Quiet 4 bedroom (1,600 sq ft) home on a wooded 1/2 acre lot on the Eno River. Yard is beautifully landscaped and bumps up to wooded parkland with deer roaming freely. Pond and waterfall will lull you into peaceful relaxation. Large deck area for relaxing, grilling out and gathering. Back deck includes a screened in porch that also opens off the master bed room. You can relax in the hammock, on the deck, or roam freely through the woods and hike the trails along the Eno. Or on a hot summer days take a short walk to a great swimming hole. House includes a master bed and bath with king bed. There are two additional rooms with queen beds and a furnished room above the garage with bunk beds and a reading nook for the kids. The large TV in the living room in addition to two bedroom TV's come with 70+ cable stations as well as Roku on which you can sign into your own Netflix, Hulu or amazon accounts. High speed WiFi is also available.

So whether you are here to visit a student, attend a ball game, or for medical reasons this location is convenient for you. House is located 7 miles from Duke campus and hospital and 17 miles from Chapel Hill.

Well behaved and friendly dogs are welcome. We do ask for a pet deposit and that you keep them off furniture.

Very cute setting, back deck and back yard were very charming, spent a lot of time out there. Biggest concern was overwhelming musty/moldy smell, very prominent in bedroom above garage.

Eno river experience

Tranquil backyard and neighborhood with great trail hiking along the Eno River. Lu was a great property owner and very attentive to any communications.

Lovely place with such a fantastic backyard!!

We stayed here instead of a hotel for a college graduation and that turned out to be the best decision!! What a terrific time we had! The house was so cozy and perfect for us. It had everything we could need. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. The backyard is truly wonderful. The pergola with lights, the running brook, the fire pit, and the woods leading to the Eno River were just what we needed to relax between events!! I would stay here again without question!

Quiet Location, Backs up to Eno River!

This is our second time staying. We booked an extended stay in September to catch the first three Duke Football home games. The home is comfortable, spacious, and well-equipped with an incredibly relaxing backyard featuring large patio areas, a beautiful pond, and fire pit. The home backs up to the Eno River State Park where we spent many hours with our dog Bentley enjoying the Eno River - just 1/2 mile walk away. We are returning in November for another extended stay for Duke Football. Don’t pass this up!

Great property!

This was a really great find for our stay in Durham! The property was beautiful and in a nice quiet neighborhood. We left bed the back deck and porch area and spent most of our evenings back there. The home was really spacious and comfortable which allowed our large family to spread out and have some space. There were a couple of things worth noting which other reviewers have brought up as well. First, the floors in the house were creaky especially in the master bedroom. It's just the age of the home but I would recommend bringing earplugs since it could be heard throughout the first floor. Also, the kitchen was really nice but lacked enough glasses and dishes for our crew. They probably just got broken and tossed over the years so a dish/glass/silverware refresh should be considered.Overall this property was excellent and I would highly recommend it!

A perfect home setting for a wedding weekend

We found the house perfect for our needs as a place for family members (extended family meeting for a Family wedding) to sleep, gather, and re-acquaint in a quiet neighborhood. Great wildlife viewing, walking in adjoining state park lands with river/ravine/trails; easy access to nearby groceries and various take out options. Host was gracious, accessible, but not obtrusive in any way. Lots of outdoor and indoor spaces for conversation and eating with well-stocked kitchen and dining area. No complaints at all! We say many deer pass through back yard, several owls in action in forest, many ducks and great blue heron…

Perfect!

Great house, magnificent backyard. Came up for sons wedding in Durham with 90 year old aunt, 82 year old mother, husband and dog. Great ranch, easy for older relatives. Clean, stocked, very comfortable beds. Backyard and patio fantastic, backs up to State Park, all wooded, dog loved it!!! Had family over for lunch and backyard was great..plenty of seating. Out rest of weekend so didn't use hot tub or other amenities. It was great for us. Loved the deer and Scooter the neighborhood cat visiting us (outdoors). i would rent again..

