Large comfortable house near the slopes
The large common room and multiple living spaces make this a great house for large groups. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking with enough plates, glasses etc for a crowd. Decor is comfortable and attractive.
We had a wonderful stay near peak 8! Plenty of beds and baths and family room/kitchen space!! You cannot beat this for big groups/families! Thank you Olga for all the wonderful amenities and the relaxing hot tub! We ALL had a fabulous time!
Awesome house. Would definitely rent again. *ski in in was a hair difficult but still worked. Also the might want to let the cleaners know to clean off the cover for the hot tub. It was piled up really high and difficult to get off. But otherwise house was amazing.
The house is in a fabulous location, short walk to gondolas and Base Camp 8. This is important with young children. We had plenty of sleeping space and the kitchen is well equipped. There does need to be a dresser in every bedroom. (The desk in the front BR is unnecessary) loved having a side yard for the children as well.
We would definitely return to this house!

Great location. Ample parking. Kitchen well stocked for daily cooking but a bit small. Easy communication with manager. Nice that each family had their own bathroom.

Nice location
The house is at a great location. You can literally ski off the run into the backyard jacuzzi area. We had a great time at the cabin but it definitely needs updating. The dishwasher was falling off the wall and the owner had to come by twice to fix the electronic door lock and fuse box. I would recommend this house if you are a party of 8-9 but not 13. It was a little crammed for all us . Overall it was a nice place

Guy's ski trip
This house was advertised well and completely met our expectations. We had 8 guys who came up for skiing. The house was incredibly spacious and clean. We were 5 min walk to the Peak 8 base and a couple mins from skiing right in. Everything worked well and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Choose this house of you are looking for a house outside of downtown and close to the slopes.

Great Location Very Close To The Slopes Home Could Use Improvements
You can't get any closer to the slopes in this home! The home could use some repairs and updates especially in the kitchen area. Great outdoor hot tub. Different layout. You walk into bedrooms and a living area. The kitchen is upstairs. Steep stairs not for people who have disabilities. Bedrooms have baseboard heating which I feel would be dangerous for small children. Two nice fireplace living areas. Much smaller than we expected for the price.

Perfect Family Weekend
Our large family -- we have 5 kids -- had a perfect early spring weekend at Wildhaus. The space and location were perfect for us. We all had space for sleeping, reading and relaxing and the walk to ski Breck each day was easy and hassle free. The family that owns this lovely property was attentive and gracious and the property was clean and comfortable. We will return or a another list!

Nice rustic decor and very close to the slopes.
We stayed with a group of 7 other adults for a great week of skiing. Conditions were good and we got 10
inches of snow while we were there. The house was in good condition with a fully equipped kitchen and cozy fireplace by the
main gathering area. Although the
bedding could have been better (a bit worn out) the bedrooms were decent and the place was clean and generally well maintained. The hot tub was perfect after a day of skiing and the neighborhood was lovely and very convenient. We wouldn't call this a ski in/ski out property. You can very easily walk to the Peak 8 lift and you can ski back through a narrow trail if you can find it. Not easy after a fresh snow. As far as altitude, be prepared if you normally live at sea level. The house is located at nearly 10,000 feet and you feel it. Don't hesitate to bring medication with you after checking with your doctor. It can make a big difference. Altitude sickness can become serious and no one wants their trip to be cut short in a wonderful location like this.

Thank you for your thoughtful review! Thank you also for advising future guests of the altitude, which literally can be breathtaking! Please come again, Breckenridge and Peak 8 with its trails and scenic chairlift rides is magical in the summer, too, and altitude doesn't make itself felt that strongly in warmer weather.

Superb location, great chalet to spend time with family and friends
We had a great family ski vacation in this truly fabulous cabin! Loved the decor of the house, enjoyed the two wood-burning fireplaces after coming home (the season was a really good one). Our group agreed that the house was as advertised (if not better), and communication with owners smooth. Even though it is a little walk to the slopes, we didn't see many properties that are much closer to the mountain than this one, and also not at this price. After an exhausting day, at least, we could ski back in. We are already planning our 2015 trip and will be back!

