt to reply as well. You will love your time here!
Rustic home, private location, private setting.
Could use some updates in the downstairs sleeping area (We did not need to utilize this area), but overall a nice stay in the main upstaire area.
We came to town for a family wedding at nearby Cypress Valley, and this property checked all the boxes. Location was perfect, the setting is picturesque, and the home is very cozy and "easy to use". The kitchen is well stocked and the beds are comfortable, with televisions and WiFi to keep you connected. But best of all is the back deck - great view with plenty of seating (porch swing!) and very private. Bird watching with coffee in the morning was pretty cool (yeah, I'm a dork), as was staying up late chatting with family while looking out over the river. I would 100% re-book this property - the owners were super easy to work with and there were absolutely no hassles. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!
Nice quiet place
Has everything we need for 2 of us
House is clean. Location is perfect for our trip
View from balcony is very beautiful
Full kitchen with everything you think you may need
Hot tub very relaxing
Make sure you bring enough food for entire stay. This place is far away from any stores and restaurants
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.. very comfortable.. had everything we needed and more! The hot tub was amazing and HOT! The view was spectacular .. the water is not reachable anymore bc the lake is so low for years..very enjoyable and private.. nice and quiet.. perfect for our anniversary.. felt like we were in a treehouse on the patio.. listening to the birds.. Enjoy it!

Peaceful Retreat with Incredible Views!!
If you are looking for a comfortable place to escape...you have found it! We thoroughly enjoyed starting each day sitting on the deck to drink our coffee overlooking the river. Gorgeous!! The owners were wonderful to work with and very responsive!
Would definitely return to this unique cozy place!!
House was spacious, very nice, very clean, nice furniture. Kitchen utensils and other items well-stocked. Porch deck with furniture was excellent. View of lake was very nice, even though it is currently low. Good bird watching, if you like that. Access to a number of parks for exploring local wildlife and wildflowers: Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge, Pedernales Falls State Park, Milton Reimer Ranch Park. These are all very good if you are new to this part of Texas.
Communication with host was good.
If we make it back to Texas hill country, this is definitely a place we would stay again.

Peaceful river view retreat
My husband and I so enjoyed our stay at the Spicewood house. It is just remote enough from Austin to be quiet and rural in feel, yet close enough to offer lots of options. There are some good restaurants in the area, too. We loved sitting on the porch and watching the few motor boats and jet skis go by. A few hummingbirds visited the feeder, and cardinals had nested in the tree to the side of the porch. We brought lots of groceries and ate in half of the time there. The sunsets are unbeatable.
The house is furnished comfortably, not elegantly, and is incredibly kid and pet friendly. There were lots of board games and a couple for the yard as well. As for me, i enjoyed reading a book on the porch swing or rocking chair.
Cabin was clean; kitchen was well stocked with every appliance and utensil you could possibly need; bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, lotions, first aid kit with antiseptics, and hair dryer; lake views were very nice; plenty of board/card games for kids and family; furniture was comfy; we did use the TV, but only with our FireStick, so I'm not sure what channels were available. It was quite a tortuous climb to the boat dock, so be careful! Walkway to the boat dock was in disrepair, so we avoided it after the first day. We did hear some construction going on near the boat dock during the rest of our stay, but never went down to check it out. We were too busy going to the springs and jet skiing/boating. We found a few bugs the first day, but our dogs apparently dispatched of them for the rest of our time at the cabin. (a few bugs might be expected since it is a cabin in a wooded area) Overall, it was a pretty good stay.

About the host
Hosted by Vicki or Gerald Lamar
We live in Austin and like to escape to the Hill Country for a quick getaway for some peace and relaxation.
Why they chose this property
We like the peaceful, country laid-back feel out here, the many moods of the weather (usually very breezy) sitting on the deck overlooking the River below and the decidedly Not City life out here. One of the best springfed swimming holes, Krause Springs is just minutes away or enjoy an afternoon picnic at The Stone House Winery just down the country road. Opie's BarBQ is an easy drive towards Spicewood.
What makes this property unique
This is a good home base between Lakeway and Marble Falls or a day trip to Fredericksburg or Johnson City or to Austin to visit 6th Street The Live Music Capital of the World or the University of Texas Campus or the LadyBird Wildflower Center.
