Not like in pictures

The house is very old, not repaired for a long time, there is air conditioning only on the first floor, it is very hot on the 2nd and 3rd floors, only ventilators, but this will not help. The yard is not cleaned, the front door is overgrown with thickets and cannot be used. Only the pool is good and the rest is not worth the price.

House was dirty and lacking many things we have usually found in a VBRO

We rented this house for our annual family reunion w/4 of my grown children and their children. Upon entering, we thought the cleaning crew had left in the middle of their job; the floors had debris and long black animal hair everywhere. Some of the dishes on the shelves had food still on them and had to be rewashed . There were huge black cobwebs the entire length of the pinic/grill/ hot rub area that took me an hour to clean before we could feel safe eating out there . Most of the windows / sills/ had dirt and dead bugs all around; the windows had obviously not been cleaned for months. Aside from the conditions , other problems were lack of good cooking utensils and generally nothing “extra” / not even paper towels / in the kitchen . The coffee pot there didnt work so we had to buy another one for our stay. The downstairs area is spacious , but 3 of the “bedrooms” upstairs are so narrow only the bed will fit; there were no bedside tables and the only lights were 4-foot long bright fluorescent ones!:( We have stayed at places all over the US , and i have never been more disappointed in a rental . We literally spent hours cleaning before we felt comfortable . After we left i messaged the host that i thought we should get our “cleaning” fee refunded ; he said he would talk to the owner and i never heard from him after that . I gave 2 stars just because the property is located in a beautiful area.

My party and I arrived friday afternoon. upon arriving we noticed some disarray(streamer like things) in the yard but didnt think much of it. the living and sleeping space looked well kept. the roku was nice to have and luckily my guest was an electrician and knew the starting sequence to start the fireplace in the living room (which is quite complicated and still took him 20 minutes). After settling we went to the hot tub which was a main attraction for us getting the rental. the tub was borderline cold reading a mild 70ish degrees. we gave the tub a few hours and it was still only in the mid 70s. upon calling the cell phone of the property manager, they notified me that the previous guests had left the house in disarray and had dirtied the hot tub so bad it had to be completely drained cleaned and refilled but assured it would be up to temp by morning and offered a late checkout Sunday. I understand that this is totally out of the managers control, but a simple heads up would have earned them an extra star for service. we called it a loss on the hot tub the first night and returned for hope of a 100+ degree setting the next day since we kept it closed all night. Upon the morning, we checked the temp and it only hit about the mid 80s. We then hit the slopes and hoped to return to a full temp. nope. the temp peaked at 94 which is 10 degrees colder than the set temperature of 104 (this is after a full 24 hours of leaving the tub heating and covered). at this point we were running short on time left and decided to work with what we had for our last night of stay. Also that night we decided to grill later in the evening after cooking for abour 20 minutes the grill died because the propane wasnt refilled compketely so we had to finish the grill food in the kitchen. Overall our stay was dampened by the whole series of faults. like other reviews pots and pans are not large so if youre cooking for a large group you may want to bring an extra large saucepan and some plastic cups because glassware is short aswell. at the end of the weekend i had brought up my concerns to the manager and they had apologized for the circumstance. l was issued a 10% refund on the rental cost. i understand that previous renters were the cause of most of the issues likely, but i do wish there was better communication between the manager and I. it would have made for a much better weekend and better stay.

