Lakeside Winter Wonderland/ Ski House by Sugarloaf
Escape to a handcrafted, eco-friendly lakeside retreat. Set on 8.27 private acres, this unique cabin offers direct access to a 194-acre lake, 470 feet of waterfront, and trails through lush woods. Enjoy snowmobiling, ice-fishing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing right outside your door. Relax by the lake, explore the orchard, or soak in panoramic forest views from every room. Just 50 minutes to Sugarloaf for downhill skiing, this peaceful haven blends rustic charm with sustainable living.
THE SPACE: Welcome to Peaceful Living - tucked away on 8.27 lush acres along the expansive Fahi Pond encompassing 194 acres this unique property has 470 feet of private waterfront, ensuring unparalleled privacy and direct access to nature. Constructed in 2004, this architectural masterpiece marries bespoke craftsmanship with a deep commitment to sustainable living. Having thrived as an energy-independent home for over 15 years, it features a 3 KW photovoltaic array, a 1 KW wind turbine, and a robust 20 KWH battery bank, promoting a minimal environmental footprint. For your comfort, the home is now connected to the grid as backup and features fiber optic internet and radiant heat. The exterior is cleverly designed to merge with the surrounding woods, purposefully resembling a modest hunting camp, yet inside lies a residence of luxurious detail. Enter to discover a sprawling kitchen that exudes warmth and hospitality. The living room, enclosed in glass, bathes the interior with natural light and provides serene, seasonal views. Upstairs, a versatile loft and master bedroom with an en-suite bath offer a secluded retreat. The walk-out basement includes two additional bedrooms, a kitchenette, and a full bath, ideal for guests or a multigenerational living arrangement. Outdoor life here is as rich as the indoor, with a private dock for swimming, kayaking, or fishing, and an orchard that beckons you to connect with the earth.
We built our cabin with our own hands, using reclaimed and sustainable materials. It is rustic and a work in progress, but filled with love and a very calm, peaceful energy. We hope you will appreciate our commitment to solar and wind, composting, and other earth-friendly aspects.
ACCESS: You will have the entire property to yourself. You will also have private access to outdoor spaces including an open yard, lakefront, and 10 acres of wooded trails.
THINGS TO NOTE: Rural Maine on a private, gravel road. 4WD is essential for winter access.
Please leave the house and property as you found it—dishes washed, rooms tidied, etc.
With the exception of linens washed and replaced, and fresh flowers, thank you for leaving it ready for the next guest.
Pre-approved pets allowed in common rooms and upstairs bedroom. Thank you for ensuring that pets NEVER enter basement bedrooms!! These must be kept 100% free of dander for family and friends who are highly allergic.
