The Retreat

Thanks for considering "The Retreat" for your future Austin stay. We love hosting guests and will do our best to insure that you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay here.
The property is only twenty minutes away from Austin"s vibrant city nightlife in Austin Lake Estates (us locals refer our neighborhood as Cuernavaca). Nestled in the scenic Hill Country the views are amazing. If your in the the mood to shop, see a flic, or dine out, the Hill Country Galleria is just ten minutes away. How about a hike? Commons Ford Park is in the neighborhood on beautiful Lake Austin.
The retreat has three cozy bedrooms (three queen size beds), two very comfortable living room spaces, two full bathrooms, and a full kitchen with breakfast bar. Direct TV , Netflix, Amazon Prime, along with high speed internet is on site.
Whether it's soaking your aches and pains in the hot tub, relaxing under a canopy of oaks in the hammocks, grilling on the Bar B Q grill(electric and charcoal), sitting around the fire pit, or watching a movie on the big screen it is all here for
Welcome to The Retreat!
-The owner lives in the back of the property when in town.
-Well mannered pups and kitties are welcomed. There is a $100 per pet fee that will be requested at time of booking.

The location is good for Bee Cave and Austin with lots of places to eat and shop. The owner left some breakfast options for us, which was nice. There were only 4-5 forks so we had to wash them after every meal. The hot tub water was a little smelly so we only got in it once. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Thanks for staying with here at the retreat and taking time to write a review. I do wish you would of contacted me during your stay as I would of loved the opportunity to rectify your concerns. Im surprised the hot tub had a foul smell as it was fully drained and cleaned the night before your stay. I will of course look into this and purchase more utensils. Have a great summer and thanks for leaving the house in good order.

The Yard was great for my dog to roam around and we enjoyed the peaceful scenery. My friends said hot water upstairs was out, but otherwise very pleasant stay.

Everything was great. The house was very nice. All of the beds were comfortable. It was clean and had everything we needed. The yard is big and nice and the neighborhood was quiet. Steve responded to all of my questions very quickly too. Highly recommend!

Wonderful stay in a great location

This property has beautiful landscaping, great artwork and a really accommodating host (Steve). He provided breakfast food for us, sent excellent directions for check in and made contact to ensure our comfort. We had Our small dog, and the fencing provided great security and privacy. Really enjoyed the stay!

We had an outstanding stay. Great music theme, all the amenities, Jacuzzi, and owner is a great guy. Perfect location for west Austin /hill country activities. We had a concert at One World Theater, minutes drive.

Great Home And Place To Stay In Austin

Spent the weekend in Austin with family at this wonderful home. The home was clean, in great shape, and everything was as described in the listing. The neighborhood where the home is located is quiet and provides a great place to explore Austin from. The Host was very communicative and accommodating during our stay. Additionally, he provided us with some breakfast food and water which was greatly appreciated. This is a great place to stay and when we’re back in Austin we will definitely stay here again.

This was the best experience! Three moms and our three adult daughters for our annual mother/daughter trip….our host was amazing and kind! The house itself was perfect for us. And…we got to hang out with Tessie Mae! ❤️ Highly recommend to anyone in the Austin area!!

Best away from home stay ever!

The property is fenced and very well groomed and perfect for our dog. The kitchen is well equipped. Home very comfortable too. Quiet and safe neighborhood. I walked daily at Commons Ford, so beautiful! Steve is the perfect host!!

Weekend getaway for my birthday weekend

We absolutely loved The Retreat! When we arrived we were greeted with birthday decorations and cupcakes from the host. The host is a really great guy, very personable, accommodating, and approachable. We felt very safe here and it was very homey. Added bonus with all the music themed decorations as we are a musical family. Also loved how welcoming he was to our dogs who don’t get out much. Can’t find a lot of true dog friendly places so that was great! Wish we got to stay longer and would absolutely stay again when in Austin!

Wonderful Stay

We had a wonderful stay at this property. We often travel with our dog and it is hard to find a nice yard with good fencing. This property had everything we needed. The home was in great condition and very nicely decorated. The check-in and check-out process was the easiest we have had with a short term rental. This is definitely a place we will tell our friends and family about. Steve was a great host!

Very clean, comfortable house.

The house was very clean and well cared for. The hot tub in the yard was welcomed after running the Austin marathon. We met the owner briefly, he was very nice. He left breakfast food and water which was very kind. The property is gated in at night. It’s about a 20 minute drive from downtown. There’s a cool coffeehouse in the neighborhood.

This is a great property. Clean and well equipped. Close to some really neat restaurants and many other conveniences. Steve is a fabulous host who thinks of everything and makes sure we have everything required to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Booked the last 2 years and already booked again for next year. Great spot!

Great hill country retreat

My family and I were visiting Austin for the holiday weekend and UT football game. The Retreat was the perfect place for our stay. Steve and Tessie Mae were excellent hosts! He even had snacks waiting for my family since we arrived so late. So very thoughtful. 😊 I would highly recommend this location for anyone visiting the Austin area. We would certainly love to stay here again.

Great Austin area house

My family immensely enjoyed our stay at this property. We use VRBO a lot and this property is one of the best. We were in town for a wedding and needed space for our family of 4 and our dog. This house and host were perfect! The house is like a home away from home and the property is beautiful and spacious. Getting to know Steve and his sweet dog, Tessie Mae, were a bonus to our stay. Steve even took care of our dog while we were at the wedding!

I have been living in Austin for twenty years. I play music in Austin along with teaching tennis. I love my home and took pride and care with every improvement I've made since living here. I started hosting guests here three years ago on a rival site and it has been such a positive experience I decided to broaden my exposure and get on Home Away. I have had so many great guests here and to share my home is a pleasure.
I just ask that you please treat it as your own with respect while you stay here.

What makes this property unique

I know your going to want and explore all that Austin has to offer and my home is only twenty minutes from the night life of downtown and a stones throw from The Hill Country (actually we are on the fringes of The Hill Country technically)
Lake Austin and Commons Ford Park (for hiking) are a mile or so away. Venture out to Zilker Park, Mount Bonnell, Wimberley, The Oasis, and Hamilton Pool. Old Fredericksburg is about an hour away if you want to do a day trip. There is so much to do in Austin the tricky part is picking!
Got the munchies? Try out the local taste of Austin Pizza at The 263 walking distance just down the road. The Hill Country Galleria walking mall with all it's shops is located only five miles away. There you will find many restaurants, bars, a movie theater, Starbucks, retail stores, Whole Foods, Austin's favorite Maudie's and our own great supermarket HEB. Rosie's is just down the road from the mall on Highways 71 for a taste of old Tex Mex.
