Relax and leave stress behind at Hoosier Hideaway, located at the 400 block of Golden Hills Road, Fairplay, CO.

Enjoy the best of the Rocky Mountains in this secluded 2-acre, private 5-bedroom (plus two bunkrooms) family-friendly Hideaway! This almost 5,000 sq. ft. house’s neighborhood is just far enough off the beaten path to escape your stress but close enough to Breckenridge to ski on that perfect powder day.

The mature evergreens and aspens' backyard is Pike National Forest, and doubles as a trailhead that leads to Mosquito Creek, a 5-minute stroll from the back door. If you keep going, you will discover a network of forest service trails suitable for hiking, mountain biking, and snowmobiling.

Sorry, no fires in the fire pit or anywhere else on the property due to dry conditions.

This four-season, peaceful mountain retreat is bright and airy, with its large windows bringing natural sunlight and views of glistening aspen trees. See the edge of the Milky Way galaxy from its sprawling deck, which includes a private outdoor hot tub, gas grill, lounging, and dining area. You will be amazed at the opportunity of watching moose, elk, and other wildlife.

The spacious and comfortable layout invites guests to relax together or spread out on three levels. This modern home features beautiful architectural details, such as a grand stone wood-burning fireplace, three dining areas, open staircases, and soaring vaulted ceilings. The large chef’s kitchen has ample prep space, allowing multiple cooks to work together. The top level has another sitting area, office space, and two En-suite Master bedrooms, with one having a private deck.

For indoor entertainment, head to the first level, the gaming floor. This level has a private bedroom and a bunkroom (with four full beds) separated by the entertainment area equipped with a TV area and seating for many. There is also a 6-person poker table, pool table, glowing commercial air hockey table, shuffleboard, stand-up video games, bar-style dart machine, coffee table foosball, and more! This level is a walk-out to a fenced area where the kids can play and make snow forts. This property is pet-friendly and will allow up to 2 dogs with a small, so bring along your furry friends and let them enjoy the surrounding nature.

You will be close to one of the many trailheads along the Continental Divide, plus Mountain Biking, River Rafting, Ski/snowboarding, snowshoeing, Cross-Country Skiing, and snowmobiling, including fly fishing for the South Park award-winning trout: nearby hiking mountains - Mt Democrat, Lincoln, Bross, and Mt Quandary.

At Hoosier Hideaway, enjoy the fresh mountain spring water coming directly through the filtered private well system.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Please note the elevation, about 10,000 feet in the Central Rockies. In winter, you must have (or rent) a vehicle with 4-wheel drive or 4WD with chains.

----------------------------------------------------------------

For the best experience at Hoosier Hideaway and its mountain living, PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING:

-Good cell phone service in the mountains in Colorado does not exist in general. So please do not depend on it. DIRECTV and Elon Musk's StarLink Satellite Wi-Fi only at this property. You would log in to the WiFi on your phone to make calls.

-There is no option for streaming movies.

-Please DO NOT plan a business meeting if you need to “Zoom” or such. We cannot guarantee you can do it at the house. In town, perhaps, but not always within the house.

-We are about an 8-minute drive from the neighborhood to Hwy 9.

We hope you'll spend much of your time enjoying our incredible landscape and the forest surrounding our home, and just relaxing and playing with all the gaming equipment. All ages have an incredible time at our home, and our favorite reviews say, “We opted out for another day in town/ski just to hang out and have fun at the house.”

----------------------------------------------------------------

This stunning home sits at a higher elevation than Breckenridge and the surrounding towns—approx. 10,500 feet. When you go from low to high altitudes, your body needs to adjust to the change in oxygen levels. Although most people are not affected, some may feel the effects of the altitude.

Before coming out, please research altitude sickness. You may even want to consider spending a night in Denver (at 5,280 feet) to help adjust and pick up a few “Boost Oxygen” type canisters to have handy.

Some companies offer rental options for oxygen concentrators if you believe you may struggle more than others.

Make sure you are hydrated before and during your stay.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Wildlife is truly incredible, and there are frequent sightings.

-Please remember how dangerous they are up close, stay in groups, and watch children and dogs.

-We have a fenced area off the first level, but it's mainly for our children and dogs to play while supervised.

-Wildlife has been known to break into the fencing area; therefore, we sometimes find gaps in the fencing. In winter, sometimes the gaps are hard to see.

-We don’t suggest playing outside at dusk or in the dark.

-There is a strong possibility you will see Elk, Moose, Bear, and many other mountain animals.

-Ensure food prepared and/or eaten outside or on the decks has been taken inside before evening. Bears and other animals can climb up to the decks.

-Double-check that all doors, especially the garage door, are ALWAYS closed when not needed to leave the house.

-Do not leave the garage door open while away or hiking, especially at dusk.

This home was ideal for a gathering with our 4 children and their families (including 8 grandchildren). We had plenty of room for socializing together, but also plenty of room to spread out for a little quiet time. The kids spent hours building forts in the wooded area behind the house, and when it was time to come indoors, we all enjoyed the game room downstairs. The home was clean and included all the necessities for a very comfortable stay. The hosts quickly responded to any questions we had and made sure to provide any extras we needed (pack n plays, highchairs...). We made some wonderful memories at Hoosier Hideaway!