Gorgeous Chalet in top location
Our stay at Chalet Waldhaus was spectacular. The floorplan is generously laid out and the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed, and much more. The feel of the decor is indeed very European! We rented mountain bikes down the road at the base of Peak 8. Trails to hike and bike start literally behind the house and go both, high up the mountain, and also into town. Taking the mountain bike up on a chairlift is a bit pricey but well worth the altitude you gain and the beautiful views, and of course the fun ride down! We loved the hot tub and the sunny patio with the colorful chairs. The proximity to the resort must be fantastic during ski season in particular - we will be back for a week of skiing in the Spring!

Sweet set up!
What a fantastic place! My friends and I arrived to Waldhaus and were pleasantly surprised at the amount of space. Both upstairs and downstairs had great amenities. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean, neat, and private. The hot tub atmosphere was perfect for relaxing after a day on the hill. The kitchen was well equipped. And the garage made it easy to store equipment. Skiing in for skiers was no problem, but a little tricky on a snowboard. The Waldhaus is an "as advertised" property. The pictures are true to form and the details online ate accurate. The owners are great at communicating...Thank you Waldhaus!

Pleasant rustic ski destination
This house was convenient to the slopes, town, and warm and cozy with electric baseboard heaters and plenty of hot Water for those long après ski showers. Nice large hot tub with easy access. Simple furnishings along the 'antlers and bears' motif. Beds were comfy, covers were adequate. Could have used some more pillows.
Kitchen was missing some basics ( hot mitts, cookie sheets, 9x13 pans) but made up for it with a helpful spice cabinet and basic cooking supplies in the pantry cabinet. We added to these on our way out. Gas grill on the balcony. Could have used a couple more tv s and another game system. We had great weather, but I'd hate to have 10 people snowed in with just a Wii!
Overall things were as described Except that everybody's idea of ski- in is somewhat subjective. IMHO, if I have to take off my skis to Ski IN, then I'm not skiing IN !!
I felt that Waldhaus was fairly priced and well-appointed and I would return to stay again.

Exceeded Expectations
Very cozy comfortable accommodations and plenty of space to spread out. Would recommend a toboggan type sled if skiing and having to walk to slopes carrying all of your equipment. Also works well to tote kids in since the home is a bit of a walk to/from the base of peak 8. Did ski in to the property which was an adventure. Great location and the home offered more amenities than expected...wii play system, 2 living areas, towels for hot tub etc. The reason for 4 stars vs. 5 was that the hot tub was not working when we were there which was a bummer, and it is a little more of a walk to/from the slopes than expected, but overall a great home and location. Would recommend this home to others and stay again.

Unforgettable Christmas.
Superb and very spacious Chalet with all the necessary equipments and even more (especially for the kitchen). It's ideally located near the Peak 8 base area, Ski-in possible for moderately experienced.
The owners are very friendly and always ready to ensure a perfect stay. They even set up a Christmas tree for us.
We had an unforgettable christmas at Waldhaus.

Wonderful Breckenridge Home!
We really enjoyed our stay in this Peak 8 home. Adults & kids were completely comfortable and had plenty to keep them busy. The bedding was very comfortable - a definite plus! The hot tub was great, and the location was excellent - especially for the skiers in the group. the owners were great to work with - very attentive. Overall, a wonderful experience & we will be back!

About the host
Hosted by Kate
We are a family of six living and working in Boulder. We spend a lot of time in Europe. This chalet is managed by us and professionally run.
Why they chose this property
Peak 8 is Breckenridge's first ski development and gets snow first and keeps it the longest - allowing to ski-in the entire season. Whether you ski, hike or bike, you want to live right where the action is, not touch the car, and not haul any equipment. Hike and bike trails right behind the house make the chalet in summer a gem right in the beautiful nature and tranquil wilderness of the National Forest while being so close to everything. The family-friendly "Peak 8 Fun Park" is right there as well for those seeking park adventures! And the convenience of downtown Breckenridge is just a gondola ride away.
What makes this property unique
'Waldhaus' is extremely secluded right in the National Forest, offering a private hot-tub under the stars, yet a stone's throw away from the slopes, Vail Resort's #1 hotel in Breckenridge, the Gondola, and downtown. Ski-in, bike or hike from the hustle and bustle of the resort into total privacy and silence.