Beware! Dirty listing, poorly-equipped with suspicious property management

We rented this property for our family of 6 children and 7 adults. It did not meet the description on VRBO--how it looked, what it provided & was not clean by ANY standards.The pots & pans were dirty, scratched and rusty-appearing.It was supposed to accommodate 16 people, but there were not enough cups, bowls & mugs for 5 people.One of the kitchen cabinets was broken, there were no knobs, & they were sticky.The sink was leaking, & there was no ice machine. We ended up spending hundreds of dollars at restaurants (as Covid was on the rise nationally) because the kitchen was not fully-functional.One couch was a lumpy futon with an old comforter wrapped around the mattress.There was very little security to the doors & windows.The hardest issue to deal with was the filth.The floors were very dirty. Visible hair and build-up throughout.There were cobwebs and dead bugs around the toilets and corners. One cobweb had been there so long it had confetti from a previous party in it.There was a wiffle ball bat behind the couch & large food crumbs left behind by previous renters. The shower curtain was moldy. The house did not appear professionally cleaned which is especially problematic during a pandemic. There were no cleaning supplies/a vacuum cleaner we could use ourselves. We showered our 2 month old baby rather than using the tub.We actually looked for places to move, but the size of our party reduced our options & we were continually promised remedies. There were not enough linens for the number of guests.We found old pillows with pillowcases already on them with stains and hair. No sheets were provided for any of the futons until day 2.There were no washcloths & bathmats other than a dirty carpet remnant at the downstairs tub.The bathrooms smelled musty/not properly ventilated.There was a hairball on the ledge of the shower. After a series of texts, the manager offered to refund us our cleaning fee & $100 for the above issues.After checkout, we received the security deposit but not the $425. I texted & the manager wrote, "I didn't send it yet, so we can exchange 5 star reviews and I can process the refund right away or we can wait the 14 day period when no reviews can be made and I process the refund then if you choice to not leave each other reviews. Let me know how you would like to proceed." So the shabby, dirty rental ended with extortion by the property manager! We decided to write an honest review and report it to VRBO instead of recouping $425!

Slightly cleaner than a Fraternity house

If ALL you care about is getting a huge group in one place, and under one roof(like we did). Then this place checks all the boxes. It is as comfortable as a frat house in the beginning of the semester. P.s. let us know if you find the secret message in the mirror. It was there before us and I'm just curious how long will it last.

Functional home with some quirks

I would like to preface this review by saying this place is not the most aesthetic home I've rented so far but it is functional in its way. The owner of this property can make some changes and instantly improve the look and feel of this place. I would like to start with the strengths of this place: The owner of this property is easy to reach, and they respond to all inquiries promptly. The house accommodated my entire group and still had places to sleep. The grill worked great, the propane tank was full and grill utensils are available. The pool is 4 feet deep and refreshing. The jacuzzi was very relaxing to sit in, and worked as intended. AC available on the 1st floor kept downstairs at a comfortable temp. Now for the weaknesses: We were sent a message with quite a few rules, which I was all for because I assumed I would be met by a house in immaculate condition. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I'm not sure where our cleaning fee went into. One of the rules of the home is, "no shoes indoors". The house was not swept, and I immediately felt debris on my feet. A moment later, the soles of my feet were black. We ended up cleaning the floors ourselves. The broom and mop are conveniently placed next to the kitchen in a recessed area. The kitchen counters were not wiped, luckily we came with our wipes and wiped down all the surfaces. There was dust, spider webs, and faucet grime. The cabinet doors are not in the best condition, so be gentle. The pool is uncovered so prepare to clean the surface of the water. There is a pool net available. There was dirt settled at the bottom but the pool is placed on gravel and dirt, it's bound to happen. The stairs of the pool do not feel secure, it wobbles as you descend. Please use with caution. I found a random area full of huge chunks of glitter, yet another instance of not knowing where the cleaning fee went into. The fire pit was great but we could not use it for much longer because it's extremely close to the woodsy area and there was a bear out there. The fridge might have been unplugged before we got there because our food and drinks did not chill until the next day. The bedrooms can get warm, and not all fans work. The fan I had rattled against the floor when on. I suggest the owner should pass by and do a quality check for cleanliness. Move the fire pit closer to the home, fence off the woodsy area, and have some solar lights. Overall, good enough for a weekend getaway.

