Depending on the season, the lake is great for a swim, a float, a sail, a kayak, a paddleboard, fishing, some broom ball or ice skating. The surrounding land offers plenty of outdoor activities during any season. Don’t worry if you forgot to bring something as you are only a ten minute drive from downtown Mukwonago with great local shops as well as a familiar Walgreens and Walmart.

MAIN HOUSE FEATURES:
The “Big House” at Lakewood is designed to please, with floor to ceiling windows across the expanse of the vaulted ceiling double great room to give you beautiful views of the lake. With eight bedrooms including two on the first floor, there is ample room at the Big House.

GUEST HOUSE FEATURES:
When you have a bigger group and need a bit more room, add our Guest House to your stay. Renovated in 2015 the Guest House has three bedrooms, a sitting room, and a full bath. Just a few steps away from the Main House, the Guest House sleeps 14-18 with four bunk beds (two of which are twin over full) and two sleeper sofas.

KITCHEN FEATURES:
The kitchen is fully furnished and equipped, should you choose to cook inside rather than on the two gas grills outside. The kitchen features a 60” Wolf gas stove complete with two full size ovens, six burners, and a double griddle. A stainless steel refrigerator/freezer and stainless steel dishwasher are also in the main kitchen. There is a second refrigerator/freezer in the laundry room.

GREAT ROOM FEATURES:
The great room is arranged into multiple conversation settings with the mid-century furniture. There is a massive arched sofa, a coffee table, and two leather chairs near the fireplace and tv. Another area provides for conversation and viewing through the large floor to ceiling windows. And just off the great room are the sliding glass door to the screened in porch (a terrific evening spot) and the door to the game room.

BEDROOM & BATHROOM HIGHLIGHTS:
There are two bedrooms on the first floor with a full bath in between equipped with a walk in shower. There is a pocket door to close off the bedrooms from the main floor. Just a few steps around the corner and near an entrance to the house through the oversized first floor laundry room is an additional patio with two full sized picnic tables and a gas grill. This is a great spot for feeding family members who wish to stay in their bathing suits in the summer without having to worry about messing up the dining or breakfast rooms. Across the yard is a backstop and baseball ‘diamond’ for those so inclined. Just up the hill from there is a fenced-in tennis court with a half-court basketball hoop.

BOATHOUSE AND BEACH HIGHLIGHTS:
The two story boathouse features a screened-in porch as well as access to an outdoor deck overlooking the beach and lake. The view from the deck is a view like no other when you realize you are in the midst of a private paradise. The beach below is an ideal spot for sunbathing, kicking back, and for the younger set to play in the sand and shallow water. There is a dock with a built in bench seat that provide some great fishing as swimming opportunities. Launching kayaks, canoes, rafts, rowboats, etc. from the beach and pier makes enjoying the full lake experience unforgettable.

Stunning spot
We had an absolutely incredible time staying at this gorgeous lake house. It's beautifully set up for family reunions or groups of friends, with plenty of space to hang out together, walk to the lake, cook, etc. Highly recommend!

Great, private spot for groups and reunions!
Our group of about fifteen, including four kids, had a great time! The spot is an easy drive from Milwaukee, but plenty secluded and a beautiful area. The kids had a ton of fun on the private lake with the provided paddleboat, and the house was amazingly spacious for the adults to spread out and relax. The owners were very gracious and responsive to questions - it's clear they care deeply about the property. We would definitely come back!

This place is incredible!
What an amazing property for a big group get together. There’s plenty of space for sleeping, cooking, eating and an endless amount of activities to keep any group busy during their stay. We never felt any need to leave! Pictures and videos don’t do this place justice, it’s simply fantastic!

Mukwonago Lake Home fun
Beautiful spring-fed lake with good fishing 🎣. Kids loved kayaking, paddle boarding, paddle boating, rowing out to fish, & swimming. They named the giant prehistoric turtles (Petunia hangs out under the pier & so does Pete). Loads of room for our giant family with 4 full bathrooms AND 2 powder rooms. Roomy bedrooms. House & GUEST HOUSE accomodated our huge family. Resident geese & wild turkey came to visit each day & a couple of us caught a glimpse of the white deer. The property is beautiful with a lot of trees & a fun swing. Nice sandy area for the little children. Thank you fir a terrific time. 👍

About the host

Host profile image
We are the First, Second, Third, and Fourth generation of a large, Chicago based family. Deep Family roots pull us from all over the US and Ireland to Lakewood Farms in Mukwonago, Wisconsin.

Why they chose this property

We have grown up, worked on and enjoyed Lakewood Farm for 75 years. Only 1 1/4 hours from O'Hare International Airport, it is as much a part of our DNA as our heritage. The farm offers a unique, private destination for family adventure, family milestones and family reunions.

What makes this property unique

At any given time of the day, we sit at the top of the hill and will see family members swimming across the lake, a sailboat heeling in the wind, kayakers catching turtles in Turtle Heaven, row boats with fishing poles casting and catching, kids romping on the 'lily pad' off the pier, and sunbathers enjoying the beach. The 'Big House' features a great room with eight picture windows overlooking the lake, kitchen with eat-in breakfast room, dining room, game room, mud/laundry room. Two bedrooms, one full bath and two half baths are on the first floor. Six bedrooms and three full baths are on the second floor. Most of our memories are made outside where children can hike to roller-coaster or caterpillar hills, or back to the Mukwonago River or the sand pit or to the little barns or through the fields and trails...picking berries, catching toads, collecting wild flowers and taking pictures of our favorite Lakewood spots. Sledding in the winter, hiking through the woods to see the fall colors, playing softball on the baseball diamond or tennis at the tennis court provide plenty of alternative activities for everyone.
