Very nice property and area. We loved how close the home is to all the sites and attractions. Owner was very responsive to the minor smoke detector issue we had and it was quickly resolved. We would stay again!
We had a lovely stay. The house was very nice, furnished, and very well equipped. We all loved the grounds and beautiful flower gardens along with all the art pieces in the house. We will definitely be back!
We really enjoyed our stay. This was a quiet off the beaten path but only 10 minutes from downtown and the ferry. The house was well stocked, comfortable beds and very clean. It’s a beautiful property to just walk on and sit outside to enjoy, we did both. I would highly recommend. Jeanne is a responsive host and I appreciated her quick communications.
Conveniently located about 15 minutes from Friday harbor and Kiln lighthouse. Very quiet and relaxing home. Host was very nice and helpful. House was stocked with lots of dishes, pots, seasonings, blankets, towels, etc. It was the prefect place for a vacation!

Thank you for the kind comments. I hope you will come visit again.

The walking path that loops around the acreage is fabulous and provides you different views of the outdoor sculptural installations. There are many, many sculptures to take in from contemporary to found object pieces, stone sculptures to finely ground stainless steel pieces and one of. My favorites, a wooden whale hung in a tree about eye level with moss growing on its back rather than barnacles. Art aficionado’s will love this house! It’s a gem

Allyson, Thank you for your lovely comments about the art in my home and on the walkabout trail. I am delighted that you found the joy in its beauty, as I do. Come visit again !

I was there with my three teenage children, and we had a great time and the house was absolutely great. We were sitting in the back and a deer with giant antlers, just sauntered by through the backyard as we sat there.
A great house, well stocked kitchen. Close to Friday Harbor but in a quiet woods. A very nice primary bathroom. The frogs sang us a chorus each night. The trash cans were a bit confusing but that’s minor. We had a wonderful time here.

Don, Thanks for the review and so glad you and the family had a good time.
I appreciate your patience with the Opalco Coop overnight improvements work that happened one night of your visit.
Best, Jeanne
We stayed five nights and absolutely loved it! Spacious with great amenities. Quiet and fairly close to town. But everywhere is close to town on San Juan Island. We will be back!
The house was great and in a beautiful setting - It was so quiet and peaceful. We'd definitely stay there again. Jeanne, the host, was great to work with and very responsive to any questions we had,
Our family enjoyed the peaceful environment provided by the surroundings of this property. The home was well equipped for cooking and enjoying family time. We highly recommend this space.
Fantastic, peaceful, serene place to call home while exploring the majestic San Juan Islands. The home itself is luxurious and well-appointed: playful art, great kitchen, and tons of natural light. The land is even better: one of those few places of true quiet where you can hear the flapping of a birds wings while you take in the wonderful forest surroundings. There is a forest walk created with care that I took many times to just listen and be present. A beautiful space to meditate and just be. Add to this the amazing place that is San Juan Island…a recipe for something special. Highly valuable. Highly recommended. Thank you!

Thank you Chris for your review. The walkabout through 1/2 mile of my forest has been a labor of love creating and maintaining. It sounds like you experienced Forest Bathing which is slowing down and being still in the woods and while surrounded by the sounds of nature and maybe the tinkle of wind chimes. Guests come back for the walkabout and the yoga platform overlooking the pond. So many tree and evergreen reflections on the water a few dragon flies and croaking frogs entertain.
Bring the family and comeback again.

It was amazing. Felt like I was in paradise. I was more peaceful than I’ve been in a long time. Would definitely recommend staying here to anyone. I know thank you for everything.
The house was beautiful and very well appointed. The location was easy and right in the middle of the island. We all felt so welcome and right at home. We would love to come back again and again!
beautiful property, quiet and peaceful. Well stocked, everything you wanted was there. Property owner was very easy to get ahold of and great to work with. I would 100% stay here again!
My family and I had a very nice stay at the "purple" house. The house was warm, cozy, clean, and fun for all. Beautiful setting and walking trails. Jeanne was a great host.
See you next time!

James,
Thank you for your kind comments. Your booking gets the prize for the first guests ever to arrive in 4 wheel drive after a rare snow storm covered the green grass with snow. I'll look forward to your return in more usual weather so you can enjoy evening happy hour in the gazebo by the pond.
Regards, Jeanne
This is a beautiful, well stocked home, not just a rental house. It’s quiet with birds, gardens, outdoor seating. We rarely saw any signs of the onsite manager and we felt our privacy was respected. It is about a 15 minute drive to any place on the island so it is a nice location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
We truly enjoyed our stay at Jeanne’s lovely house in the woods. The walking paths throughout the property were wonderful and my 3 year old granddaughter loved her hikes! The house was spotless and had everything we needed and more!

About the host
Hosted by Jeanne Sleeper
Owner, Jeanne fell in love with this island in 1976 when she was there to teach a class, visited several times over the years and in 2006 two families found the 16-acre parcel of our dreams. Both families live in busy So CA and they wanted the peace and privacy that comes with the rural forest and lots of space. Their love of the ocean, nature, art and sculpture fill the house and gardens.
Why they chose this property
This custom property is a low VOC, low allergen, amenity-filled home situated so light fills the house and every piece of art has a story. Kids have room to explore, enjoy a rural environment, see stars at night while parents read, BBQ, take walks and enjoy porch and patio sitting time. It's nice to be away from the traffic and town. Enjoy the craftsmanship and love that the island artisans built into my home and the computer and Starlink internet connection available for guests.
What makes this property unique
The wetlands behind the house has frogs, dragon flies & tad poles. The small deer come to drink and then walk around the lawn perimeters. The walkabout is a perfect 1/4 mile walk thru the woods to start and end each day. The property is in the island center, so Lime Kiln State Park, American Beach, Friday Harbor town or Roche Harbor are only a 20 minute scenic drive away.
