About this property
Stunning 5 bed Waterfront Oasis with deck over the River
Relax at River Song House - your own private waterfront hideaway with 5 bedrooms / 2 full bath and a relaxed, designer vibe. Private grounds slope down to a waterfront deck/dock, bluestone patio, fire pit, 10 seater outdoor table, 2 double hammocks and direct frontage on the banks of the Esopus Creek! Perfect place for couples, friends, or family get- togethers.
Check out the water views from the wall of windows in the living area, with cathedral ceiling, vintage leather couches & a dining area with an 8 seater table made from raw-edge Catskill Pine. The large kitchen has everything you need for cooking meals plus a butcher-block counter window to sit & chat with whoever is making the food.. or mixing the drinks.
Smart TV, central heating & air conditioning, side deck with seating, bonus sunroom/ meditation/yoga/work space!
Central location - minutes to Woodstock, Rheinbeck, Kingston, Saugerties, hikes, supermarkets, great restaurants, shopping & more !
River Song was originally built back in 1930, as a fisherman's cottage. We're NYC photographers and fell in love with the house & property the first time we saw it. We decided to expand & renovate the house, as our vacation getaway. We had a curated, chill, Zen- meets- rock'n'roll vibe in mind. We hope you like it !
Original music photography & 1950's movie posters decorate the walls - a nod to the rich musical and artistic heritage of the Hudson Valley.
Most of the house in on one level, including Living room, Kitchen, Dining area, 3 of the bedrooms, & the 2 bathrooms plus a sunroom room with designer lounge chairs and a desk & chair, if you need to work.
THE BEDROOMS
#1 The Primary Bedroom has a luxury KING size bed, double closet, 2 nightstands dresser & TV
#2 QUEEN size bed with large closet, dresser & 2 nightstands
#3 FULL size bed with large closet & 2 nightstands
#4 & #5 Upstairs up a fairly steep set of stairs , there are 2 small bedrooms - both have moveable screen doors. One has an original 1930 built-in single wooden bed, the other has two single beds, nightstands & river views.
Outside there's a back deck with built-in seating & chairs for morning coffee , plus a table & chairs for alfresco dining & a gas BBQ Grill. The gently sloping yard goes down past a boathouse shed ( not in use), to a waterfront patio area with 10 seater outdoor table, multiple Adirondack chairs, a separate fire pit area and your very own dock / deck directly on the water !
Things to Note:
- No smoking anywhere on the property.
- No parties, events or large gatherings are allowed. Only the number of people on your booking are permitted on the property.
- There is off street parking on the driveway and free street parking too.
- The old wood stove in the living area is non-working, do not attempt to light it.
- The front of the property has a small one bed apartment with its own entrance, which is rented separately and not included. You may see another car on the driveway.
- There is a large heated/air conditioned artist/photography/yoga studio at the front of the property. This has its own entrance and can be added to your reservation. If interested please inquire for more info / rates.
People with children or mobility issues please note that this is a waterfront property and is bordered on one side by the Esopus Creek, with a sloping yard down to the banks of the Creek & deck/dock open to the water. At the front of the house, on the other side of the street, there's a train track with a slow-moving freight train that will trundle past, on no fixed schedule, from time to time. It's not especially loud (some folks say they love the sound... but be aware if you think that would bother you! )
River Song House is a magical spot to gather, relax & unwind...or just sit by the beautiful Esopus Creek and watch life float by !

About the host
Hosted by Rupert & Kellie
I’m originally from England and my partner Kellie is from New England ! We are both professional photographers. When we’re not traveling for shoots , we split our time between NYC, Nyack NY and the Saugerties area - never far from The Hudson River !
We like to travel whenever we can & experience new places and I have visited over 40 countries around the World.
We love this area & we’re so happy we get the opportunity to offer our home to visitors. It's such a great area- full of history & beauty - and a great place to base yourself when exploring the Hudson Valley

Why they chose this property
We love the waterfront location of River Song House and being able to watch the Seasons change and the wildlife float by !
We wanted somewhere large enough to host groups and have a big dining table - so having 4 /5 bedrooms plus the open mudroom is perfect. There's enough rooms and space to do meditation, yoga & a work area too.
The location is amazing - with supermarkets & stores only 5 minutes away - yet still surrounded by great nature hikes and trails. Plus Saugerties, Rhinebeck, Woodstock and Kingston are all less than a 20 minute drive away.

What makes this property unique
Being on a little slope is great - which gives us a great view of the Esopus Creek... and no chance of flooding. We love that the original house was built in 1930, making it almost 100 years old. We preserved the original wood floors and built-ins, which really adds to the cool, nautical feel of the house. The wall of windows overlooking the water is fabulous all year round too !
