Do Not Hesitate to Contact Property Manager or Maintenance with concerns!!!
Our family of 15 stayed at this house for four days. The location is wonderful with the metro, supermarket, restaurants just a couple of blocks away. We made sure our cars were locked with no valuables and had no problems finding a parking spot close by. As other reviews said, the house is old and quirky. It was enjoyable to find all the different areas of the three floors we rented. It was clean enough and the large conference table was very nice for our whole family to enjoy our evening meals together. It was fairly hot in DC when we were there and as can be expected, the A/C worked great on the first floor, good on the 2nd floor and ok on the third floor. It was nice to have 3 kitchen areas but to prepare meals for a large group would be a challenge as the kitchens are adequate, but small.
HOWEVER, there were several negatives that I feel I need to point out. The main problem is that there are signs all over the house…….ie. “turn off lights” “do not move furniture” etc. There was also a sign on the 3rd floor bathroom…”Do Not Use Bathroom” and a door between front and back areas on 2nd floor ….”Do Not Open Door” So our family had the use of only 3 bathrooms instead of 4 as advertised. And one bathroom’s shower did not work. Also, two washer/dryer combos did not have directions on how to use and we all had to use the single dryer on the third floor. When we returned home, I contacted the property manager and she said I should have called because the bathroom with the sign was “off limits” to those who were not on the 3rd floor and the door between areas on the 2nd floor could have been opened. How were we to know that? Our family was very conscientious about following the rules and never thought to call to question a sign clearly stating “Do Not Use”.
My advice to anyone who rents this house is to COMMUNICATE and call/text the property manager and the maintenance persons if there is something that does not meet your expectations when you arrive. Don’t hesitate to express your concerns at that time and do not wait until after you have returned home!
