The space had very cozy cabin vibes. We loved all of the woodwork, artwork and books in the cabin. It was right by a main road and easy to get to Montevideo and the rest of the Meander Art Crawl that we were attending. The cabin was clean and well-stocked with towels, toilet paper, blankets, etc.

We had a wonderful stay after some very hot (99) days at the Heritage Hill tractor show. It was nice to return to this quiet and cool little retreat after being in the heat all day to watch a movie and just relax. So much neat decor to admire.

Our stay was very easy going! I REALLY appreciated that there wasn't a list of "things to do" before checking out...it definitely made us WANT to do more vs feeling the obligations of making sure we had everything done on the checklist. We still left the Old Studio Apartment in superior shape with laundry done, dishes washed, garbage taken out, etc., however THIS piece of the stay made it feel like a vacation for a mama that could give her best efforts but not feel judged.I was pleasantly surprised (others with the app might not have any issues), but I could not scroll all amenities...so I had planned games for the kids and no tv, but it was there. We felt like it was a great place for our family to have downtime after our activities out. We definitely appreciated our stay!

Montevideo serene studio

This was a great place to stay, it has the feeling of a cross between a north woods cabin and an antique shop! You can spend hours looking at all the different things on the wall! The place was very clean and neat, there is ample parking and plenty of room for turning trucks and trailers around! The only draw back is there’s only one bed room so you better be comfortable with the people you’re there with! All in all it’s a great property and I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to anyone staying in the area!

Everything was in good condition. The place is small, but it had everything we needed. The artwork and displays are a great touch. My kid loved the bunk bed ("The Cave"), which was not just a simple bunk bed - seemed like he was in his own little world up there.I only have two nitpicks about the property - not enough to reduce my rating from 5 stars, but things you should probably know. First, the water smells bad. The owners provide separate drinking water, but doing dishes, taking a shower, etc., it just smelled bad coming out of the faucet. We got used to it, though.Second, the internet was on the slow side. The owners did send us a message at check-in saying if we had trouble with the internet to message them. It was never that bad that I wanted to call them. Netflix is provided, but streaming was sometimes a struggle. Maybe it could have been fixed if we had given the owners a call, but I was guessing that internet service in the area in general is just slow. (Since I live rural, I understand.)Other than those two small things, I found the apartment to be everything we needed, and I am already looking at staying here again.

Unexpected Gem

My wife and I recently spent 10 days at this unique and lovely place. The decor is one of a kind with features and decorations designed by the owner who is an accomplished wood worker and a well known and respected artist in the area.Kitchen was nice for such a long stay and outfitted with everything you need. (stove, microwave, toaster oven, fridge and two coffee makers!) We were able to make many meals for ourselves.Bathroom is a little small but works fine.Washer and dryer is in its own laundry closet. It is certainly handy.It is quiet too.

The property is absolutely incredible. The wood work and decoration had do much time and effort put into it that it is indescribable. You walk in the front door and you are transported into a different world entirely. The only reason i give it 4 stars would be that it is a perfect location for any outdoorsman during normal conditions, but my stay was during a heavy rain season so the entire surrounding area was heavily flooded and there were no opportunities to do anything besides stay inside and watch TV, dont even get me started on the mosquitoes. Also the area is a cellular deadzone so there is minimal to no reception what so ever. The neighboring town is very small and has very minimal options for entertainment. The best time to stay here would be when the wetlands are at their dryest or wintertime so you can take advantage of the wilderness opportunities. The property owners Are the sweetest of people and I would absolutely recommend this location to anybody.

Scenery and wildlife abound. La Qui Parle and it 20,000+ public acres are a 10-15 minute drive away. The studio sits on the bluff, at the convergence of the Chippewa and Minnesota Rivers.

What makes this property unique

This is the former studio of Doug Pederson. A lot of Dougs Artwork can be seen here and is sort of a museum for his work. Doug is best known for his work in Scrimshaw. He also worked in wood and bone. Half of the building is still in use as a wood shop and makers space.
