Weekend WV Getaway

We took our kids for a weekend getaway to Harpers Ferry. The area is very peaceful and tranquil and centrally located with an easy 20-minute drive to wineries, hiking, nearby restaurants, etc. Communication was easy and we appreciated an early check in and wood for making a fire at night by the water! The house was very clean and modern. We had one minor issue that the master bedroom, where the linens had been removed and were left upstairs with the bed unmade. Thankfully the property had extra linens available on site for our use (we were not using the study/office for sleeping). The kitchen is quite small but adequate for making dinner and such. While it's very nice and peaceful to have a waterfront location, the location understandably comes with a fair share of bugs. The house was stocked with bug spray, but I would definitely recommend bringing bug spray if planning to spend time outside.

The location of this place was beautiful!! It is the perfect location if you are looking for a quiet place to enjoy nature. The air conditioning in the house works great and the living room is perfect for a family movie marathon while still enjoying the view of the water. The road it is on is perfect for taking early morning walks along the river. There is such potential for this place.However the general maintenance and cleanliness of this property has room for improvement. The door from the office to the upstairs bathroom was broken/pulled off the hinges. We had issues with other doors not wanting to fit in the door jambs. You could see blue tape on the bottom of the upstairs tub. There were spiderwebs in the corners of the rooms and the layer of dust/dirt along the baseboards. We couldn't use the one pillow in the upstairs bedroom because it smelled like bad BO. We had to be careful opening and closing the dishwasher because it wasn't screwed into the area.
