About this property

Charming Saugerties Cottage on Creek

This wonderfully renovated 1820 home marries modern amenities and design with 19th century charm. Situated on the clear bubbling Plattekill Creek, it boasts a large modern eat-in kitchen with large windows and a panoramic view of the creek.

The house sleeps 4-6 people comfortably with 3 bedrooms, two with twin beds , one with a full-sized bed, a queen-sized sofa bed in the main living room and a queen-sized loft bed area for guests.

The kitchen overlooks a large lawn, wonderful tall trees, and the beautiful Platekill Creek. If you are an early riser you might see the Great Blue Heron. Enjoy picnics on the lawn, relax in Adirondack chairs with a small fire pit on cooler evenings along the creek bank.

Near the cottage we recommend you visit the charming towns of Saugerties and Woodstock, or head to ski at Hunter Mountain and other ski resorts only 30 minutes away..

Beautiful spot
We had great communication with Liz and the house was comfortable and well-located with easy access to Saugerties and the surrounding Hudson Valley. Sitting by the fire pit on the river’s edge was a treat at the end of each day as was watching the morning mist in the morning. The listing photos should be updated as the furniture has changed (for the better!) . The only note is that the deep tub/shower combo is not in the pictures and getting in and out of it was a bit of challenge. The water pressure and hot water were both plentiful.

A Lovely Cottage
We decided to get away to a quiet place for a long weekend. We got lucky with this property. A nice cottage by the river with a fire pit amid an intimate setting. The owner, Ms. Sharpe, made our stay lovely. Such attention to detail as the well equipped kitchen, cleanliness, some firewood, and the cookies. A nice touch. We also noticed the books available for our amusement. Such interesting tittles. We highly recommend the cottage to anyone who wants to stay in the area. Thanks Liz for everything.

Wonderful Cottage home
Perfect cottage home. Beautiful big kitchen with views of the creek you can not beat. Minutes from Woodstock and stores yet still secluded and private. Very convenient. Would certainly stay again

NYE stay
Beautiful kitchen overlooking beautiful property, and a great place with a very responsible owner. Upstairs is a little cramped though.

Clean, Pleasant House
We stayed here for one weekend. We found the house very clean and well maintained. Kitchen is pleasant and functional, living room is very nice with comfortable sofas. Owner was accommodating and helpful. Front of the house is very close to the road, but it's not a busy road, and there is a nice creek in the back where it is quiet. Easy drive to historic Saugerties Village and to Woodstock. There is no a/c.

I am a New York City native who has enjoyed many holidays in this house with my spouse, 4 children and 9 grandchildren. It's a wonderful place to unwind from the city and get together with those you love.

Why they chose this property

First viewed this property in 2007 in the midst of an icy winter setting. Put a deposit on it the same day. Had no idea how even more lovely it would be throughout the seasons. The former owner, a jazz singer who also teaches at Bard rennovated the property with an artist's eye. We still feel lucky to have it.

This house has everything I love. The tiger lilies along the bank of the creek. Lilac trees, and lilies of the valley in the spring. The sounds of the creek, the birds and wildlife.

What makes this property unique

Views from the house are from every perspective stunning. It combines the best attributes of both an old and new home. The soft murmur of the creek is always in the background.

A nearby bridge overlooks a small waterfall. I love the friendly town of Saugerties with its shops and Farmers Market on Saturday.
