About this property
Manchester Renovated Historic 3 Bed, 3 Bath Mountain View, Large Yard
Enjoy the perfect balance of comfort, history, and mountain views in Manchester Village while you unwind with the whole family! The Hoyt House was built in 1763 and is one of the oldest homes in the area. It is recently renovated to modern sensibilities but still retains that historic charm, older than the country it sits in, on Manchester’s unique marble sidewalk with beautiful views. Prepared by experienced local hosts with everything you need to cook a great meal and furniture you can relax on.
Conveniently located in the village along the marble sidewalk, between the Ekwanok County Club and the Equinox Golf Resort & Spa, just down the road from Burr & Burton Academy, Orvis, and Hildene, and an easy drive to Bromley & Stratton! Convenient to all the attractions of Southern Vermont, from skiing, hiking, and fishing to shopping and summer theater.
From the historical entry you move through the spacious living room and dining room into the newly renovated kitchen with gorgeous views including the back of Bromley Mountain--sunrise in the winter is particularly spectacular. Out of the back door is a marble patio and yard overlooking the mountains, with an outdoor dining set in summer. The first floor also features a spacious master suite, study, and 1.5 bathrooms. Upstairs you’ll find 2 more bedrooms and a bath. There is shed storage for skis/boards and bikes.
Bedroom 1: Queen, ensuite bathroom with shower and tub
Bedroom 2: Queen
Bedroom 3: bunk bed with 2 singles
Bathrooms:
-Half bath off the living and dining rooms
-Full ensuite in the downstairs master suite
-Full bath between the 2 upstairs bedrooms
As this is a historical home, it has its unique attributes, including handblown glass, uneven floors, and other little idiosyncrasies that speak to the legacy of the generations who have called this their home. There are fans but no AC.
Our home shares an adjoining wall with another house, like a townhouse. It is a full house and quite private for a village house. Because of the proximity of neighbors in this quiet little village, we take quiet hours after 10 PM seriously and we cannot allow parties.
Here in rural Vermont, wildlife is part of the experience. The house is professionally cleaned and we do not anticipate that you will encounter anything, but the community coexists with deer, bear, eagles, rodents, snakes, insects, and other creatures. There are no refunds for critter sightings, it’s just part of life in the country.
Please note: we are restoring the exterior and landscaping this summer. This work does not impact the interior.

About the host
Hosted by Juliette

We are a local family, happy to share our beautiful home when we don’t need it!
Why they chose this property
For us as Vermonters, being walking distance to school is quite luxurious! We have grown to love walking down the locally quarried marble sidewalk into the postcard village for a stellar cocktail or breakfast, and we’re still only 10 minutes to get out of town for a hike or swim.
What makes this property unique
It was built in 1763, making it one of the oldest houses in the country! There is original hardware on one of the doors from when it was a blacksmiths shop. It’s very romantic and comfortable.
