Some of these walks such as 'Black Head Loop' and ' Caher Valley loop' are accessible from the house and the walks can vary from moderate to strenous. There are also guided walks available.
The Burren is home to a remakabley diverse and well preserved heritage, richly represented of every era from the Neolithic period onward. This heritage give us an insight the lives of the generations passed. Magnificent, evocative structures such as the 5,800 year old Poul Na Brone, portal tomb exemplify this heritage. The Burren also includes about 80 wedge tombs, over 500 ringforts, including the spectacular Caher Cummann, ancient cooking sights known as 'Fulacht Fia', ancient churches, holy wells and round towers.
The Flora of the Burren is famous all over the world because of its remarkable beauty, richness and diversity. Over 70% of Irelands native Flora is found in the Burren, including 24 of our 27 Orchid spiecies. The exuberant beauty of the burren Flora is matched by its intriguing nature, with artic-alpine plants growing beside mediterranean plants. The diversity of the plant life adds a splash of colour and vibrancy to the burren from early spring through to Autumn.
