About this property

Oceanfront at Sugar Beach Resort - #226

Our ocean front condo has unobstructed views of the ocean with the islands of Kahoolawe and Molokini in the distance. SBR#226 is in the middle of the second floor of Plantation Building at Sugar Beach. The Resort has large, free, off-street parking areas with easy access to condos via stairs or elevators.

The beach is just steps away from the condo. The lanai overlooks the beach - has a table with 2 chairs and a chaise lounge. The lanai is great place to enjoy a meal, relax and view awesome sunsets - and whale watch during whale season (usually December through March).

Condo sleeps a maximum of 2 people with a comfortable Cal-King bed. (No sleeper sofa.)

Our condo was remodeled in late 2018 - just before Hawaii was closed due to COVID. The kitchen now has granite counter tops, new cabinets, new range and new washer/dryer. All floor coverings were replaced with vinyl plank flooring throughout the condo. The bathroom has granite countertops, new cabinets and new lighting. We continually strive to have our condo in top-notch condition for our returning and first-time guests. The condo is decorated in a tropical, Hawaiian motif.

Our completely furnished condo includes: Central A/C, dishwasher, microwave; washer/dryer, free long-distance phone calls within the U.S. and Canada, free internet access; in-condo safe; cable TV in the living room and bedroom; Blu-ray DVD, stereo with CD and Bluetooth. Also included: all bedding, towels, dishes, glassware, cooking utensils, hair dryer, etc.

Sugar Beach Resort is located on the sunny south-central side of Maui and is about 25 minutes from the Kahului airport. The Resort has a large heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, a large covered cabana, indoor sauna, 6 gas barbecues with awesome ocean views while you BBQ, and a small putting green, Dina's sandwich shop is also on the property. Also on the property, is an excellent Activities Center (Maui Sights & Treasures) where you can book your Maui sight-seeing activities conveniently. Plus golf courses, restaurants, markets, shopping and sight-seeing are just minutes away.

Excellent apartment right on the water

This is an extremely well-maintained property that is in a typical older building right on the beach. The available space is very cleverly used and everything is labeled and in full working order. We loved hearing the wave crash and having to just step outside the property to walk on the beach go for a swim.

Just Loved It

The title says it all. Very clean ocean front condo directly facing the ocean. It's on the second floor so you will enjoy that people walking the beach aren't looking directly in. Comfortable Cal King bed. Everything is well labeled and easy to use. Excellent communication from the hosts, and they even sent recommended info on the area before the trip eliminating some of the pre-trip research. No joke that you can watch whales breaching in the distance from the lanai, I saw several. However, if you want to get close up of that action, there's several whale watching tours only 4 miles down the road. If you want miles of beach walking, this is the place. The hot tub and pool always seemed busy, and there are plenty of loungers around the pool and also on the lawn facing the ocean. Never had a problem finding a spot to relax. My only complaint, which has nothing to do with the condo itself, are the resorts BBQ grills. Though they are kept very clean, half of them wouldn't light. One day, none would light and we had to get a staff person to bring a long stem lighter to get one going. I would stay here again.

Great Maui Vacation

Turtle Beach Resort is in an ideal location with a calm, lovely beach and beautiful pool area. The unit itself was exactly as promised... providing very clean, comfortable accommodations and an absolutely beautiful view of the ocean. The owners were very helpful with suggestions about what to do and where to go and were an absolute pleasure to deal with.I would definitely stay there again and recommend it without hesitation.

Great home in paradise

We had an awesome stay at 226 Sugar Beach! Condo was clean, comfortable, had everything we needed plus more and was literally right on the ocean! We enjoyed breakfast every morning and ended our day sitting on the balcony listening to the waves crash! The bed was comfortable and there were many amenities to use that made the stay so wonderful. From a well stocked kitchen, a safe, starter supplies that were plentiful to beach supplies, we had everything we needed. Don’t hesitate to book this unit! You will have a fabulous time!

Lovely place to stay! We loved the balcony with a beach view and had breakfast every morning. The beach is a very short walk and great place to swim. The place was very clean and tidy, check in was easy. We will definitely stay again the next time we vacation in Maui.

Second floor balcony a stones throw from the ocean with beautiful views with all glass wall/slider/screen to open it up to the entire unit. A peaceful low traffic white sand beach in both directions for unlimited walking. A clean well equipped unit. Easy short 20 minute drive from airport. Location to Maui Ocean Center/Aquarium and ocean excursions 10 minute drive. Restaurants and shopping are not in walking distance but a 10 to 25 minute drive.

We had a wonderful stay! The condo was spotless on arrival and was stocked with everything you need to get settled. The bed is comfortable, there is a washer/drier and dishwasher, but the headline is THE VIEW! There is just nothing better than sitting on the balcony looking out over the beautiful blue ocean and listening to the sound of the waves (you can even spot some whales). If you can tear yourself away from the view, the location is perfect for exploring. Sugar Beach is right outside your window, Kihei is a 10 min drive away as is Maalaea harbor (many boat trips leave from here), and you are close to several beaches. Safeway and other shops are nearby. Check in/out was a breeze, and the hosts reached outa couple of times by text to check that everything was going well. 100% recommend this place if you want the ocean view and beachside location!

This accommodation is wonderful. Very clean, plenty of amenities, very comfortable, nice air conditioning. Incredible ocean/coastal view. Most of all, we appreciated that the unit is located right on a desirable section of beach. It is also very well-located relative to all of the fun things to do when exploring the island; other coastal towns seem to be further away from many of the island’s main day trips/hikes/destinations.

Oceanfront Paradise

Sugar Beach 226 is lovely, and we would happily stay there again! The space is well-appointed, beautiful and comfortable, and the lanai is wonderful for watching the crashing waves and the sunset. It’s within 15 minutes of all the shops and restaurants in Kihei as well. Communication with the owners was excellent and any minor issues were handled in very quick fashion. We highly recommend 226!

Great Condo

This condo is very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked, which made cooking some meals in pleasant. The condo/Lanai has an excellent ocean view and there is a nice beach right in front of the unit. Barbara was very easy to communicate with and answered any questions promptly, including restaurant and activity recommendations on the island. We plan to stay here again!

Best stay ever.

I've been to Sugar Beach Resort several times over the years. My favorite place to stay. This unit beats them all. Beautifully appointed. Clean and had everything you needed and more. The hosts are so organized and getting around and knowing what to do and how things worked was great. They were very communicative as well. Always prompt with answering queries. We went at the same time as the horrible fires in Lahaina and the upcountry. A dear friend was barely able to escape with her 2 kids and her car. She lost everything. We were so happy to be there to help her. A coincidental miracle for sure. Thanks for providing us a welcoming place to stay.

Our Sugar Beach condo is not "just a rental" - it's our second home. Our permanent home is in the mountains of Arizona in the Old West town of Prescott. We are original Sugar Beach Resort owners (1977), and we love spending as much time there as we can. We love sitting on the lanai at breakfast and at sunset. During the day we are always outside enjoying the water, sun and walks on the beach. We can't seem to get enough of being there - even after 42+ years!

Why they chose this property

While visiting Maui with our two young daughters years ago, we saw Sugar Beach Resort before it was completed. We toured the facility, loved the beach, the amazing views and realized that this would be a great vacation home for us. The rest is history! SBR 226 has been our home-away-from-home for many years now and we are always eager to return to it.

Spectacular beach/ocean views and sunsets from our direct oceanfront condo. Keyless electronic door lock (no keys to lose or carry!). Just steps away from the beach. Whale watch from condo's lanai during season - generally December through March.
