Determined to enjoy our vacation
I will talk about the host and the property in sequence.
Our host was unkind and unfriendly--not concerned with our comfort or experience. She was defensive when we brought issues to her attention and asked questions about the additional fees.
Two weeks prior to our reservation, I inquired what the additional fees were towards. In response to my queries, the host threatened to cancel our reservation.
The check-in was great, no issues. The cottage is cute and well-furnished. However, we noticed upon walking in that the handle to the oven door was lying on the counter. Immediately, I sent a photo to the host--and I was astounded to hear from her that they would fix it after we left. We did not have the use of the oven, and could not have the meals that we had planned and shopped for.
The beds are good and the kitchen is well-equipped.
The location is great, close to the beach and on a quiet street--no traffic noise.
There are lots of flies inside the house (I counted 12 at one time). I bought a fly-trap for the inside. Also there is zero privacy if you open the blinds, most of the windows look out on the street (except for the side porch). The blinds must remain closed -- making it dark inside during the day.
An important issue for future renters: be sure to bring your toilet paper!
