We wish we would have picked another place for our stay. While communication with the host was good, there were several issues that negatively impacted our experience.The biggest issue was the gravel road leading to the house. There was so much water on the road that a significant portion was difficult to pass. We felt a truck was necessary to get through safely but did have to change our plans for an evening due to this.There were also several issues with the condition and cleanliness of the house:*The house was dusty in multiple areas. Although it appeared to have been wiped down, the corners seem to hold the dust/dirt from that. *We had to wash the pans before using them because they were greasy.*There was no wood provided for the advertised fire pit.*The bed was not fully made, and we had to put the fitted sheet on ourselves.*The shower pressure was not great, and the shower door leaked, resulting in water all over the bathroom floor.*The listing advertised another room, but that room was actually located above the garage, disconnected from the main house, which was not what we expected from the listing.*Several shelves, the fireplace, and the TVs were noticeably crooked.On the positive side, communication was good, we appreciated the security, and the view was nice.Overall, there were too many issues for us to feel the stay was worth what we paid, and we would choose a different property if we were to visit the area again.

A good weekend

I don’t want to seem overly critical or petty, but there wasn’t a table to sit at to eat. Granted it is a small lake cottage.

Okay

Not enough parking for two vehicles, especially when we woke up to find a work truck and people working on the garage (which has the loft space above it). We were told they would be there four or five hours, blocking the only driveway into the property. On a dead end, which is fine, but the area is so overgrown, it looks like you’re not in the right spot when you get there. Uneven floors throughout, no AC in the loft space above the detached garage, and no window screen in one window up there - that was an issue with being in a boggy area near a lake, many bugs outside. Shower leaks not due to neglect, but poor design, and leaks a lot. Wet towels were left on the living room chair at check in. You can’t open the door all the way to get into the utility room, you have to walk in and close the door the access the washer/dryer. I’m not afraid of ants, but a heads up that they were pretty infested would have been nice. No mirror low enough for my 4’6” kid to see herself in. There had been a lot of rain before we came, so the yard was pretty muddy therefore we didn’t use any of the outdoor space. At times the door wouldn’t lock because the latch wouldn’t shut all the way. All towels had to be used to mop up the shower leaks. No checkout instructions were provided even after asking for them.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the work being done on the garage during your stay. This was part of a scheduled improvement project meant to be completed between guest visits, and we're sorry it overlapped with your time here. We understand how frustrating that must have been, especially with limited parking access, and we're adjusting our scheduling to prevent this in the future. As for the ants and bugs — the property is in a natural setting near the lake, and while we do regular pest control, we understand more notice about the environment could have helped set expectations. We’ll make sure to include this information more clearly in the listing.

Location is right on a lake. It's a beautiful little house. The only thing that wasn't clear is that the third bedroom is above the garage and not atrached to the main house. It worked perfectly for our family reunion and was super convenient for us! Would definitely stay again. Great price and worked well for our family with small kids.

It just fit our needs. Great communication! It was surprisingly quiet for being on a busy road. Getting out of the driveway was a challenge due to the traffic and another car from another party being parked in the turn around spot. I may have missed in the listing that it was an apartment. It could have used a few more spoons.
