About this property
Gorgeous Log Home on Private Acres
Paper Moon is a lovely log cabin nestled among oaks and elms in the quiet countryside, just 1.5 miles from downtown Wimberley. You’ll cross a scenic low water crossing over Pierce Creek, a wet-weather creek that runs through the front of the property, as you drive in. This spacious cabin was lovingly hand-built in 1985, and has been recently renovated by the current owners while retaining its rustic charm. Paper Moon is ideal for family and friend gatherings as well as romantic escapes. Shopping and dining in Wimberley is only 5 minutes away, or you can just stay at the cabin and watch the deer graze as you enjoy your morning coffee from the porch, have a family BBQ on the covered deck, enjoy the hot tub and fire pit, or snuggle up by the fireplace. Thischarming log home with 3 bedrooms (2 private, 1 loft) and two bathrooms features a hot tub, outdoor seating, a fire pit, a large covered deck, charcoal grill and hammock. The name Paper Moon comes from a popular portrait fad that began in the late 19th century. It was an inexpensive and fun way to have one’s portrait taken and paper moon booths were often set up at fairs and carnivals. We enjoy these vintage portraits which often depict folks with big grins having a good time, unlike traditional portraits of the time. As you meander from room to room in our charming cabin you’ll find vintage paper moon photos hanging on the walls, including some sent in by previous guests.
This eco-conscious cabin offers: recycling, eco-friendly soaps, detergents & cleaning products, recycled premium paper products and a reverse-osmosis drinking water system (no need for plastic bottles). Pet Fee: Our pet fee is $50 each for friendly, leashed pets. Please declare pets at time of booking (max 2 pets without prior approval). VRBO NOTE: Vrbo only charges one pet fee, so a 2nd pet fee will be added after booking, if applicable.
Please note: the water at the Pierce Creek low water crossing is designed to gently flow over the road, however, the water can rise during periods of extremely heavy rain so please use good judgment before crossing. This generally doesn't happen more than a couple of times a year, and we find that it typically recedes to a normal level within an hour or two of the rain stopping. We're always happy to pop over and take a look if you're unsure about the water level.

The cute log cabin was perfect for our Girls Getaway! Everything was clean and welcoming. We made some fun, special memories. We saw beautiful redbirds and other birds at the feeder. The beds were comfortable and the inside was cozy.
Wonderful getaway to Wimberley that was even better by staying at the Paper Moon Log Cabin. Clean, cozy, comfortable beds, great linens...everything was perfect!
Great location, close to town, if you are traveling with a pet this location is ideal. Cabin could use some work, and the exterior windows were full of hornets nests and cobwebs, could use a good exterior cleaning. Hosts were sweet and left us champagne and coffee beans, as well as treats for our pup which was very kind! We would stay there again.
My book club stayed at this place for our end of the year winter retreat!! It was isolated enough for us to sit around and snack, rest, and read! But close enough to town to go out for dinner and shop! We had a wonderful stay!
week long stay in Wimberley with excursions in the neighboring areas and towns - location is close enough to town to make a morning run for a cup of coffee very easy. Wimberley is busy and traffic is a real thing. Our cabin was close enough to town to be maybe 7 minutes away and far enough away to see an 8 point buck wandering the property. Wifi is great, no complaints at all. Very much needed escape.
My family had a great stay here. Very nice place inside and out, and the hosts are very helpful and communicative. Check in and checkout were very easy. Highly recommend!
Beautiful and quiet family getaway! Lots of space and well maintained! We will be scheduling our next visit soon!

Why they chose this property
The Wimberley hill country has a special place in our hearts. We feel like we have our own little slice of hill country heaven and we love to share it with our guests. We are striving to restore the natural landscape of the property outside of the immediate area around the house to provide animal habitat, a healthy riparian landscape and privacy. Our guests often see foxes, deer, a variety of birds, and other wildlife. After we have good rains, the wet-weather creek is a lovely spot to watch for wildlife.
What makes this property unique
This home is the perfect gathering spot for families and friends. The large yard complete with horseshoes, bbq, a hot tub under the veranda and fire pit make it an easy place to have fun, relax, and reconnect. We host many groups coming to Wimberley for weddings, girls' weekends, friend reunions and more. We'd love to host you!