Amazing house

We had the best time at this home! The games, large kitchen and hottub made for a perfect weekend getaway. Easily one of the best vacation home experiences we’ve had! They have plenty of kitchen appliances which was helpful cooking for a large group of people. We felt the home was clean and offered plenty of space with three sitting areas to hangout in.

Great House

We spent a quiet 4th of July week away at this great house. The house is nicely laid out and has lots to do. The manager was great and quick with check in instructions as well as any updates we needed. All of the beds desperately need to be updated and are very lumpy but other than the the house is wonderful.

Clean, spacious, and well stocked

This property was perfect for several families with kids. First, it had plenty to do at the cabin itself with the game room: there was a plethora of fun options for all ages and skill levels. Second, the kitchen came well stocked with kid-related dishes, etc. And it was well stocked for adults too, including a wine cooler! Third, it had easy access for hiking, a quick drive to Pennsylvania Mountain and the easy Pika Trail, or just a quick hop to do the Decalibron. This place really had it all.

Peaceful getaway

This is a wonderful property and we enjoyed both a positive rental experience and a peaceful getaway. Elizabeth and Carla were easy to work with and responded quickly. The owners have appointed the house nicely and the quality, cleanliness and condition were great. The amenities and games offered so much to our family and was perfect for our teenagers and their friends. The location was ideal as well, as the home is quite secluded, but it was easy and enjoyable to get out to shop and dine in Alma, Fairplay and Breck. The wifi is a bit slow/spotty and 4WD is definitely needed in snow and mud season but that adds to the ability to unplug and get away from it all in this amazing mountain hideaway. Overall, the home and our stay was fabulous and we would return and recommend to others.

Large, beautiful, and fun fairly home

The only thing negative (and this is an overstatement) I can say about this home is the distance from Breckenridge, which really, is not bad. Just something to consider if you would frequent the drive to Breckenridge while staying at this home. The home is as described in the website, spacious and clean with all the wonderful amenities for their guest. Checkin and checkout was easy and when we needed the wifi fixed, they sent someone the same day to fix it. It did seem that when we needed to get in touch with someone about the home after we already checked in, calling is best than texting. Did not get any reply when texting (despite the notification that texting is best way for communication) but quick reply when emailed (before checkin) or calling (when at the home). Pretty minor and would not stop us from staying at Hoosier Hideaway again!

Wonderful Getaway

Our group of 16 absolutely loved this spot! The house was clean, exactly as described, fully stocked and the entertainment for the kids was awesome. The property manager was great with check in procedures and responding to us when needed. Absolutely must have 4 wheel drive to get up the driveway. However, the driveway makes an excellent sledding hill which our group thoroughly enjoyed! The last day of our visit we lost power due to a large storm and a tree fell across the drive preventing us from leaving. Carla was wonderful with trying to make other arrangements and take care of us during the power outage. Cell reception is extremely limited, which was no issue until the power went out and with that, the landline. The property managers made every effort to assist with our questions before, during and after our stay to make it as enjoyable as possible. I think the power outage and most definitely the tree were isolated events for this property. Even with those things it was a fun and memorable experience for our group! My one and only recommendation for the owners would be a back up power source on the property!

Fam vaca

Hi Carla, This is Jane we will be checking out around 8:30am. A few things to let you know…..the house and hot tub were both unlocked upon arrival. Also upon arrival we found…… Counters were dirty in kitchen. Trash on back deck. Our 2 1/2 year old found a condom on the back deck as well. House didn’t look like it had been vacuumed. Popped popcorn in top dresser drawer of upper left bedroom (non master) Sink Drain in mid floor bathroom doesn’t drain well. Knob on stove for stove top on far right is broken A few metal spindals on stairs are loose. Missing drawer handles in kitchen Rug/couches have stains. Just looks like a few maintenance projects need to be done. We never saw a garage door opener or used one. Just used the key pad. The house was absolutely perfect for our family of 5 kids. Their significant others and 3 grandbabies. We had a great time. The downstairs was fun for all ages. We would absolutely recommend this property!!! Sledding was a big hit. Main floor slider did not lock.

First the good: the location is great! 30 minute drive to Breckenridge & even though it’s in a neighborhood, it felt very private. The house itself is perfect for a large group. We had 13 & there was plenty of room for all of us. The basement was a huge hit with the teenagers! The arcade game was not working but they played pool the whole time. The hot tub was easy to use and worked great! As for the bad: for a house this size that can accommodate this many people, it needs more than one water heater. After coming home from hiking or biking, only 2 people were able to get a warm shower before the hot water was gone & the showers were ice cold. It took literally about 4 hours before the water was warm enough for another shower or load of laundry or dishes. Not acceptable to say you can accommodate a lot of guests if that means that only 2 of them get a warm shower! Also the pots & pans are terribly scratched & warped to the point that the lids don’t fit & the non-stick coating flakes off into the food. Many of the glasses were dirty when we arrived & had to be hand washed. I noticed that the check-out instructions state that guests are to run the dishwasher “even if there is no detergent or soap.” So a cold water rinse with no soap? Yuck! No wonder the dishes in the cabinets were dirty when we arrived! The tan sofa on the main level is very stained. It needs replacing. Propane was empty when we went to grill. Mgmt needs to do better.
