About the host
Hosted by Robin Kelly
I’m Robin, your host at The Leanor in downtown Aztec, New Mexico. I live just up the street and love sharing the rich history and vibrant culture of our community with visitors from all over the world.
I’ve restored this 1906 mercantile into a boutique apartment so guests can experience both comfort and connection to the stories of the Four Corners. When I’m not hosting, you’ll find me exploring the high desert on horseback, enjoying our local trails, or supporting historic preservation projects in downtown Aztec.
Being a host is more than just providing a place to stay—it’s about creating memorable experiences. Whether you’re here for adventure, history, or simply to relax with a glass of local wine, I’m delighted to share this special corner of New Mexico with you.

Why they chose this property
I chose this neighborhood because it’s the heart of historic downtown Aztec. The Leanor sits right on Main Avenue, surrounded by locally owned shops, cafés, breweries, and cultural landmarks. I love that guests can walk to grab coffee in the morning, enjoy live music or a glass of wine in the evening, and still be just minutes from outdoor adventures like the Aztec Ruins, Alien Run Bike Trail, and Navajo Lake.
What I enjoy most is the mix of small-town charm and big adventures. From strolling historic Main Street to hiking in the Bisti Badlands or exploring Chaco Canyon, this neighborhood makes it easy to feel both connected and inspired.

What makes this property unique
The Leanor was built in 1906 and has been lovingly restored to showcase her original beauty. I worked with an architect to preserve the historic footprint while carefully maintaining the 200+ year-old wood floors and baseboards.
The home is filled with personal touches—turquoise inlaid into the wood floors and picture frames crafted from the building’s original window frames—that honor both the past and the people who shaped it.
The Leanor is named in honor of my mother, Eleanor, a hardworking lifetime resident of the area who dedicated her career as a high school nurse and at Farmington Regional Hospital. Her commitment to caring for others is part of the spirit of this space.
To complement the history, I added modern comforts—beautifully tiled bathrooms with rain showers, a brand-new kitchen, and thoughtful amenities—so guests enjoy the best of both worlds: timeless character and contemporary convenience.