Perfect for Graduation Weekend

This was an excellent property. We truly enjoyed our stay, as it was the perfect size, comfortable, well, equipped, and has easy access to Duke University. My family and parents were all able to stay and enjoy the weekend while my daughter graduated from Duke University. The property was conducive to time for relaxing and enjoying each other’s company. Beautiful backyard, plenty of room for six adults to be comfortable. We were even able to host a barbecue one night with other family that came into town. I would certainly recommend this property to others, including Duke families for Duke university, events, such as move-in and graduation. We were able to book well in advance and communication with the property owner was superb. The house was very clean and had plenty of household supplies such as cleaning items, kitchen, items, towels, and linens.

We didn't want to leave

We were coming town to see friends and wanted to find a place to stay close. We really couldn't have gotten closer as they lived right around the corner on Kinlock. The house was perfect for the visit to allow us to have our friends over. Our daughters were able to hang out in the bunk bed room over the garage. The adults were able to have beer and pizza on the patio on a perfectly lovely night The screened in patio made for a perfect space to sit and chat and catch up. The house was well equipped for everything we needed. It was clean and well appointed. But the best part truly is the back porch, patio, deck and surrounding area. My son, who is not outdoorsy, spent so much time exploring. My daughter and her friend swung in the hammock, giggling and catching up. And even our dogs, who don't typically travel with us, loved the screened in patio to catch some rays and a puppy nap or two. It was incredibly ideal and we can't wait to come back when we can enjoy some fall colors. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.

Three generations of family members came to Durham for a weekend of kayaking, paddling our 16th WNC lake in 2 years. We could not have found a more perfect place to stay! My adult grandson had to cancel out but he would have loved the room above the garage as his own special little nook! The home was neat and tidy, warm and cozy. The ideal spot to tuck in at the end of our day. I could see myself loving this home as the perfect, quiet spot to retire! My little dog enjoyed our morning and evening walks down to the Eno River along the Mountain-to-Sea Trail. Each morning we were greeted by 2 does and a group of triplet fawns. We have stayed at many VRBO rentals over the years. This, we believe, was one of our top 3!! Our last day of kayaking was rained out. We plan to return to the Durham area next spring to float the waters of more lakes in the area and stay here again!

Our favorite pre-vacation

Our family gathers in Durham for several days to see old friends before we leave for the beach. This is our absolute favorite place to spend these days. The beautiful inside and outside areas are all so lovely, and occasionally some have made the trek down to the Eno River. This year is perhaps the 5th time we have stayed here!

Great place

Quiet neighborhood. We went to the Life and Science Museum and it was the perfect location. Great for kids and infants. Nothing laying around that was breakable for the baby to grab. The host was helpful. Porch was really peaceful.

Everything was great. Less than 1/4 mile hike to the Eno trail and we had a lovely staycation with some quality relaxing time. Would definitely recommend this stay. Location is absolutely perfect!

House near Eno River trails

This is a lovely and spacious house. We loved being within a block of hiking trails which was great for exercise with our dog. The house was well supplied with everything needed. The wooded back yard is exceptional with a lovely deck, screen porch, pond and private walking trail. Very quiet and we slept very well. Wood floors in bedroom area creak loudly. Front steps are steep and hard to navigate when carrying things in and out.

Family and friends reunion

Homey home that backs up to the Eco River. Hiking along the river was a favorite activity along with hanging out in the beautiful backyard. It was the perfect place for a family reunion!

Charming cottage like out of a fairy tale!

Lu’s place is probably my favorite VRBO I’ve stayed in. The home is comfortable and cozy and she has thought of every detail you could think of. Cooking there for my family of 6 was a breeze as she had every tool, seasoning and appliance that you could possibly want and a dining table large enough for all of us. The house backs up to a state park with so much breathtaking wildlife. We must have seen 15 deer while drinking our coffee on the patio. There’s also access to trails along the river throughout the park. The master bedroom had the perfect bed. The perfect softness with plush pillows and warm blankets and it’s huge. We got the pleasure of meeting Lu during our stay and she was a lovely, genuine and warm person. We loved Scooter, the friendly neighborhood cat that would greet us each morning. The neighborhood is super safe and close to everything you need while somehow also feeling private and like you’re in.the middle of a forest. Our younger two kids felt very cool and independent staying in the garage apartment and I loved that it’s accessible from the inside of the main part of the house so that I could still supervise them. We also enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings and found the patio area to be just as comfortable as the inside of the house. I already want to come back!
