LONG TERM RENTAL ONLY: MIN.30 NITE STAY.
VMI & W&L & VA HORSE CENTER - WELCOME!
Please call and inquire about discounts. (THIS HOME IS A LONG TERM RENTAL DUE TO ZONING REQUIREMENTS. ONE MUST STAY AT LEAST 30 NIGHTS OR MORE!) Within walking distance to Lexington, this cottage is on a bluff above the Maury River across from Jordan's Point Park and VMI 's North Post. (A small portion of the walk into town is on Furrs Mill Road which has no sidewalk.) The Chessie Trail, an abandoned railroad bed converted for hiking, links the cities of Lexington and Buena Vista, and it begins directly below our house across the Maury River, which can be seen easily from our front porch in late fall (depending on when leaves fall from the trees), winter and early spring. This trail provides a wonderful, scenic hike for all age groups and levels of fitness. Although the cottage is very private and secluded, VMI, Washington and Lee University, gourmet eateries and unique shopping experiences can be enjoyed within a short walking distance. After a busy day at the Virginia Horse Center, one can return ( 2.4 miles) to the front porch of our cottage for a cool or warm (depending on the season) drink, relaxation and reflection upon the amazing beauty offered by this quaint community which is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. A retreat for all seasons, this getaway offers the comforts of home! This simple cottage is clean and uncluttered and guests are most welcomed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely Lexington cottage. It is very clean and comfortable and conveniently located to town. The screened porch with a view of the river is wonderful! We hope to return.

The house was perfect for our VMI Graduation. It is beautifully surrounded by trees where we were able to enjoy coffee on the screened in porch. Well stocked, comfy beds, and beautiful area

Cute cottage with everything we needed for our stay. The cottage — and the screened porch — was lovely to come back to after long days at the horse center. The owner was nice and responded quickly to a couple of questions I had. Cottage is also convenient to the town of Lexington as well as W&L and VMI. We would definitely stay here again.

VMI Graduation
Perfect house and home base for our family as we celebrated our son's graduation. So comfortable, relaxing and close to everything. Favorite things- the comfortable beds, the screened in porch, secluded outdoor area, and plenty of parking for family and friends.

We are so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay for your son’s VMI graduation. Our congratulations to you, your family and, of source, your son on his fine accomplishment. Mike and I thank you for your nice review.
Best,
Katherine
Overall impression of the property was cute, comfortable, clean, and super close to everything. It had everything we needed. We were initially a little nervous as we drove up the driveway because it was steep and bumpy and the immediate house on the driveway was a vacant home. Once we turned the bend and saw the actual home, everything was great.

Thank you for your excellent review. We welcome your return anytime! The beginning of the driveway is a little bumpy, and we are in process of fixing it.
The place is actually much cuter than the pictures. So well supplied and taken care of. Loved the screened in porch. Never sat in any other room, just the porch. Had three clients over for pizza on the porch and they want to stay with us next year. Plan to book as soon as I know the dates for 2021. Thank you.

The cottage was adorable, comfortable, and nicely furnished. The kitchen, which we used daily, was well-organized and well-equipped. It was spotlessly clean, though we did wipe down surfaces upon arrival, as a precaution during COVID-19 pandemic. We enjoyed seeing deer in the yard and the private setting.
The location is not bad, but I would not be comfortable walking into town...it would be a LONG walk, and at least part of the walk was on a busy road without sidewalks.

Good morning, Alice and many thanks for your nice review. We hope you you will visit us again when you return to Lexington. Thank you for leaving the house so clean and neat, and please know that having you as our guests was a pleasure.
My best to you and your family.

Katherine was a great host and described the property perfectly. The cottage was spotless when we arrived and Katherine was extremely responsive to all questions and concerns. My family had a wonderful vacation in Lexington...and a great escape from the city. Much needed fresh air and outdoor time during the pandemic! The only surprise we had was the noise from the road. We didn't expect that but it did not ruin the feeling of seclusion and peaceful relaxation.

The house was as described. Super clean with all the amenities one would need. We were really only at the house to sleep which was a shame as in nice weather there is more to enjoy. Maybe next time. The only thing I would say to add to the experience is that there needs to be at least four kitchen chairs around the table and there were only two. Not enough seating.

My friends and I stayed here recently while in town for our college reunion. The location can’t be beat- easy access to downtown Lexington, W&L, VMI, the Chessie Trail, etc. We will be back!
The location is close to town but you feel like you in a secluded home in the country. The house was clean and well taken care of. We very much enjoyed our stay. We spent a lot of time on the screened in porch talking and playing cards. There was a ground hog we named “Phil” that came every afternoon and deer as well as squirrels and birds.

This cottage is perfect! The location is very close to VMI and W and L and yet is surrounded by trees and a lovely lawn. The kitchen is very well equipped and new. The beds are comfortable. All in all it is perfect for an enjoyable stay. We hope to be back!