Decent place to stay in the Catskills

This is an older property that is weathered. There were many things inside the cupboards when we arrived. This ranged from bread to marijuana to random trash. When you first walk in, you can tell the place is heavily used and is maintained to be livable. There was air conditioning on the first floor and it worked very well. The pool was nice and great for kids. The hot tub was ok at first, but very quickly loses heat throughout the night. The upstairs rooms were decent, but the mattresses were very firm. The best thing about this was the amazing communication from the owner. If something broke, he sent someone to fix it. Overall, this is a mediocre property and a good last minute house.

Perfect Weekend getaway

Great location! Close to Hunter Mtn.

This house was perfect for our large group of friends coming up to ski for a weekend at Hunter. It was only 5 minutes from the mountain and was big enough to comfortably fit everyone. Only thing is the owner/property manager never answered my messages or uploaded any check in/out information, we were stuck to fend for ourselves with that. Besides that, we had a great time!

Great stay

The house was nice and big for our family members and friends. Very peaceful and nice location. Stores nearby in case you need anything.. Hot tub was really good. Our favorite part was the fire pit. We enjoyed it and made s'mores under the stars. The owner was always there to answer any questions and concerns we had. The area is perfect to go to the kaaterskills falls and horseback riding.

Great home with private pool and hot tub!

We really enjoyed our stay in this house in hunter mountain - lots of beds and towels and the pool and hot tub were wonderful for our large group. House was simple in terms of furnishing and no extras things like books / games / etc. and the rooms in the top did get hot but otherwise it was perfect

The best loction to go to Huntet Mountain to ski

The location of the house is perfect if you plan to go to Hunter Mountain to ski or snowboard, you are just three minutes for the entrance. The house is very comfortable, we were a group of evelen and everybody has plenty space to relax and enjoy their personal space. The hosts were very polite and always taking care of my group by email/ messages, all my questions were answer inmediately and my suggestions were very well received by them. I trully recommend this house for your vacactions in Lanesville.

The best weekend getaway!

So the house was very comfortable. I came with a large group (14 ppl). And we all slept comfortably. There was a secrete room on the 3rd floor with a twin bed which we thought was a closet door at first which was a win! Being a large group we did cook a lot and were low on pots and pans but we made it work so if you are planning on cooking a large amount a food I suggest to bring your own. We did utilize the hot tub and we loved it. We also used the bonfire pit and they did supply us with wood which was a plus. The supermarkets are less than 10 min away. The ski resort are 5 min away. We loved! The shower with the jet and the the second floor tub did have a shower also which was great. The owner responded quickly and answered any questions I needed. I would definitely recommend this place. Also the scenerie is amazing!!!

Very comfortable house for group

House is nicely appointed and in good condition. (Pictures are accurate.). Sufficient room for large group, without everyone getting in each other's way. Large backyard with pool is an added bonus. Owner is very responsive and easy to deal with. A great time was had by all, and if we have another opportunity to return to the area, we would be happy to stay in this house again.

Great House

We had 8 adults, (2) couples and (4) single guys share this house for the weekend of Mountain Jam at Hunter Mountain. Plenty of space for all of us. Great location which is a short 15 minute walk to the mountain. The house is well equipped with everything you'll need for a weekend get-a-way. The owner is very responsive with communications. The only thing missing was a shower in the second floor bathroom but we all managed to take showers on the main floor. We would stay here again and recommend this to anyone who is visiting Hunter Mountain.

House was clean with enough beds for a family of 10. However there is only one shower and the house is not suitable for young children. The stairs were steep and there were no doors to close off stairs.Kitchen utensils and pots were sparse so bring your own if u want to cook any large meals. Other than that house was satisfactory.

Welcoming & clean!

My friends and I had a wonderful time at this property on our weekend ski trip up to Hunter Mountain! The house is very clean and up to date. It is also minutes away from the mountain. The owners were so helpful when we arrived, answering any questions we had via text. There was a large group of us, but the place was accommodating and everyone had a place to sleep. We had a great time and would recommend anyone to stay here.
