As this is a historical home, it has its unique attributes, including handblown glass, uneven floors, and other little idiosyncrasies that speak to the legacy of the generations who have called this their home.
Our home shares an adjoining wall with another house, like a townhouse. It is a full house and quite private for a village house. Because of the proximity of neighbors in this quiet little village, we take quiet hours after 9 PM seriously and we cannot allow parties. This is a village ordinance.
Here in rural Vermont, wildlife is part of the experience. The house is professionally cleaned and we do not anticipate that you will encounter anything, but the community coexists with deer, bear, eagles, rodents, insects, and other creatures. There are no refunds for critter sightings, it’s just part of life in the country.
Come enjoy our comfortable, beautifully appointed historic home in an incredibly convenient location in Southern Vermont!

You really got the old world charm of slanting wide plank floors, ship lap walls up stairs old fashion claw foot tub shower was great. Beds comfortable. Kitchen had every thing we needed. light switches a bit confusing but once we understood most lamps were plug in and we needed to go to each fixture we got the hang of it. Mountain in fog but I'm sure it would have been a nice view. Dinner at Equinox quick walk but the block was great. Vermont old fashion was great.
The house is beautiful and full of personality. The location is amazing, if you like impeccably kept historic homes, marble sidewalks, and mountain views. The host was responsive and very welcoming. Highly recommend.

There is no air conditioning as the listing accurately states but the lack of air conditioning renders the entire upstairs (2 bedrooms) useless. We had to drag a mattress from the bunk beds and have a makeshift bedroom on first floor, which despite opening windows and using fans was 85 during the day and never below 79 by morning. Everyone was extraordinarily uncomfortable and impossible for the kids to sleep without issue
We are a local family, happy to share our beautiful home when we don’t need it!
Why they chose this property
For us as Vermonters, being walking distance to school is quite luxurious! We have grown to love walking down the locally quarried marble sidewalk into the postcard village for a stellar cocktail or breakfast, and we’re still only 10 minutes to get out of town for a hike or swim.
What makes this property unique
It was built in 1763, making it one of the oldest houses in the country! There is original hardware on one of the doors from when it was a blacksmiths shop. It’s very romantic and comfortable.
