The unit is cleaned on a basic cleaning (not Clean Freak) standard before arrival of guests. If you are a "Clean Freak white glove inspection” type who likes to look for flaws in the unit and not disclose them to me within 24 hours of arrival so I can correct any issues, and rather disclose such issues 1 week later to satisfy your desire to be an “internet critic” or try to extract a subsequent discount on the daily rate, then please DO NOT stay here.

Perfect size, location, amazing views and Robert the host was absolutely charming and hospitality. We stayed for 5 nights with our teenage son and it was perfect!!
I loved our stay here, and if/when I come back to the Bay Area I would absolutely stay here again. Robert was such a helpful and kind host; he made sure we had everything we needed and genuinely wanted us to have a nice stay. We travelled with our 2 kids, 6 and 8, so there were 4 of us total. I was very diligent in making sure we stayed in a safe location and this place absolutely delivered. The beds were soft and comfy and the location is fantastic- it’s very walkable and easy for delivery drivers to find. This is a nice historic San Francisco apartment; I’ve visited relatives in similarly historic buildings and this was a very authentic Bay Area experience. I’m so very grateful for the wonderful and safe experience with my kids, who now have great memories of city life!I also want to note that there is a full kitchen, plenty of towels, blankets, and everything to make the stay cozy.

Rob provided a pretty good description of this place. Be sure to read the description and what it doesn’t provide as Rob has detailed. The low-rating reviews are quite spot-on. As far as cleanliness, read those reviews…Laundry detergent used on towels and linens were so strong-smelling, it was not pleasant. Close to many attractions is the highlight of this place along with the nice view.
Robert was a great host. The apartment is in an amazing location close to Ghirardelli Square and Pier 39. The couch in the living room is very comfortable and the kitchen is well outfitted. Only downside is the master bedroom mattress is very soft and not comfortable if you prefer more firmness.
Just a great location and property. We had a wonderful dinner party in the dining room during our stay and many memorable meals around the city. Robert is super-accommodating.
Unbelievable location! Within easy walking distance to Pier 39, bay cruises, Hop On Hop Off bus stops and trolley cars. The host bent over backwards to help us out when we left some items behind!
The views from the property were beautiful! The location was awesome! The property is very close to restaurants and attractions. The host was personable and available for any questions or concerns.
Amazing location and amazing views! My kids loved the ‘secret garden’ and the cats. The flat was well located for all the things we wanted to do. The place has everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Robert was a welcoming host and checked in to see if we needed anything. The decor is a little dated, but it doesn’t matter because you will be looking out the windows all the time. We would absolutely stay there again!

Thanks Jill!
Great clean up job.
The crows and gulls thank you for all the leftovers.
The cats are looking around for the girls and miss all the belly rubs.
This house is very well located, with a view on the bay, close to bike rental and close from many SF sites by foot. The owner Robert was very helpful and improved our stay with many great tips, he even guide us to the city and to the Golden Gate Bridge. One warning: you need to consider there are numerous animals (especially cats) in the nearby if you are sensitive to odours !
The view of the bay is worth the stairs! A perfect location for easy access toSan Francisco sights. Robert went above and beyond with how friendly and attentive he was. Our group of friends really enjoyed the stay here.
Very accommodating host, and perfect location to all the restaurants and public transportation.

When we arrived at the apartment straight away the smell of cat pee welcomed us, robbert wasn't there, Laurie showed us around, the stairs to the apartment is rotten, also the balcony its not a safe place, the carpet is full with marks of cat pee, we never stayed there but went to a hotel near pier 39

This review is a lie. The guests did not occupy the unit because one of them could not climb the stairs due to complications with lung cancer. They should NEVER have booked this unit and are using these FALSE excuses to justify and extort a refund.
They never complained of any cat smells to my house sitter, They basically abandoned the unit on the first night without any notifucation to me or the house sitter. Lizzy D. explained in a documented text the next day that she "really loved the unit" but one of them could not climb the 45 steps to the unit due to the onset of lung cancer, and that they had to take a hotel in a flat area.
About the host
Hosted by Robert Thorpe
I have lived in San Francisco for 46 years, all the time in this property initially as a renter, then as the owner in 2002.
Why they chose this property
The views are spectacular from this building. Plus this property was one of the first rebuilt after the earthquake of 1906, and is a classic 'captains' house overlooking the entire San Francisco Bay.
What makes this property unique
This property is the perfect blend of the classic past existing in the buzz of all the tourist activities.
