I'm one of those people who HATE sales presentations so I was really nervous when I read some of the reviews. I'm assuming that, because we rented from an owner and not directly from Wyndham, we were not really on their sales radar. When you pick up your parking passes at check in, you are offered some sales incentives but you are not hassled about them. It was no big deal. We had NO other sales pressure, calls, etc. the rest of our trip.
The resort itself was really nice! We were there mid-July which should have been the busiest week of the year and I didn't feel crowded at all. The pools are nice, lazy river is fun and there were always tubes and deck chairs available. The resort is SUPER clean and has beautiful views of the ocean from almost every room. This place is great for teens with the snack bar, hang out place, arcade area. Our room was super clean and, surprisingly, the best equipped condo we have ever rented, as far as the kitchen supplies, provided toiletries, and linens are concerned. We all felt it was a nice blend between a condo and a hotel. A little more to offer than the standard hotel (concierge/room service, parking shuttle, multiple pools/amenities, beach/bath towels replaced by request, high quality bedding, etc.); A little more homey than a standard hotel (great kitchen supplies, lots of drawers and double vanity in the master, very efficient washer/dryer IN THE UNIT, plenty of blankets and pillows, provided laundry soap, dish supplies, coffee filters).
If you are looking for peace and quiet, this might not be your thing. It is a high rise and there are a lot of people coming and going. That said, it is not spring-breaky with crazy partying or anything like that. Our unit was quiet and peaceful but it is a busy resort.
The parking is tricky but seriously, if you cannot walk ACROSS THE STREET, you can always take the shuttle. But SERIOUSLY, it's about a 25 yard walk...toughen up a bit. We had a family member with some mobility problems and this resort was really good for her. Elevator access to every level and a shuttle if she needed it (which she didn't). A fun thing to do is park your car for the week and rent a golf cart. There is garage parking for them!
The town of North Myrtle was a pleasant surprise for us. Cute shops that everyone could enjoy, a little carnival, good food. Plenty for us!
Renting this unit was easy and really affordable for what you get. Great vaca for all families!
