The web site showed the location on Lafayette St., but it was in fact 5 blocks away on busy Union St. The room faced the road and had no sound insulation, so sleeping was very difficult. I would not have booked this if the location was accurately shown!

Awesome stay in Schenectady

Loved staying at this place in downtown Schenectady. Super convenient, comfortable and quiet. Amazing location. It was definitely more a studio than one bedroom apartment but worth every penny! I will definitely book again.

VRBO customer service is useless & you'll regret staying here.I never received the booking info & needed to message the host when I got to the location. After receiving no response, I called the host and he told me the apartment # and code to get inside. It took 20 minutes to get inside.As SOON as I walked in, the room smelled gross like mildew. If you've ever been in a water damaged basement, you'll know the smell. While I didn't see any signs of mold given that I woke up covered in hives, I'm certain it's there. There are large brown stains on the carpet and certain parts felt damp. If I weren't so tired from the travel, I might not have stayed the night at all.I tried to contact the host to no avail for the rest of the day. When I finally called VRBO customer support I was on hold for 90 minutes only for them to tell me to reach out to the host. I was given a number for his helper because he wasn't in the US at the time of my trip. I texted the helper but never received any response. I basically paid full price to spend one (of 2) nights in a room that negatively affected my health and will not receive any refund because it is up to the host, and to date, he's never messaged me back.

Honestly can’t say how the inside of the listing was. Arrived and parked where the property manager said to. As I was reading the instructions to get into the property a man started overdosing next to my car. I watched as they were trying to revive him and the neighbors sat on their stoop looking like this was just another day. Didn’t end up staying, had to pay for a hotel and the property manager refused any type of refund. Just based on the neighborhood alone I would not recommend this listing.

When I booked only 3 reviews were available two were 10’s the other a 2. I wondered if the 2 was a curmudgeon and if the 10’s were friends. Not a lot of other choices so I took the chance. This will now become my go to when traveling to Schenectady. It’s a studio (not a one bedroom) that is well laid out, clean and nicely decorated. The check in details were not provided until the day of (Expedia says they will provided 3 days prior). It worked out fine, but I prefer earlier than the day of travel as the grid, Expedia, VRBO could go down or I could lose my phone or it could need a charge,etc. Because I’m a dinosaur I had a (self inflicted) issue with the lock/door. I didn’t see the directions on the back of the door and once I did I still found them a bit confusing. It’s would be great if the information was put in the check in details on the booking. To lock the door go outside close the door and press the top button that says Kwikset. The unit was as described.
