This home is beautiful and charming. We had a group of 23 use this house. The house had a large table for us to share meals, we had our own bathrooms and the bus stop was right across the street. Everything was well stocked. This home was lovely!!
Fantastic experience, host was very accommodating. House is close to a main busing route and easy access to downtown. Highly recommended.

So glad you and your family enjoyed the House, Corin!
As far as your family feeling uncomfortable, wow, did not get that feeling at all. I had some really nice chats with your Dad and other members of your family. I do sincerely apologize if anyone felt uncomfortable, but allow me to explain my visits.
The first time I came by was your first day there and I saw your dad on the porch so I stopped by to say hello and to tell him a few things about the house and getting around town. We spoke outside mostly and then went inside for a quick tour of the kitchen, i.e., where trash goes, coffee maker, etc. Most everyone was gone. I was there no more than 15 minutes.
The second visit was when your Mom contacted me about a repair. That same day the repair person came out and I was there to meet her. While she was working, I was speaking to your cousin Clay -- we had some things in common -- and then other family members approached me about showing them the Cottage, since you all didn't lease that, and about five of us had a nice tour of the cottage. Again, I didn't get the sense that anyone was uncomfortable. The visit with the repair person and your family was all of a half hour. It was a quick repair.
The third time I stopped by was a couple of days later. I drove by once and I saw that the double front doors were open. I didn't stop but when I drove by again about 10 minutes later and they were still open, I thought it was necessary to stop and make sure that all was okay. At that time one of your family member had a question about the freezer and I went to the kitchen. Gosh, that visit was about 10 minutes.
We totally respect groups' privacy, but if there is something that needs repair and you all have requested the repair, sometimes we can send a repair person in alone if we have worked with them before, but if we haven't, we always like to accompany them. Also we do like to meet you and let you know some things about the house and getting around. We are not always able to do that, but some guests I may speak to for months via email and it's great to finally meet them face to face. And, of course, if we drive by and consistently see the two front doors open, we will check on you. Bu please accept my apologies for any discomfort anyone felt.
But I'm glad you all had a great time in the House. You all mentioned that you would love to come back soon. That would be awesome! Take care and thank you for your business.
We had plans change at the last minute and Teddy was extremely responsive and willing to accommodate our group at the last minute. Very helpful and pleasant. We enjoyed our stay at the Uptown House!
Our first plan was to house 21 in this home for our son's wedding weekend which could've accommodated us nicely, but because of all the Covid regulations some of our group decided against joining us so we ended up with 11. The house is huge. We were able to spread out and feel comfy. The kitchen is fabulous and stocked with everything you can imagine. The cottage was the perfect place for our wedding couple to escape to. The outdoor area was lovely as we were able to spread out there for meals. The beds were comfy which to me is one of the most important parts because who wants a bad night's sleep? I couldn't have asked for a better situation. Teddy was so flexible and allowed us to bring a few things ahead of time. She even decorated the house for Christmas which made everyone feel at home. If you are planning to be in the DC area with a large group this is the house for you!
My extended family rented the entire house and cottage house for a family wedding. There was plenty of space, and everyone loved the charm of the house. Teddy and her husband David were wonderful to work with, and were quick to respond with any questions. The only (very minor and not a deal breaker) down-side is the house is a solid 15-20 minute drive from the mall area. Again - not a deal breaker because it was easy to Uber everywhere, but it's definitely not a location from which you can walk to the sites. If you have a big group, needing a bunch of rooms I would highly recommend.
This property was perfect accommodations for our large group during our 40th annual reunion of 9 couples who have traveled together since college. The large old house has private comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms for each couple. The house has multiple large gathering areas and a spacious, well equipped kitchen. Our group appreciated the "old home" feel of this house with hardwood floors, antiques, and interesting artwork. The host team was responsive to our questions.
Wow, what an incredible mansion! Our family booked this for an anniversary celebration/family reunion over a long weekend and it was perfect. We loved being able to stay all together and have lots of common areas to hang out together and socialize between the more structured things we had planned (we would not have been able to do this as easily at a hotel). The house itself is amazing. Everyone was very comfortable in their rooms (and happy with the number of bathrooms). The paintings are very noteworthy as well. The back patio is gorgeous - it would be lovely for a small wedding, and we took some photos out there. We also saw lots of lightning bugs at night, which was a big hit.
We stayed there with a toddler and young child - they luckily had a high chair and pack and play we could use. The house isn't terribly baby-proof, but we had lots of adults around to keep an eye on things. The kids loved playing on the carpeted stairs going to the upper floors, hanging out on the window seat, and looking up at the large chandeliers.
Terry was incredibly responsive and helpful - I recommend reaching out if you have any hesitations at all!

