About this property

Located AT LAKE JUNALUSKA!! Beautiful Log Cabin, Modern Amenities, WIFI, HD TV

Your log cabin is tucked away on a quiet cul de sac area of Lake Junaluska. It is a 3 minute walk to the edge of Lake Junaluska and Lake Junaluska Conference Center.
The cabin has 3 great outdoor spaces including a front porch with rocking chairs, a covered back patio with a grill and a newly added smokeless firepit!
This 3 bedroom and 2.5 cabin has everything you need for a perfect, peaceful vacation. The kitchen has all of the amenities of home. In addition, the kitchen is stocked with cookware. The cabin has central heat and air although with the cool mountain breezes you rarely need air conditioning.
The front bedroom has a day bed, trundle bed and bunk beds. Open the French doors to this room and let the mountain sunshine and fresh mountain air fill the room. The family room is a great place to gather to play board games or just curl up on the couch and read a book. The family room has one of the 2 high definition satellite flat screen televisions with the other TV in the middle Bedroom. In addition, the cabin has free WI-FI. A fireplace with gas logs in the family room keeps you toasty warm on chilly evenings.
Enjoy grilling out on the back covered patio where a gas grill and picnic table are provided. You can dine out rain or shine on the patio. The front porch is a great place to overlook the front garden with gorgeous flowers, birds, and butterflies. Coffee and grits on the porch in the morning....life does not get any better than this!
Road access to the cabin is easy and there is a flat driveway for parking.
The cabin is located on the Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center. It is a great place to stay for the many conferences, retreats, and meetings that Lake Junaluska offers throughout the year. The cabin is a 3 minute walk to Stuart Auditorium and Terrace meeting rooms.
At Lake Junaluska, there are many activities and amenities for you to enjoy.

In the summer, the Olympic size pool is open and the pool is built to give you the illusion that you are actually swimming in the lake! Kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats can be rented in the summer from the aquatic center. Pickle ball, shuffleboard, mini golf, basketball, volley ball and tennis are also great activities at Lake Junaluska.
Fishing is permitted with the proper fishing license. There is a public boat launch. Electric motors or paddles must be used on the lake...no gas powered boats or personal watercraft. Several docks are located around the lake for your fishing pleasure. The playground is open year round and is an awesome place for children to play and frolic. There are also covered picnic tables. There is a paved 2.6 mile walking/running path that encircles the 200 acre lake. The views of the mountains are stunning. Enjoy viewing the ducks and swans along the way! This path is great for strollers too. You will want to take your camera along to snap some pictures of the lake and mountains. The Rose Walk is a must see at Lake Junaluska. It is a portion of the trail around the lake and there are numerous rose bushes with a rainbow of color. Don't forget to 'stop and smell the roses'.

The Lake Junaluska golf course is just 5 minutes away. Enjoy the 4 seasons of the Smoky Mountains!
Summer-fishing, golf, tennis, hiking, biking, mini golf, boating, horseback riding, rafting, tubing
Autumn-apple picking, Apple Festival in Waynesville, leaf peeping at mountains painted with yellow, gold and orange, hiking, photo opportunities.
Winter-snow skiing, snow boarding, sledding, making snowmen, snow angels, hot chocolate by the fireplace.
Spring-flower festivals, hiking, mountains bursting with blooms of every color.

In addition, we also have a cabin right next door to this one. Junaluska Cabin can be viewed at property number 1724993. Great arrangement for families traveling together!!

One beautiful place

This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. Lake juluska is now one of our family's favorite places to go to. My whole family said they would love to move in to the cabin that we stayed in during our stay. The host's were so caring and loving. and supportive.

Great for families!

Great historic cabin- three bedrooms plus a fold-out couch. Two full bathrooms plus a half bath which was nice. Well-equipped kitchen. Fantastic location- you can easily walk to the lake and a cute coffee/gift shop in less than 5 minutes. Would definitely stay here again!

Great place to make memories!

This is our 2nd time staying at the Cokesbury Cabin at Lake Junaluska. There were 6 adults and 4 children and the cabin was spacious and very comfortable. The oven is my arch nemesis as it seems to take forever to cook food but even with that, I would stay there again! Highly recommend!

