Fresh Water And Trail Enthusiasts, Take A Look At One Of Maine's Hidden Gems
Welcome to our family's Summer get-away for about 70 years. Here's a little piece of why we love it so much (and we think you will too!).
Our private 2 bedroom, 1 bath wood cabin is located 3 miles out on a forest road and situated on a half acre of land along side crystal clear Craig Pond. The cabin is within 50 feet from the water and you will have open views and direct access to the lake. There will be kayaks and a canoe available for your use, as well as a BBQ grill and natural fire-pit. You are also welcome to bring your own boat(s). For bigger boat access, you can use the public beach marina on the way out to the cabin.
Our cabin has heat, electricity, a fully functioning kitchen, shower, and bathroom, as well as a washing machine, dryer and basic satellite TV. Our cabin can sleep up to eight people on one queen size, two twin size, two roll-out beds and queen sofa bed in the living room. In addition, there is a brand new small guest cabin with two Twin size beds available.
Within a mile from the cabin, you can also access the Great Pond Mountain trail head. This trail is roughly 1.5 mile to the summit of Great Pond Mountain where you will have access to all the wild blueberry picking that your heart desires, as well as witness beautiful views of area lakes, mountains, and towns at the top.
Also within a mile, you will have access to over 15 miles of trails for hiking, running, biking, or exploring. An alternate trail head is also roughly 5 miles away if you would like to explore further. We recommend checking out Hothole Pond along the trail, which is only accessible by foot. We will leave maps for you just in case.
Feel free to fish for your own salmon and trout while you're here or visit the Federal Fish Hatchery (3 miles away) for an educational tour.
We are confident that you will enjoy hours of swimming, lounging and relaxing on your own personal dock and float. But, if you need a little more excitement, we recommend taking the boats across the lake to jump off the rock ledges or check out the public beach as an additional swimming area.
Once you're done swimming or exploring, feel free to bring out a little friendly competition with play badminton, horseshoes, Croquet or board games.
Then, relax by the camp-fire

As the title states this is our second year visiting. It’s a great location and such a cozy spot. It’s great to either hang on the lake or hike the trials around Craig pond. It’s also an awesome place to drive a little farther to Bar Harbor or Acadia. Overall, lovely place to slow down and relax.
We absolutely loved our stay on Craig Pond.
The good (more like great) - the views, the loons!!, the sunsets, moon and stars, clean clear water, solitude and tranquility. Our dogs LOVED swimming the day away and taking rides in the kayaks across the pond to check out the caves and cliffs. Perfect proximity to Acadia and coastal towns for exploring.
The “not so” good - We had a handful of issues come up since we were the first renters of the season, but Brenda was ultra responsive and helpful to the best of her ability as not being local to the property. She did everything in her power to make it right.
We look forward to returning to Craig Pond!

Thank you so much for the nice Review. But mostly Thank you for understanding about the unexpected & untimely “issues”. I got everything all fixed/straightened out right after you left. I welcome you to stay at my cabin in the future ! Brenda

Good value for the cost. Beautiful area, scenic, quiet. Kids enjoyed being on the pond/lake. Realistically is a two-bedroom, with a sofa bed in the living room. Cabin could have been cleaner (also grill). Found out upon arrival faucet water not potable; dishware could not be used in the microwave. Urn in living room and memorial stone in backyard may be disconcerting to guests. But overall we had a good time.

A true getaway from the hustle and bustle.
We loved the quiet, remote location of the property. The road was rough but drivable. Sitting outside watching the sunset while listening to the birds was a peaceful pastime. We were happy with the true wood cabin build. Items needed for our stay, other than food, were mostly available for use.
Brenda was easy to reach, was friendly and very helpful. We were, however, disappointed with the lack of lighting throughout the cabin. The cabin was cluttered, the dishes in the cupboards and the insides of the cupboards were dirty from the winter. Unfortunately, since we were the first renters for the season, the dock wasn't in yet so the kayaks weren't able to be used. Overall, we had a good stay. It fit the experience we were looking for.

Can you please elaborate with specifics on the lack of lighting in the cabin, clutter & dirty dishes and inside cupboards. My housecleaner was suppose to clean everything just prior to your arrival.
The lakefront location is spectacular! Neighborhood was quiet, as we were there in the “off” season. Remaining neighbors were friendly. GPS directions via Google maps tried to take us on an ATV connector trail. You should approach property via the fish hatchery facility. Great local hikes with trailheads on the road down to the water front.
I admit I was a little alarmed when we first took the gravel roads to the cabin, dodging potholes and small rock ledges, but that's the city girl in me. By the way, don't take Ebbens Trail unless you are in an SUV and high off of the ground, it's nothing but rock ledges. The cabin is cozy, homey, and there is a spectacular view of the lake. It was stocked well for our stay including kitchen staples like spices and zip lock bags. It was a little too chilly to enjoy the kayaks, but we were able to read on comfy couches and enjoy a movie night or two. Brenda was very easy to contact and responded to our messages quickly. The cabin was clean if a little cluttered and we had fun finding all the loons. The water also comes from the lake so we didn't think it was portable. Fortunatley there is a grocery store about 15 minutes away for anything you might need. It was an enjoyable stay and we'd love to come back when it's warm. My dog loved dipping her paws in the lake 😄
Great week staying here. House was as advertised: so much space. Water comes from the lake so be sure to check in with owner if it’s safe to drink. Loved exploring the area and can’t wait to book for next year!

beautiful location
Our stay on Craig Pond was delightful. The weather was very warm and the pond water clean and refreshing. Spent most of our time on the dock, in the pond and in the yard. The owners met us on time and showed us around.
A few suggestions: The sheets and blankets were worn and there were ants in the kitchen. One of the canoes needs replacement. On 3 nights, the neighbors were very loud, the children unsupervised. Our grandchildren could hear drunken adults who were swearing and yelling, as late as midnight.

Welcome and thank you for your interest in our cabin!
Brenda and I have grown up on Craig Pond our entire lives. Our parents built the cabin in 1947 while our father also worked at the local paper mill. From learning how to swim when were 3-4 years old, to learning how to water-ski when we were teenagers, to chasing our first crushes around the lake, and watching it all over again with our children--this place has our hearts!
We have chosen to open up the place for two weeks per year for others to enjoy. We can't wait to meet you!