Incredible atay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Uptown House! It was exactly what we were seeking... large enough for us all to be together (total 24) yet it also accommodated many “small group” gatherings in varying quaint and warm/welcoming locations throughout the house! Teddy was amazing as well!!

What a great place to hang out
Our family of 26 were in DC for a service at Arlington National Cemetery and stayed at this home. It was perfect. We had ages from a 1 year old to a 71 year old and could not have had a better visit. Parking was not a problem and we had 6 cars. We never felt cramped but were able to spend time together eating at the large dining table and enjoying each other. Everyone was so thrilled to be able to stay under one roof and reconnect. We would all happily stay here again. Teddy could not have been more accommodating for my various requests. Thank you for such a lovely place to stay. Janet

Amazing Stay
My family traveled to DC for my father in law's memorial service at Arlington National Cemetery and Teddy helped make our experience so memorable. From the first part of the reservation process she helped guide me and was very responsive.
The Uptown House was the perfect venue for our family of 24. It is spacious, well appointed and in a great location. My family and I would highly recommend this property and can't say enough about Teddy! Truly an exceptional experience!

We all loved the house and all the interesting styles and decor. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was amazing with all the restaurant-quality appliances. There was plenty of room for our guests and we were able to enjoy ourselves! We also liked that the attractions in Washington DC were easy to get to. Beautiful, cozy and charming
I used this home for a corporate retreat. Large dining space indoors and outdoors was perfect for our group size. Was impressed at the amount of bedrooms with their own private bathroom tucked in this nice neighborhood. Was a nice change from meeting in a hotel. Within walking distance to Rock Creek Park.

Great experience!!!!!
We booked this place after we were informed that our other house we booked was overbooked. Terrie was wonderful to work with. Her house is stunning and has everything you need. We had 14 people for a 40th birthday party weekend and the house was perfect! Book this house you will not regret it!

NostalgicFamily Memories
Beautiful, historic home! Great, large gathering spaces to facilitate interaction, eating, & games. Comfortable beds.
Marvelous hospitality!!! Teddy had a 4' balloon column setup on the porch for the 4th of July and a huge, patriotic yard pinwheel. Friendly maintenance guys came by daily for trash and to check with us for needs.
We had 15 adults and 2 children spanning three generations of family. Used 9 of the rooms. Space for everyone to sit at the table to eat together was precious. Memorable moments!!!

Perfect House For Family Reunion in DC
The Uptown House was absolutely perfect for our family reunion in May. We had 20 people of various ages ranging from 1 to 70 and everyone was happy & comfortable the entire week. There was plenty of room to gather or to have quiet space, though we mostly gathered. All of the bedrooms were roomy, comfortable and well furnished. The only issue anybody had was that the two bedrooms in the basement were noisier in the morning due to the adjacent kitchen being heavily used, so those bedrooms might be best for heavy sleepers or early risers Also, the ceiling in the kitchen is low, so tall people need to be careful (we had two people around 6'3" and they needed to stoop under the beams). The kitchen itself was extremely well equipped; there was nothing we needed to bring except food. We did a lot of cooking at home including grilling, and all went without any trouble. When we didn't want to cook, there were several good restaurants within a 10 minute walk. Grocery stores are close by, but not really in walking distance. I was concerned about parking as we had six vehicles, but it was never a problem. We were usually able to use at least three of the spaces in front of the house while there was always ample space across the street for the others. All of these spaces are free. The neighborhood is a nice residential area that is quiet and feels very safe to walk around. The 14th Street bus lines were wonderful. The southbound stop was right across the street and the northbound just a couple of buildings down from the house. We used them every day to get to and from the National Mall. It is about a 40 minute ride on average and no transfers are needed unless somebody wants to take the Metro. The buses come by the house every five minutes or so during the day and cost $2.00 per person. We never got to meet Teddy in person, but I spoke with her on the phone several times. She was always really nice, easy to reach and very helpful with any questions we had. The caretaker, Mario, was absolutely fantastic. Besides taking care of everything around the house, he was patient with our endless questions about the buses and Metro lines, local stores and restaurants, and the DC area in general. He was as much concierge as caretaker, and though he probably answered the same questions every time new people came to the house he was always very happy to help us. All of my family loved our stay and highly recommend the Uptown House.

One in a Million
9 of us came DC for a college reunion, and the house surprised us in many ways. It was just gorgeous! and provided a welcoming, warm sophisticated home for renewing friendships. The kitchen was huge, with up to date appliance; bedrooms and baths simply perfect; long beautiful dining table; and Teddy, could not have been more accommodating.
All of us highly recommend this lovely home. It is a rare gem.

The Uptown House was a perfect destination for our work group of 9. We had plenty of space in a beautifully appointed historic DC house on upper 14th Street NW. Would absolutley stay here again!