Best Ever Get-Away

We came with 4 of our grandchildren to introduce them to Lake Junaluska and they LOVED the cabin- especially all the bunk bed options and the front porch where we played so many games and rocked and read books each day! The location made it so easy to walk down to get ice cream cones and go to the library and book store/gift shop. We cannot wait to return!!

Spacious Cabin in Beautiful Retreat Setting

Our stay at Cokesbury Cabin gave me the perfect opportunity to introduce my husband to my beloved Lake Junaluska while experiencing all the comforts and accutrements of a house in the mountains! We enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen, fireplace, clawfoot bathtub, and rocking chairs on the front porch. Lake Junaluska itself is a world-class, Christian retreat setting with many opportunities for spiritual inspiration and reflection. We recommend excursions to: nearby Cataloochee (in the Great Smoky Mountain Ntl Park) to hike, enjoy breathtaking scenery, and see the elk; and a tour of the Biltmore Estate! Thanks to Ruth and Ted for their always prompt and courteous communication. Blessings to you!

Great location and loved the cabin.

Loved the cottage. Its old and some is dated but I liked the ambiance of the old logs and rough feel. It worked well with us with our small grandchildren. I loved the area. We had seen the Conference Center before but never stayed there. Great atmosphere. Safe, loved the lake and pool. Being a Homeaway owner I understand the tough part of keeping a property clean. I think it could have been a little better cleaned. Refrig was dirty and not cleaned out but having said that it was not major. I only say this to make the owner aware. But I would highly recommend this property. Thanks for the opportunity to rent.

Excellent cabin near the mountains

We stayed in Autumn 2019. It's a great cabin, and you should definitely consider staying here. Pros: Lots of beds for lots of guests and great location. We had 4 adults and 2 children, and everyone had their own beds. There would be room for 2 more kids easy. The house was very comfortable, and the neighborhood was very quiet. Cabin is within easy walking distance to the town, although there is not a lot to do in Lake Junaluska. Asheville, Maggie Valley, and Waynesville are an easy drive away. Cons: While the kitchen is well appointed and the appliances work well, it's not a kitchen for involved meals. The kitchen utensils are a bit on the cheaper side, and the drip coffee pot is the cheapest possible (please replace with a decent one!!). Nonetheless, we were able to make several good meals there during our stay.

Wonderful location

This log cabin offers a warm and cozy stay just a quick walk away from the lake and a playground for the children. The kitchen is very well supplied with any and everything you would need. We appreciated the 2 full and one half baths - each bedroom had close access. Although we were visiting over the winter holidays, the front porch and rocking chairs looked delightful for a lazy summer day.

Our family had a wonderful stay at Cokesbury Cabin. It was clean and cozy! The front patio was so lovely to sit and have coffee in the morning and hear the birds and chipmunks. About the host

Hosted by Ruth or Ted Singletary

Host profile image
Ted and Ruth Singletary were born and raised in Charleston, S.C. area. Ruth's family always vacationed at Chimney Rock, N.C. and Ted's family camped in the Great Smoky Mountains. Ruth visited Lake Junaluska as a child and returned every summer to the beauty of the lake. In 1991, Ted and Ruth began bringing their children to Lake Junaluska. In 1996, our family purchased an inn at Lake Junaluska and have spent our summers at Lake Junaluska ever since then.

Why they chose this property

Lake Junaluska holds a special place in our hearts. It is a place where you can refresh, relax and renew your spirit. There is nothing more spectacular than sitting up by the famous Lake Junaluska cross and watching the sunset at over the lake....priceless. Our cabin was the original bookstore at Lake Junaluska and was built in 1925. It has been a labor of love restoring this cabin to bring it back to it's original beauty.

What makes this property unique

When we first stepped inside the cabin we both said, 'It feels like home!'. The cabin is in a quiet section of Lake Junaluska but just a 2 minute walk will have you at the Lake's edge taking in the panoramic view of pristine Lake Junaluska. We love rocking on the front porch!
